So everyone should know about Keizo Shimamoto's Ramen Burger by now. Somehow he has kept the bun process/recipe a secret, and I am still trying to figure it out.
I came close to a great alternative once when I staged at a restaurant almost two years ago who had a ramen burger on the menu. I cooked them and even ate one but never got to figure out how they were prepped. I just know they were in cheap looking white plastic molds.
Supposedly the idea came to Keizo after seeing a Japanese pork sandwich with ramen 4 buns. Anybody know what that may be called or even better a recipe?
Another thing to note is Keizo says his buns arent fried, which is what everyone does.
Haz anybody any luck?

Is conflict eternal or can there be peace in the universe?
Eh. I've seen worse burgers.
Don't like the look of those chips though, they look anaemic and greasy.

>I paid for it. I can do whatever I want with it.
>actually cooked
I would eat that.

As long as it's a joocy cut of meat, and you don't totally overcook it, well done is ok. But most people just overcook it and dry it out.
>eat off of a wooden slab on top of a wooden slab
I just don't understand meat eaters anymore. Must be that they're too busy thinking about dicks to sort out a proper setting.
Let's discuss god tier restaurants we've been to.
The smell at this place hits you like a truck when you walk in.

Sorry for quality
I struggle to label anything god-tier, but, good places I was at this week (I live in Miami):
Los Fuegos / Miami Beach
Decorated like a russian whore house, and full of russians to boot Service is alright, food very good. Empanadas are fantastic.

Makoto / Bal Harbour:
Great Japanese. I eat here like once a week for lunch after shopping, generally get a bento box with sushi

Matador Room / Miami Beach:
Latin cuisine, tapas. Very good, great room.

Foodies don't like The Keg but it is my favorite restaurant by far. Great food, great atmosphere. Pic related is what I normally order. Prime rib, garlic mash, deep fried onions.
I just had eggs for breakfast for the first time (fried, broken yolk). It was a good decision, I'm not normally a breakfast man and I usually just eat cold cereal but I could get used to this. Can anyone give me some breakfast tips? I don't think I'm ready to go full omelette, but I am thinking about frying some mushrooms with my eggs tomorrow morning. Along with the eggs this morning I had two slices of toasted whole wheat bread, buttered, with a banana and a cup of black coffee.
I should also mention that this breakfast seems to have cured my hangover. I'm very impressed.
stop eating eggs. yolks are as bad for you as a cigarette.
>>8759526
Just drink butter you fat fuck.
Best breakfast is a fruit smoothie with some low GI bread like a wholemeal rye
>>8759540
stop eating cake. sugar is as bad for you as a shot of vodka.
My first try at an OC thread so take it easy!
Today im cooking gulasch. To start the sauce you need all the ingeredients i have pictured
Start frying off your meat and when it has gotten a nice flavour spice with paprika salt and pepper. Then add onion garlic and carrot.

After they have lost most of the water, add mustard and tomato concentrate. Let that cook off and then add your beer and let thr alcohol cook off!
ITT: any stories on seeing or eating weird foods. Take Andrew Zimmern for example, he hosts a show bizarre foods.

God knows how he's still on tv, he should be in jail, the bastard.

What do you do with leftover roasted beef? Can't really be reheated by microwave without making it grody
Cold sandwiches for lunch at work.

Pan fry it (sautee) in a bit of butter. Olive oil works too if your so inclined. Then eat as you normally would.

Hot sandwich steaks.
Fried onions.
Ketchup.
So I'm boiling dried chickpeas today, I've been thinking about boiling them up with spices, is it a waste of spices or a bad idea for any other reason? I can't find anyone adding spices when boiling up their chickpeas when googling.
>spices
Are you white? I don't mean that as an insult but randomly adding unspecified "spices" to boiling water is such a white people thing to do.
Please specify which spices and why. Chances are the answer is no, this is a stupid idea. Sometimes people add sodium bicarbonate (is that what you call "spices"? white people logic is beyond me) to chickpeas for flavor and texture. Otherwise, no. Boiling chickpeas with random unspecified "spices" is just going to fill the kitchen with the smell of that spice boiling. If you enjoy that sort of thing, then sure.
>>8759281
lmao what an autistic response
some things absorb spices better than others
some spices that exist are: allspice, black pepper, cumin, cloves, cardamom, ginger, paprika, chilis, etc etc
>>8759333
>some things absorb spices better than others
Yeah, like oil for instance. Which is why frying the spices is usually how it's done. Feel free to say "autistic" again now, it really gives your point so much more weight.
Why isn't freshly cracked white pepper a thing? It's used in Asian cooking a lot but no supermarkets near me sell white peppercorns, only pre-ground white pepper.
Is there a reason pre-ground is more commonly available, and if I did buy white peppercorns in a market somewhere would there be any benefit to grinding them freshly myself?
>>8759056
hijacking this thread
What do I do when a recipe calls for, say, a teaspoon of freshly cracked pepper? Do I actually take the peppermill and hold it above a teaspoon like a retard? I usually just use pre-ground stuff for this, what does /ck/ normally do?
>>8759157
You take the peppermill and just feel what is a teaspoon, then taste.
>>8759157
If you have it, use a kitchen or drug scale.
1 tsp of black pepper = 2.1 g
>>8759056
They don't taste any different and the black or black and white mixes are much more widely available in the US. The only place where I'd think white pepper would be very useful in one would be a bechamel sauce or other light-colored dish.
I am fucking freezing, hungry and tired.
What are some quick high protein hot dishes that do not take much effort?
Semen

Cheeseburgers
Let's play a game.
Post your favorite recipe and first response to that post changes one ingredient in that recipe, then the person who posted it has to cook that dish.
I'll give an example:

What food do you guys eat when you have an upset tummy?
I had food poisoning a few months ago and after my spewing had trouble eating for the next couple of days. Luckily my gf sat by my bedside and watched movies with me, fed me crackers and toast and kissed me on the forehead and rubbed my tummy so I felt better.
cottage cheese, yogurt, ricotta
