>tfw major post con depression
>>8845435
I don't think I've experienced post-con depression this badly until now. This year made up for how gloomy last year felt.
So what ribbons did you end up getting. I know some of my friends got close to 300. I was there mostly Saturday and wasn't trying very hard, so I got just a few. All the ones I got were from friends except for the lesser dog ribbon. I found that one on the ground on Sunday when I was picking up a friend for lunch.
>>8845447
Seriously, I fucking sobbed all Monday returning to normal day life and having a shit day after such a great con. This last ALA was easily the best convention I've been to.
so why were there cops all over the Radisson
>>8845448
I got a jail-bait ribbon.
Im 21 year old dude.
Do you think the dandy guy samefagged? I haven't seen someone that subpar looking while being extremely new get so much attention since CJ

Didn't really hunt for any of them. They just appeared in my hands.
>>8844685
I will get to you on getting those files since I can get the actual latest DDR files too. Where can I contact you?
>>8845462
Who knows, but you just reminded me about TSRbrah from last year
Did anyone get that "This con fukken sux" one that had a picture of Carl Sagan? I saw exactly one guy running around that had that one and a "Anime Was a Mistake" one and a "Hi I'm Matt I'm a Technician" one. I literally saw no one else with that.
>ALA 2015 seagull meetup was extremely dead and almost 100% newfags. Most people left within minutes
>ALA 2016 seagull meetup was tinychat in full force
What happened?
>>8845471
2015 was the only Maguma-less one.
According to that logic people go to these if Maguma goes.

I was trying to figure out the how the ribbons worked so on friday I was figuring out how to earn ribbons and on saturday I just got those two. I wanted to go around and get more but the person I was with was pretty crabby and a literal a-hole so I had to give up. But earning the two I got was fun! I am going to make ribbons for next year since it looked fun handing them out to people and getting some in return.
>>8845467
I got the Anime Was a Mistake from a friend who was being super shady and secretive. Best ribbon besides the metal die cut Partycon 2k16 with built in bottle opener.
>>8845478
I've been thinking of making some ribbons too. My husband was planning to cosplay from Destiny and wanted to make one that said "I found an engram and all I got was this ribbon"
>first ALA
>go to first ever seagull party
>everyone was welcoming and friendly for the most part.
You guys are alright.
>>8845455

>>8845492
They were looking for you and they know what you did.
How much are they gonna charge that room for damages?
>>8845448
Ended up getting a handful, definitely more than last year.
I gave out all my Psycho-pass ribbons at the meetup though, forgetting that I'd actually probably want to have some for the next couple of days for trading.
I didn't expect there to be so goddamn many of you.
>>8845471
ALA doubling their attendee count is what happened.
>>8845498
doubling the attendee count wouldn't bring oldfags back
>>8845506
2015 was a rough year for me and I only made it to one Cali con.
2016 is the last gasp of a lot of old gags who are pushing that window of true adulthood.
>>8845506
No, but it does fix the part about it being dead.

He was helping run one of the two seagull parties,so most of the people here met him
>>8845455
From what I heard, to find out who started the lobby party
>>8845471
Yeah my bad for that one. I got the opportunity to throw a party in this huge suite that had a pool table in it, but in doing so I got pinned down bartending till like 2 am and had to miss the meetup. Most of the oldfags were in there with me. I tried to contact all the anons I could to get them up to the room because it had space for everybody, but only a few anons made it up.
Who still cringing over themselves here?

