Just made a chilli with 2 roasted red bell peppers and 4 big roasted jalapenos, should be pretty tame, right?
Well, no, it's hot as fuck. Fine for me, but the wife is gonna be pissed when she gets home and finds out what's for dinner.
I want to know, why are Jalapenos the 'roulette' of chillis? In my experience they can range from not spicy at all, to almost habanero heat at the most extreme.
Also, general chilli discussion welcome too.
>>9272836
can you roast jalapenos and remove the seeds?
That might have helped.
>>9272836
>in my experience they can range from not spicy at all, to almost habanero heat at the most extreme.
Cross-contamination with habaneros, they're grown side-by-side
>>9272839
i roasted the jalapenos whole, removed the seeds and chopped them up afer.
i always thought 'seeds are the hottest part' was a meme. i remove them because they're barely edible.
Turned out pretty good.
>>9272598
If you didnt catch my embarising thread last night its just black beans(cooked with onion, garlic and bacon) and seasoned ground beef. This time i added fried potaoes.
>>9272606
A lil dry because of the beans but some salsa will fix that.
Anywho, for those lucky enough to have this fine rainy monday off, what are you cooking for a late breakfast?
How does one cook this food?
I usually add almost every single spice and or herb I can find and add it while cooking.
The one thing I always mess up is either over salting or under salting.
>>9269672
Literally you put rice into boiling water, turn the heat down, and then all you have to do is wait. How fucking retarded are you?
>>9269679
You are obviously not mastering this grain.
I know japs have special seasoning that you can put in rice:
Like black sesame and cracked salt, and dried salmon with spices.
These intrigue me. Where can i get them?
Please dont say asian market. I cant for the life of me make heads or tails of the one most near me.
Thought almond milk, but turns out they just pump a bunch of sugar into it to compensate.
>>9269496
You know that almond milk is trivially easy to make at home, and the precursor, almond meal, keeps for months at room temperature? Just make the stuff when you need it.
Get unsweetened almond milk. It's fucking fantastic.
>>9269506
>when you need it
Nobody ever needs almond milk.
We're already seeing the beginnings of this: 'meat/animal free' alternatives that taste like the real thing will reach perfection in some cases and near perfection in other cases.
This will seem like the most unlikely of these predictions I know but, believe it or not, expect to see KFC getting their act together and their fried chicken back to as great as it was back in the 80's and all.
Snack/food companies will continue to ride the 90's nostalgia wave and you'll see many discontinued snacks & candy making a comeback.
Burger King will either by bought out or, wildcard prediction, die out slowly (in the US) until by 2027 there are maybe only 15 Burger King locations across the united states.
In n Out will make big steps to going nationwide.
>>9269455
KFC is done, Popeye's has passed them in every category.
The chicken has gone to shit, the sides are inedible. Nobody likes it anymore outside of China and there the recipe is completely different.
I agree with the Burger King one. It has just deteriorated so badly in the past decade that the food and service are just trash.
I would love the 90's nostalgia scenario happening.
taco bell's funyuns shell taco
>go to liquor store
>want to get some craft beer
>there are about a million different ones
how do i know which one to get? they all look the same
>>9274141
Most craft beer bars will give you samples, and pallet cleansers, so you can decide what you like.
Figure it out from there you fucking moron.
>>9274141
>they all look the same
Spotted the racist.
Ask the person that works there what's popular, what they like, etc

So, is there a more reasonable way to make good, strong tea at home than just using 8 family-size tea bags per gallon? Is there somewhere to buy stronger tea? Or can it just not be done without using a ton of leaves/grounds? For what it's worth, I use Luzianne right now. Don't need anything fancy. Thanks in advance.
time, temperature, quantity, particle size, and quality are all options
>>9274002
Uh, no. I mean you can use more tea or steep longer than normal to make it stronger...but there's no magical wand wave that makes tea stronger other than time and volume.
What a fucking stupid question.
>>9274002
Well, "Strength" will come from either water to tea ratio, or length of infusion, though some tea cannot be oversteeped, most of it tastes like absolute shit if you steep it too long, (tannins and the like).
But, I suspect that you are using "tea" in the sense that they swept the dust off the factory floor and put it in the bag. higher quality tea is plenty strong in reasonable amounts and proper infusion times
I need to cook enough red pasta sauce and I only have 5 medium tomatoes on the vine. What are some good ratios for seasoning? I have a food processor so I can puree them first, and I have some spices, salt and pepper.
It's going to be a one off meal, not expecting leftovers. Pic unrelated I have medium sized tomatoes.
>>9273329
Enough red pasta sauce for what, anon? How much do you need to make?
>>9273338
ENOUGH, OKAY?? Jeez.

How long until eggs go bad?
I have a couple of eggs and their best before date is 13th of July. When do eggs lose their taste / start tasting bad?
>not knowing the difference between
>best before
>use by
>packaged on
>expires on
>>9273182
Eggs keep for months.
If your eggs are bad you will know it; there will be an unbearable sulfurous stench.
Dates, as usual, are meaningless.
>>9273201
Yeah, like my dates with your mom.
There is nothing wrong with putting white vinegar on your fries.
>>9272945
Ya know except for completely ruining the taste and texture of what otherwise appear to be delicious fries

When will normies understand that "organic" is a buzzword with an arbitrary definition and that they're being blatantly manipulated?
I agree, OP. Organic food is retarded lol.
>tfw to intelligent to buy organic
>>9272780
Those tomatoes look really good. Would definitely eat everything in that image.
Anybody ever made gazpacho? I'm planning on making some for a potluck cookout this weekend. I made it a couple of months ago and it turned out good, but I'm looking for some ideas for ways I can tweak it, like maybe adding some different spices or another kind of veggie to it.
Ad ground beef/pork, and ground up dried chilli and pablano peppers, also pinto or kidney beans, then serve with cheese on top and saltines on the side
Works good for leftovers too, especially on all pork hotdogs
