Why go though all that trouble when I can just throw my soup in an old cottage cheese container and stick it in the freezer?
>>8834248
>cut cups
Or just wait ten seconds and give it a slight squeeze, the soup will pop right out.
I'd like to stick the type of person who makes this in a room with an environmentalist mouth breather. Think of the wasted cups just so you can have individual portions.
Here's an idea, if the soup is only for you, don't make gallons of it.
This is soup. Get over it.
>>8834121
>soup: a food made by cooking vegetables, meat, or fish in a large amount of liquid
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/soup
There's no vegetable, meat or fish in there and neither did you cook it.
It's cereal, not soup.
>>8834147
Corn is a vegetable, but otherwise correct. That is not a bowl of soup.
>>8834147
just uh hey man could you maybe uh just stop jacking off to webster my dude, my guy
Chinese hand pulled noodles.
Id love to make this but all I've found on it are mostly technique vids. I need a recipe for the dough. My guess is a high gluten dough using bread flour. But I've heard CAKE flour is the way to go. But WTF cake flour has a smaller gluten content than all purpose!
>>8834083
Lurking, because I've wondered too and tried to find recipes but there are none.
These noodles are made with starch, I guarantee it.
epic bump
/ck/, what's the most satisfying meal to cook?
For me, nothing beats a roast chicken. There's just something about cooking an entire animal, and the tastiness-to-hassle ratio of a chicken is unrivaled.
>putting something into the oven that looks like garbage, then magically pulling it back out golden and beautiful
>snacking on the crispy bits while you carve
>biting into a chicken breast that's actually tender, succulent and flavorful instead of tasting like rubberized tree bark
>eating the veggies that have been roasting in the drippings
>knowing you paid barely anything for this delight, which makes it taste all the better
>using the carcass to make an amazing broth because the chicken felt like it hadn't brought you enough joy yet
What's better?
>mfw cleaning the oven after cooking a chicken
>>8833986
How does your oven get dirty? are you just throwing the chicken straight onto the rack or some shit?
>>8833976
An egg sandwich with runny yolk - simplicity, easy, and over the top on the velvety, creamy, comfort food scale
These are more work, but that makes them all the more satisfying when you nail it:
A loaf of bread
Pizza margarita from scratch with veg that you grew in your own garden
A deboned and stuffed roast chicken
I make gumbo and red beans and rice from time to time, and the ability to freeze 4 quarts of it and eat that meal without having to cook much at all over the next several months is fucking terrific. Knowing that each serving cost about 62 cents is nice too.
I agree that a simple roast chicken is pretty high up on the simple/delicious/cheap scale.
Better than Subway or Jersey Mikes?
>>8833966
jersey mikes for cold subs, firehouse for hot subs. the meatball, steamer, and brisket sandwiches are god-tier
Meme restaurant. They don't even serve cold sandwiches. Sub restaurants should always at least give you the option of cold.
>>8833966
Literally everywhere is better than Subway
It's simple, /ck/. Just post the last meal you cooked and browse through the thread.
>If your food makes somebody hungry, you win.
>If you get hungry, you lose.
Let's go.
>>8833927

Is it true frozen pizzas can be up to 20 years old sometimes?
unlikely considering that frozen pizzas were only invented 10 years ago.
>>8833818
Is it true that Brahmin fries are really just bull testicles?
1993 was the best year for frozen pizza but it's quite rare to find one from that vintage today.
I was lucky enough to sample a slice of of a 1993 Tombstone supreme at a frozen food convention a couple of years ago.
It had incredible mouth feel and lovely bouquet, the taste was incredible, it really lingered on the palate.
Do men like beer because it smells like their own sweat?
>>8833769
if your sweat smells like beer you might be drinking too much
>>8833769
My sweat smells musty now that the hormone replacement medication has fully kicked in.
Not like beet at all.
My sweat usually smells like vodka and liverwurst.

Steak is patted dry and salted, gonna let it sit at room temperature for 45 minutes and go for a run while it does its thing.
Should I do it reverse sear or classic pan sear? Gonna be using my trusty cast iron
>>8833225
you were too close there oh god
>>8833237
I can't do that. Medium rare is what I'm going for
So I'm looking for a foolproof seasoning for my burgers. If they taste like In N Out patties, shit, I'll be fine with that
Suggestions pls
salt is really great on burgers OP
give pepper a shot
>>8833152
when forming patties before cooking:
1) Fuck your salt, that shit does nothing. Instead use a small amount of either soy sauce or miso paste because that adds depth to the flavor
2) Small amounts of onion, garlic, and paprika. If you can get fresh onion and garlic and mince it to slivers yourself, great. if you can't or just don't want that time investment, use onion and garlic powder in small amounts
3) Practice cooking them so they are medium rare or rare every fucking time.
4) Use a small amount of ketchup or bbq sauce, and USE FUCKING VEGETABLES YOU TWAT
5) Pickles are gods gift to good men.
What does /ck/ think about headcheese?
Personally I would never eat it
>>8833131
Why is that? It's no different than anything else you get in the deli except that the pieces are bigger.