Don't worry about it, bro. No one remembers your name, and probably couldn't pick your face out of a crowd.
But we'll always remember what you did. No amount of alcohol in the world will let us forget what you did.
However, since we don't know you, you got away with it scot-free. So relax!
>mfw I saw the sinks in the lobby bathroom at the Radisson entirely caked in vomit that smelled like vodka and rotten eggs
>mfw I see cosplayers chugging a big ass flask full of hard liquor
I had a really great time this year! Last year was my first year at ALA so I could definitely see the changes, but they weren't bad. I liked the con center and everyone was super fucking friendly. I made so many new friends and cosplay plans, it's ridiculous.
Our group went to the Radisson on Saturday night then turned right around. Some of ya'll are gross and need more clothes and less booze. It didn't even seem fun, just ridiculous and sleazy. I feel bad for anyone who stayed there. Hearing about the vomit in the sinks and the spiked drinks makes me think we made the right decision to stay away.
The only thing is I sort of regret buying a badge. I didn't really find anything cool in the dealer's room, nor was I super interested in any of the panels. I basically paid $60 to walk through the convention center building to avoid the wind. I hope next year there's some more variety.
>>8845462
Space dandy was cool. Same with the guy with the jap bandana who served drinks and the straight-edge fags who helped people who were drunk.
>>8845949
The panels were seriously terrible. A lot of them seemed like "hey we're a couple of funny people who are going to talk about this come watch us laugh at our inside jokes". Now that ALA is getting bigger, I really hope they have more Japanese guests because I really don't know anyone who gives a fuck about English dub voice actors unless they do roles as video game characters which would still not be appropriate for an anime convention.
Overall, I'd really love to see this con put more emphasis on anime again.
>>8845985
The old ALAs had them read old comic books which were amazing. Favorite part of each ALA.
>>8845949
>The only thing is I sort of regret buying a badge
I know people who ghosted past security this year and got into the con center, but if you "had a really great time" but regret buying a badge, please think about how the badge purchase supports the con for the activities and things you got to do and see.
>>8845519
>Dont drink or smoke
>Say im straight edge whenever asked if I want a drug
>People here said they cringed every time they heard me say it
I just don't want to do drugs and wasn't trying to act superior.
>>8846023
People won't give up trying to make you drink unless you flat out announce it like that anyways.
How do you stop having a crush on a cosplayer you've only met once?
>>8845985
Todd Haberkorn, Kyle Hebert, and Ezra Weisz are pretty cool, but everyone/everything else was boring as shit.
>>8846056
Who's the cosplayer?
>>8846062
Er, Charizard. It wasn't really about the cosplay because he obviously didn't care, but he's just adorable. And nice. And he talked to me even though I'm a literal nobody who spaghetti'd it up after a while.

What's the problem? In my experience whenever I say no thanks or say I don't drink I instantly get a "why not? You should try some" but saying your straight edge instantly stops people from trying.
Do you get mad if someone says they don't eat the meat you are offering because they are vegetarian?

>>8847584
What was it of? I'll help you anon!
>>8847586
It was a Gon and Killua print from HunterxHunter. It had a white background, japanese festival feeling to it, Killua (white haired boy) was facing right, taking off some kind of white mask, had japanese wooden sandals on, and pretty much took most of the space on the print since he was right in front.
Gon (black haired boy) was behind him facing the left side kinda looking up and there was a red circle on the left side of the print as well. It had a very Japanese festival setting to it so most of the colors that stood out was the white, black, and red, especially the red.
I tried describing it the best way I can, hopefully you or some other anon, or better yet the actual artist, knows which print I am taking about.

