Hey /ck/ noob cook here and I want to cook something for my family this Friday.
I'd like to make a lasagna, salad, garlic rolls, apple pie, and cinnamon ice cream. I want to make everything from scratch except for the lasagna noodles. Any tips? Also, what type of salad should I make?
General advice thread
Thats quite alot that can go wrong there, if nobody already expects you to make all that stuff you should better start small.
>>9339032
>Any tips?
Yeah. Start with something simpler if you're a noob cook. Making all of that from scratch is a pretty big deal for a noob.
>>9339032
Is this a joke? Why do you need to make all this shit?
Anyway just lookup all those recipes on Foodwishes. If you really need to make so much stuff I suggest making banana bread instead of apple pie and buying some ice cream to serve with it. Banana bread is near impossible to fuck up.
Hi /ck/ I took a trip down to Memphis to visit some cute girl while i was there I ate lots of good food so I thought I'd share.
What kind of sauce is that on the ribs OP? Also, keep posting delicious BBQ

Where's the chicken from, Gus's? Did you get a chance to try Top's burgers? Their double cheeseburger is fucking goat. Simple, yet perfect.
>went on a date tonight
>she ate pizza with a knife and fork
>I said nothing and did it too so as to conform with her
I feel a little guilty.

you need time away to think about what you did OP.
no appeal
>>9338605
are you surprised and even worst, infuriated by the fact that someone ate it's pizza with a knife and fork?
That's how the rest of the civilized world does it, you mongrel american.
>>9338618
How's it feel being subhuman, anon?
Do I put mozarella cheese between the sauce and the pasta, or on top of the sauce? Which way tastes better?
On top of the sauce
>>9338541
you could do both, but not with mozzarella
I'm genuinely curious as why people like this so much. What's the appeal?
There is none, everybody hates it, it's overpriced, bland, and made with shit ingredients. People just eat it too look cool
That's the answer you're looking for right?
>>9338525
That's how I feel but at least some people must actually enjoy it, right?
Honestly I'm not entirely sure either. It can be pretty nice when it's well made but also make you bedridden if done poorly, but I guess that goes for all food. It's relatively healthy depending on which rolls you get and often can taste good enough. But I don't feel like it deserves the cult following it's gathered nor the remarkably high prices you can be charged for some. I'd actually like to know why it's so popular as well. I rather like sushi because it often doesn't leave feeling heavy or bloated and it's an easy way to get fresh seafood depending on where you go.
When you stir fry veggies, how many calories does it add to them? Is it just the calories in the oil and the sauce? Or anything more?
>>9338467
>fried veggies
really?
>>9338467
>>Is it just the calories in the oil and the sauce?
Yes.
How many calories you add depends on the recipe. Some stir-fries have very little, if any, sauce. Others have a lot of high-calorie sugary sauce.
Most veggie stir fries don't have a high calorie sauce, but something like General Tso's chicken is a different story.

Yes, let's repost the same webm's over and over again. What a fun thread this will be.

I have a pound of hatch chilis and a couple habaneros that are going to be turned into hot sauce.
I keep seeing hot sauces with blueberries and mangos and shit added to them.
I'm watching a house for a relative now, and there's a lovely wall of concord grape vines fruiting.
Is there any way grape juice in a lacto-fermented hot sauce will NOT taste like shit? The logical side of my brain says this is a terrible idea but the wannabe mad scientist side is compelling me. I don't really wanna end up with hot sauce I'm not going to enjoy using though.
Pic semi related.
>>9338267
Just don't
>>9338267
I honestly don't see why not, fruits and berries go so well with spice
can't you just make the chili and then try making a small batch of grape infused hot sauce on the side?
Get back to us OP, I've really gotten curious
>>9338285
Unfortunately, I have only a single container here to put my hot sauce into. I planned that fucking poorly, but I really have no ability to experiment here.
Pie is rarely discussed here, so this is a Pie thread, any and all things Pie.
I start with a question, which is the better fast food apple pie, McDonald's or BK?
>>9338150
Arby's cherry turnover
>>9338154
Sir, excuse me sir. A turnover is not exactly what one would call....a "Pie"
>>9338150
McDonald's strawberry cream pie for life.
On fridays I use the app to get free medium fries with any purchase, so I leave with a pie and medium fries for like .89 cents.
The only downside is that I've literally never gotten a strawberry pie that wasn't past the "enjoy by" time. I know I could complain but then I'd be that guy who makes them bake a whole batch for me, and I don't want to wait for that shit.
Ahaha, now I too have acquired the long bread. Take that pistol pete and the synonymous gib-gobbers that populate this board!
Guess it's grilled cheese time, though it won't actually fit on my foreman grill. Guess I could fold it.
>>9337872
dear god
Don't fold it you dumb fuck it ruins the joke
>>9337872
where are you guys getthing this long bread from?
only time Ive seen it unslced at the store is at thanksgiving time
>Mouthfeel
>essence
>umami/savory
>cocks
redpill me on Xylitol
>redpull
Another word to add to my filter.
>>9337659
Good idea, add "redpull" to your filter.

Dr. Greger says the only okay artificial sweetener is erythritol.
Say I want deviled eggs to be the protein component in a standard single course protein/starch/veggie dinner - what would you have as the starch and veggie? My girlfriend doesn't think I can do a deviled egg dinner so I'm giving her a fucking deviled egg dinner
>>9337595
Everyone will be sick of the devilled eggs by the 3rd or 4th egg unless you make a pain in the ass dish even more of a pain in the ass by making wildly different fillings. But then you'll want to make atleast 20 eggs just so people are willing to eat 4 or 5
>>9337637
wrong faggot, this dish is eternally good
>>9337595
Wait.. you're wanting multiple deviled eggs like.. regular deviled eggs but also a starchy deviled egg and veggie deviled egg? Potato salad deviled egg.. you're on your own with veggie deviled eggs man
Starting off with something that make me wonder for a long time:
>What the fuck are activated almonds?
>>9337405
waste of money. They just take normal almonds, wet them, then sell them to fuckers in paddington for triple the price.
>>9337405
They're just sprouted. Soaked in water so the plant embryo inside starts to grow a little bit. It makes them a bit more nutritious, and it triggers spergs who have never heard of such a thing.
>>9337405
I love when people make their mental illness obvious for me.
Why is it that when talking about fried eggs, people on here seem to create a false dichotomy between over easy and over hard, completely ignoring the far superior option of over medium? It's almost as if there's a conspiracy to prevent people from realizing that they don't need to choose between an unsatisfying solid yolk or slurping down snotty, cummy, runny egg white. Wake up sheeple, you can have it both ways: a solid white AND a runny yolk.
>>9337361
>radical centrist
I like over easy if I have toast to sop up the yolk.
If i'm just eating the eggs by themselves, I like to break the yolk and spread it around, then cook it over medium.
This way the yolk is fully cooked, and you get a bit of yolk in every bite.
Seems like people consider this heresy, though.
>>9337373
So scrambled eggs, but shittier
