So to those of us that claim a higher title of culinary prowess outside of being a mere cook, what do you say? Japanese or German?

1,000,000 times folded nihon steel always wins hands down.
I know you guys hate this shit but.. I really dig fish. However I just put an 800$ deposit on a room so I'm gonna be broke until the end of the month.
Can you be a pescatarian on a budget? I feel like fish is crazy expensive. Am I wrong?
>>8805548
get tilapia, it's cheap as shit and you can cook it a million ways without going broke buying it
>>8805548
My local grocery store sells the offcuts from when they make nice salmon fillets really cheap. Fine for making sushi rolls or whatever if you don't care if it looks pretty. Also other fish can be cheap, mahi mahi is usually pretty affordable, or just get whatever the cheapest shit is.

How do you feel about Indian food?
I've never actually eaten any but it looks really good.
I really like chicken makhani, but for the most part I'm not into Indian food. The spices they typically use have a dusty taste to me, which is understandably off putting.
Everything I've eaten at an Indian restaurant has been delicious except for the dessert 'gulab jamun'. It's like a doughnut hole soaked in syrup, and when you bite down, your mouth is filled with a sickening amount of sugar. I'd recommend getting a lamb samosa and saag paneer with a side of naan. That's my favorite meal of all time.

Why are there no women chefs?
>>8802794
The majority of /ck/ is female, and there are plenty skillful women chefs
>>8802802
Case in point. Women are useless and soulless attention seeking cunts who pretend to like things for attention. Makes sense that they'd shit up this sort of cooking forum.
>>8802802
Yes but at the highest level it is all men. I thought women were supposed to be good at cooking? What are they doing sitting at home all day? Kinda raises some questions
Post what you cooked today.
Tried cooking scallops for the first time
That looks delicious OP, great job! How does it taste, I'm allergic to scallops.
Marinating some pork chops in balsamic and dijon, haven't decided on sides yet. Might go with roasted potatoes and shallots, some garlic rice maybe. We'll see.
Again, congrats OP!
for breakfast I had avocado on sourdough with chopped scallion and serrano with a squeeze of lime. havent eaten again yet

Thank you, I appreciate it. I work in a kitchen, so I never really get compliments unless a server relays a message from a table.
It was pretty good, I have heard of people wrapping bacon around scallops, but since it was my first time working with them, I thought I'd leave the scallops be.
The pasta is a thin spaghetti, added to some diced bacon (added it to the pasta instead of incorporating it directly with the scallops), garlic, chili, parsley stems, and brought together with Asiago cheese and an olive oil butter.
The scallops were alright, I think I overcooked the smaller ones, they were a little chewey.

I'm drinking canned beer right now, what do you guys usually drink?
>>8801721
cheapest vodker available
>>8801721
7% beer, like 4 liters a day
It's cheaper than buying vodka and still gets me buzzed or drunk if I chug it fast
Anyone try the new taco burrito yet?
Thoughts?

sour cream sucks, bland, boring, crunchy strips no good
I'd rather get two crunchy tacos. The spicy stopsign is better, but the sauce distribution was uneven and the sour cream still sucks.
>>8801052
I'd buy it again
Now that the dust has settled and the Jack treads have been deleted for not being relevant to /ck/, let's have some OC.

So is the thing eating it.
In Haiti they literally eat dirt. Pic related.
What does /ck/ know about bizarre foods from around the world? Particularly 3rd world countries.
In America I hear they eat pineapple on their pizza
Trinidad/Tobego they eat cow skin. Its almost as tough as leather even after marinating and boiling. But they are so poor they have to eat it. they also eat chicken feet
>>8783167
>almost as tough as leather
Isn't cow skin literally leather?