>Anything you'd want to or like to see that'd make the badge worth it for you?
Not that Anon but I have suggestions! (I have trips blocked in my desktop so I'm assuming that you're ALA staff and this is something I should know?)
The fact that the radisson was across such a huge street made it feel like everything was super far away. Finding space in the doubletree, Ayres/Azure, or that other one in between those two would be way more convenient. Also I think it would be more convenient to put panels and cosplay gatherings and autograph sessions (basically stuff you tend to go to at a specific time) in one place and the rest in the other, if you must have it split up. I spent barely any time at con because after doing something I'd planned in the convention center, half the time the next thing I wanted to check out in my free time was across the street, and going back to my hotel felt easier, especially when the weather got bad. If there was a gathering or panel I knew I didn't want to miss, walking over to the radisson would feel like no big deal, but just to hang out in the gaming room I could never bring myself to do it.
Of course it can't be 100% split up this way (maybe gatherings won't fit in the radisson, and it's good to have some time fillers next to the stuff you had planned specifically) but this year it was pretty evenly split, and that deterred me from actually doing stuff.
Also having panels running later would have been really nice. Based on how early everything ended I'm guessing there just weren't many panel applicants? My friend and I do a game show at fanime every year so we'll probably try and bring that over to ALA for next year at least
>>8848059
>Also I think it would be more convenient to put panels and cosplay gatherings and autograph sessions (basically stuff you tend to go to at a specific time) in one place and the rest in the other, if you must have it split up.
I agree with this completely.
Put all the press stuff that 98% of congoers don't go to into the Radisson, and instead have the game rooms upstairs.
>>8848059
> panels running later would have been really nice.
There were late night panels at the Raddison. It's tricky due to how the convention center closes late at night
>>8847882
I was hoping to find some sort of blog or online store for them but this atleast gives me hope on buying the print sooner or later at the next con!
>>8848059
Yeah I'm on staff lol, but yes please leave yo' comments! Also gameshows and more content are ALWAYS welcome! I'm on the Executive staff team so I'm trying to be quite active about making sure attendee feedback gets to the people it needs to be at.
In regards to the split of activities, this is something we couldn't really have avoided in Year 1 of the new venue but its good to hear from people how they felt about it. We'll probably be reassessing where things will go because I also feel that if there's a need to walk between the two venues, it better be a good one. Pushing some more prime or constantly frequented stuff to the Radisson would help its foot traffic. We'll see what happens with that. Thanks for your inputs!

