Anybody else grumpy as hell until they've had their morning coffee? Although, for me sometimes it's a morning coke, or morning energy drink, but same concept really. My head just isn't on straight yet

Yeah I definitley have a physical addiction. I develop a headache that gets progressively worse if I don't get my coffee/sips by around 1pm.

You should be able to solve this.

A large order of boneless wings has over 10 grams of salt. Many of their burgers have over 6 grams of salt. Aside from making Gordon Ramsay proud, there is nothing right about eating this food.

No, it's buy one large pizza get a second for 2.99 day. I would go for pepperoni, meatball, and onion if I wasn't on a diet and could take part in this fantastic deal. If I bought them now I couldn't eat it fast enough and would end up having to throw one of the pizzas away.

Cooking is a skill where almost everyone seems to get to a certain level of competency, where they can cook some decent home meals from a recipe and not mess it up, and then they stop trying to improve. I believe a big part of this is that there are no defined ways of improving.

Learning a language you have books with progressions. Playing instruments you have books with progressions. Sports you already know everything, and just practice to improve those things. With cooking, the process of improving is not nearly as clear. There are dozens to hundreds of techniques, ingredients, spices that you need a full understanding of. You can take a cooking class, but those usually teach you specific dishes or small techniques, and won't translate to mastery.

There needs to be a cookbook or online course where it has a progression of difficulties in recipes, each chapter focusing on specific techniques, and at the end of each section outlining a test in which you have to create a dish yourself that follow certain parameters. By the end of the course you could be cooking 3 course meals that require advanced techniques and strict timing. But since as far as I know such a thing doesn't exist, how do you take your skills to the next level?

It's because people get to a level where their food is acceptable, then use the same 20-30 recipes over and over again for the rest of their lives. Or they learn that they can live off of food made by other people who don't give a shit. Food and cooking is a passion for a fraction of the population, who always want to improve, and for the rest it's "good enough" to eat the same way all the time
>>
>>9247359
As far as your cooking education book idea goes, why don't you create a wiki or blog type setup? I agree with you and I think you're actually talking about an untapped part of the market. People don't learn to cook at home anymore, there's a lot of people looking for guidance

whats the maximum amount of weight you can gain on a single day?

a better method would be just pouring sugar into your mouth

Far too inefficient. Carbs and proteins contain 4kcal/g. Fats contain 9kcal/g. Therefore eating carbs all day will result in less total caloric intake per unit time. The most efficient method would be to drink olive oil or something

Bacon on cheeseburgers is terrible.

The bacon overwhelms the flavor of the cheeseburger, and the cheeseburger cheapens the flavor of the bacon.

When people do this, it's almost always because both their cheeseburgers and their bacon is of inferior quality.
>>
>>9247181
If I'm going to have cooked toppings on a burger it's usually sauteed mushrooms or onions, or both. Bacon is decent on a burger if I'm ordering out, but it does overpower a lot of the flavor, the burger should have enough flavor that it could do without and still be edible

do you do your dishes before or after cooking?

everybody seems to do them after, which I find odd
I see it as part of the meal preparation, and I don't care about my next meal after I just ate

I wash them as soon as I use them, usually while I'm cooking, also while my food is cooling and sometimes just after I've eaten if I don't want my food to cool too much. I have a small kitchen and a small sink so leaving dirty dishes around isn't really an option.
>>
>>9247020
I'd do them after if I was a better man.
I do them right before because I have no aptitude for foresight so I only clean them because I'm forced to.

Come to think of it that's a bit of a weird masochistic wish on my part. After all it makes no sense to go cleaning dishes when you're somnolent from eating, or when you're entertaining your guests after a dinner.
>>
I had to move to louisiana because of work. I don't leave leave dirty dishes overnight if I can help it due to mold and attracting roaches.

Pic related for both. I'd try dodo and aurochs too.

I know they don't really count, but Giant Tortoises are apparently fucking delicious. So delicious that it took them forever to give it a latin name because explorer/science ships which carried them back to London kept eating them because they were so fucking good.

Even on Darwin's ship, they ate them all before they got to London.
I want to fucking eat one so bad but they're protected now. REEE

I'm about to make some cauliflower pizza, any tips? Im mainly making it because I need a low calorie alternative to pizza, I dont expect it to taste as good as normal pizza. Will BBQ Sauce pair well with this? Also what cheese should I use?

It was found that a lot of plants actually make clicking noises for whatever reason, it's not silent. Also not everyone is allergic to it. Did you know that there's a mold in peanut butter that can cause cancer? Doesn't mean all mushrooms are bad though.

I fucking love gluten. It's what makes pizza crust so delightfully chewy and is the main ingredient of seitan, the best meat substitute.

Why does good food have to cost so much money??

Why does cooking take so long??

I hate cooking so much it takes so long.

Cooking usually doesn't take more than an hour, and recipes with longer cook times are intended to be made well in advance of meal time. You're just impatient. Try thinking about things a little differently, live in the moment and appreciate what lies in it. Think of the now more than the then. Ling recipes are fun because cooking is fun, enjoy the process.
