Cevapi.
...
Well, I might not live long, but at least it's gonna be a great time.
Nice trips. I had some homeade fried rice with broccoli beans and peppers with some fried porkbelly and an egg on top. I think I'll be okay if I only eat two meals a day and maybe dial up the veggies a bit.
Who's your cookingfu?
America's Test Kitchen really does it for me
my fav cooking show was a PBS show from the 80s/90s with two men who made random recipes sent in by viewers.

hey /ck/ is culinary school worth ? 3 semesters into uni I dropped out, and currently have no direction in my life. I've always been a decent home cook and people always say that I should consider it as a career. Any tips and suggestions on how to become one ?

Broth.
>>9265566
Its clearly a bevarage because i leave it at the bottom and drink it when im done with the cereal
>>9265566
Obviously a broth, since the ceral is floating in the milk.
Hey /ck/, im pretty young fag and actually want to learn how to make decent meals instead of buying take out. But I honestly have no idea how to even oil a pan or take care of knives, or what all the tools are and how to use them. Is there a resource somewhere I can read to get me started? Culinary schools have like text books and stuff right?
>>9265441
>think of dish you want to make
>google "how to make X"
>wa la
>>9265441
Oiling a pan is easy, you just pour a little bit of oil into the pan when it's hot. Or even before it's hot, it doesn't matter ebough that doing that would fuck anything up. Cooking is for the most part dead simple, get yourself a cook book and see where it takes you.

I admit it has a distinct and very nice flavor, but why is it so expensive? A 5 ounce bottle of Tapatio goes for 70 cents while a 5 ounce bottle of Tabasco goes for $3.40 where I live.

BRAND
its all about Louisiana Crystal Hot Sauce
First bread attempt today
1) Any suggestions/improvements?
2) It smelled a little like yeast when I cut it open. Reason/how to fix?
way too dense, knead the dough more, cut slices when you go bake it so it can continue to rise once crust forms, idk about yeast smell
>>9265176
Looks like your yeast didn't have a chance. Give it longer, or keep it in a warmer room, or try not to use chlorinated water.
>>9265225
This is accurate but the yeast smell is from a lack of sitting. You need to rest the bread before cutting it, kinda like a steak. Patience my friend.
Hotdogs, Nathans Bun length, in a pan with olive oil

Is the pan nice and hot

I am currently receiving truckloads of these, and I'm sure every anon who knows someone with a vegetable garden is too.
Post your zucchini/summer squash/courgette recipes.
I'd like to shove them in a girl's ass and eat them raw.
>>9264256
I only ever use zucchini in caponata / ratatouille
I halve them lengthwise, carve out the seeds, stuff them with shenanigans (rice, pearl cous cous, bacon, etc) and serve them whole...well halved whole after baking them.
Kinda like a stuffed pepper but not. Almost any spoon can gut the seeds so there's really no reason not to stuff it full of delicious stuff and bake it off. Takes like 20 minutes.
>eat Indian food
>mouth and lips burn like hell for 30+ minutes
Just wait, the burning will return in several hours, when it leaves you.

I'm white and I've never had this problem. Sucks to be you.

>"Hot" dishes at most indian/nepalese restaurants are mild to me
>They have to put meme peppers in my saag to make it truly hot.
How the fuck do I reduce tomato sauce? It just gets more and more watery
You simmer it for a long time
>>9264115
For how long and what's a simmer?
use a spoon to take some out of the pot or pan, this will reduce the volume of the sauce

I'm thinking of opening a herring stand in Fargo ND. Do you think it will do good business?
oh gee, no I don't think so, sweetums. >anon tries a ND accent.
Are these organic onions?

Poorfags with no appliances thread.
>going to university in a town with a grotesque housing market
>found place that has private bath and bedroom, but no kitchen
>has a microwave, toaster oven, fridge, sink in laundry
>I'm bringing a hot plate, crockpot, toaster, and kettle
>what the fuck do I eat
I want a thread to brainstorm ideas for people in similar predictaments - either because they don't have appliances or because they're low on energy, camping, etc.

English degree presumptably?
>>9264051
That's a pretty normal word for 'problematic but inescapable situation'. What word would you use?
For your situation, OP, can you clarify what you have in terms of the crockpot and hotplate? Just random images off the web of the product or an equivalent.
>>9264045
>>has a microwave, toaster oven, fridge, sink in laundry
>>I'm bringing a hot plate, crockpot, toaster, and kettle
You can fix 98% of all common meals without limitation.
>Culinary student
>Can't cook, can't bake, just good at managing and writing
I had my midterm a month ago and I made ragu. Somehow, I burned the sauce.
How do I learn cooking, /ck/?
Pick a new major/career.

This
Taught myself how to cook from watching and reading shit on TV & the internet. If you can'T even do that you are one lazy motherfucker and you will flunk out anyway.
Why on earth would you decide to be a culinary student if you weren't already at least decent as a home cook? This might not be your line of work.
is there a better way to ruin a steak than cooking it well done?

Just wanted to share a small anecdote of mine today. Sometimes when I get late night cravings I just end up going to mcdonalds. But tonight I decided to go to Wendys to try it out since I havent had it in years.
I got 2 of those crispy chicken sandwiches and a jr cheeseburger and I have to say I wasnt really pleased. It was all kind of cold when I got it and the bread on the sandwiches just seemed very low quality. I dont know why people would get these over a mcchicken or mcdouble. Can anyone explain?
Yeah, I'm sure no one has ever received a kind of cold mcdouble with seemingly low quality bread from McDonalds late at night before.