>>8848579
I was drunk as fuck.
I wouldn't do it sober lol
But the trap was really fucking cute to be fair
plus he was
super nice
>>8848569
The key is to not delude yourself into thinking you, YOU, were ever going to get any action. That way you can't feel bad.
That's what I did
>>8848569
Wanna have fun, go be yourself. If chicks dig you they'll dig you. You wanna get freaky? if it happens it happens. Also go to the dance or something, some freaky people hit the dance.
>>8848590
Not believing in yourself.
This is how you never get laid.
>>8848599
>Believing in yourself
I just wanted alcohol tho.
>>8848604
Well now you guys know what to do to get some action.
Better stock up on booze and latch onto a trap.
Ya'll fucking degenerates <3
>>8848581
sounds like you had places to go and dicks to suck
>>8848610
I will crush you, Shy
>>8848610
But
That was like a one time thing.
LIke one time thing only.
:v
Plus only desperate people would do that.
>>8848610
bully all the degenerates for us Shy~
>>8848617
Are hugs still up for grabs?
who is shy
im confused
am i liked or hated
??
>>8848621
duh
depends on who you are though
>>8848624
Shy is our shield against degenerates. Save us Shy.
>>8848624
I don't know who you really are, nor do I know who Shy is either.
I feel like there's an entire part of the con I missed out on...
>>8847300
9ball-senpai is my hero.
You better be at Fanime. I have a handle with your name on it.
>>8848610
Have fun with your disgusting race mixed babies forced to work below minimum wage.
>>8848642
A food truck lady called me trap and I got super drunk.
>>8848638
Oh
Okay
Shy beat me up and take my lunch money
What the fuck is going on here?!
>>8848662
The cold pushes Spiders away
>>8848663
That's never stopped spider anon before though.
>>8848662
Thats what happened at the con.
>>8848662
I don't remember spiders at last year's gathering
>>8848674
I'm a degenerate.
>>8848610
Shy take my hand holding virginity
>>8848673
I think I missed it last year as I didn't have the time off so I couldn't tell you. But I've been going to ALA since 2010 and the spiders were at most of the cgl gatherings I recall.
>>8848507
I stayed at the Residence Inn. If you were in the room party that got kicked on Friday night, you niggas deserved it.
>>8848737
They actually evicted several groups? Damn, that is very excessive.
>>8848737
>In other news, what even is going on in this thread?
We're bored and waiting for cosplay photos to come back.
>>8848575
>>8848597
My bad, all the grills were in 3080.
>>8848678
>>8848673
Its because the spiders were revenge against tripfags, and all the tripfags were in my suite party. This year the spiders probably were kill because it was cold. We never did make it out to the pool deck tho, so maybe they were out there.
>>8848726
I wasn't there when they got kicked, but they weren't that loud when I was there.
This was before the police thing
>>8848756
Hey, we had lots of girls torwards the end. I dunno where they came from though.
How I need to know whats up with the spiders and horrible room party?
>>8848765
Probably refugees from the Farmhouse party.
>>8848751
Excessive? They were told multiple times from the front desk to quiet it down because of the noise complaints they have been getting. I was there when the front desk guy called the room that this was their last warning. An hour later, I hear from a room mate that went to that party that they got evicted and had to get the police called in.
>>8848849
It was only the narcos being loud as fuck
the people tossing ecstacy
>>8848616
Bring it, fagget.
>>8848642
Nah, you missed nothing. Happy to see you posting more!
>>8848657
Can't wait for the next awesome party!!!
Also, Plz no.
>>8848649
>below minimum wage
You forgot we live in commiefornia.
>>8848677
2lewd.
>>8848752
We should start making bets on how many threads it will take before we get some decent cosplay pics.
>Going to a weaboo dress up festival in the boondocks of Ontario to get drunk
Shit you could have done that at home.
>>8848861
It's whoever owned that rooms fault. Should have tossed out the people making noise and called it a night. I checked in on Day 0 and there a shit ton of squad cars of the Residence Inn's parking. I heard that there was some kind of training seminar going on at the Double Tree that same weekend. Yeah, what a good time be a drunk and coked up fucktard in a hotel that is also hosting a ton of cops.
>>8848873
this was day 2
>>8848254
Skaabi pls
Might I add discord is the worst program
>>8848879
^^
>>8848940
What would grounds for that even be? Especially knowing what a party con ALA, surely the hotels were prepared for debauchery?
>>8849149
Well the Residence Inn was never part of the hotel line up. Or was it?
Either way they are a no nonsense hotel. If you look up their reviews people mention how they have been kicked out for noise complaints. Since it's a place that people actually live at/evacuate to it seems like common courtesy to obey the 9pm-9am quiet time.
>>8849149
California lets hotels evict guests for not abiding by the hotel's rules (i.e. no smoking) or causing a disturbance.
>>8845429
I took a few photos before my phone died.
I saw you post in the wrong thread anon. I'm laughing at you forever.

