Thinking about getting a Dutch oven. Is Le Creuset worth the $300 or is Lodge a good alternative? I wouldn't mind dropping the cash if there was a huge difference in quality.

I figured that was the case. Lodge had plenty of good reviews on Amazon. Le Creuset has a lifetime warranty though, which might come in handy if the enamel ever chips or something.
>>

How many Lodges can you guy per Le Ceuset?

After 37 years on this earth, and partaking in the consumption of many food-types, I have concluded that a good, homemade coleslaw is my favorite food.

So here's the deal, /ck/ I want to get into cheese. Living in clapistan I know I don't have the greatest selection. But I do live in California so I'm completely without some choice. What are some good and must try flavors for a beginner? What are some proper ways to eat them, pairing and what nots.

consume at room temperature,

good with grapes, baguette, nuts, dried fruits, certain crackers

camembert, brie, goat, gruyere, bufalo mozzarella, gouda, havarti

those are some of the basics that aren't cheddar or pizza mozz that you can just get at any grocery store in USA
>>
>>9252604
Pretty good calls, though I'd say brie is better hot than room temperature.

I also love a nice chevre, especially with blueberries. Pair it with a savory cheese and alternate between the two.
>>
also try white wine with cheese

is salt and pepper actually necessary to make tasty dishes?

salt is one of the worst things to have too much of and the main cause for heart/blood pressure issues

i always hear fancy chefs use this bullshit that they "bring out the flavor" but it seems to just make it taste more like salt or pepper

almost like S&P became an accepted pretentious ketchup/sauce (which apparently offends a chef if you need it for his steak or other entree because its not tasty alone) yet all they did was add their own flavor changer during cooking

not sure if bait.

>i always hear fancy chefs use this bullshit that they "bring out the flavor"

it does. it literally enhances the natural flavors of food, most of the time.
>>
>>9250921
Yes it is sometimes necessary. Cooking without salt can be a fun challenge though.
>>
>>9250921
Garlic and onion help regulate your blood pressure, so does exercise and even a long walk can help