>>8849233

Fuck, all these pictures and such shitty cosplay. I love it. I think ill finally do one this year no matter how shitty it turns out.
>>8849233
>Tfw we may have tried to squad on the guy on the left but can't really remember
Hey, future AX attendee here.
Anyone got any stories on how difficult it is sneaking several people in a room at the Millennium Biltmore goes?
>>8849352
Just go at different times, that seems to work well, especially if its a higher class hotel.
If you go to a motel though you can sneak a few people
Anyone stayed at the Ayers Suites? How is it? Fuck the Radisson, next year it's either a toss up between Ayers and Double Tree.
>>8849239
That's the point. It's a great con to have fun and wear chill cosplays and enjoy the atmosphere.
The new dates for 2017 have been announced, and the hotels currently don't have any rooms available for those dates? Is it too early to book, or is it that ALA has prebooked all those rooms as part of their upcoming block?
>>8850132
They said in March that the hotels would go up.
also,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1LwHWBkGCq4
What a shit frat-tier party that was.
>>8850132
Yeah, once we announce hotel blocks, then get on it. We are 100% Filling the Radisson again so booking outside the block there is a poor choice.
>>8850146
>that video
>>8850146
that's because all the strippers and blow were in beanies room
Didn't go to the party, not sure I don't regret it since I'm not into all that. It was my first time cosplaying, it sort of fell apart halfway through the day Saturday though and I had to sort of give up.
Got my first kigurumi too and I honestly have to say I've been addicted to this thing since, didn't have to go anywhere Monday so I washed it (the maker is pretty good, it's machine washable) and basically wore it most of the day. It's also been my pajamas past couple days. Most comfortable thing I've ever worn, daysue. If I had a reason to wear it somewhere I probably would. I'm a guy that sometimes wants to feel cute I guess, but that's sort of difficult to do (or let's be honest, even say) without someone thinking you're trans or pretty much getting the wrong idea....
But enough of that, tldr even though missed the party I had a pretty good time yo and I want to hug all y'all
>>8850558
Were you the kigu DJ?
>>8850146
what a fucking embarassment
>>8850558
I got my first kigu too. They're awesome.
>>8850558
hugs next year for like everyone.
>>8850146
jfc can at least there not be videos? This is just gonna bring more random fuckwads who only want to drink and ruin things.
>>8850574
Kigu dj is actually famous. She is a cool person too, good music taste.
>>8850793
Yeah no I am not kigu DJ
Probably missed the bit where I said I was a guy
>>8850146
This is kinda cringe.
>>8850826
I never said you were kigu dj though. Just telling anon that kigu dj is pretty cool.
>>8850793
How famous
The panels were awful and the people in the E-Gaming room didn't know jack shit about games or consoles. They didn't know what a Genesis controller looked like and handed me a PS2 one instead. But everything else was great. Definitely coming next year and feels good to be semi-active here since last Comikaze.
>>8851414
Fuck off you ingrate they're volunteers don't blame them for not knowing what a shitty controller looks like
>>8851226
there was a homu trap but thats the only person that should know what my ass looks like as far as ala goes
>>8851829
Butt pics pls
>>8851414
>The panels were awful
Someone didn't go to Banzai Arcade and Dub Show
>>8851226
Which trap then?
Trapmystery2016
>ALA is my birthday con
>mid 30s
>try to be friendly and mingle with younger fellow nerds
>feel like a dinosaur or an old guy about ready to die when going to these parties
Maybe I should stop going to these cons.
>>8850146
>You will never get to touch a random Seagulls boob in the name of fun in ALA
>>8852002
Banzai Arcaaaade!
>>8852247
I'm 23, but the friends I got to cons with are 30-32, and I've met people well into their 40's.
In my experience, no one really cares about age.
If you're cool and don't hit on underage girls, you'll be fine.
>>8851967
no?
>>8852247
Hey man, please stop by our room at any con we are at. You are welcome to join us to chat and have a few drinks. You are never too old to have fun. We are all friend here~~
>>8852799
Yes?
>>8853025
But I don't want to post my ass on the internet again.
>>8853007
This is why your pillow gets cucked
>>8853027
Again? Link please~
>>8853248
You would probably have to ask the /b/ avatar fag threads.
But they are dead, so iunno.
I don't keep pics of me for the most part.
>>8853256
You are breaking my heart.
>>8853262
Sorry friend
>>8853264
It is ok, life can be mean sometimes.
>>8853286
Who are you anyways?
>>8853248
Here's the only seminude thing I could find of them from archives. To keep this board related, I could imagine an endless possibility of cosplays for it because of their body.
RIP
Until next year
>>8853583
Damn, someone found my posts on /lgbt/
Nice.
That was like a few months ago too.
Kinda surprised anyone would want to see that gross image.
Like my hips aren't even that great in that image.
Wow my bod yhas improved from 4 months hormonal difference.
But Im going to Sakura-con as Kurumi Tokisaki because its my girlfriends favorite character.
I'll probably post pics here
>>8850558
Was kinda hoping they had some Yokai Watch kigus but nope.
>homestuck cosplay
>2k16
Make it stop.
>>8861594
YOU CAN'T STOP ME.
On the side note it should end in April so prepare for an influx.
More cringe videos from ALA 2016?

>>8845498
I want to go ALA and I see those ribbons in photos/videos but idk for what are they for.
>>8862405
It is a tradition for ala. You go around and collect them after meeting certain criteria. Some will ask you trivia questions, request you to do a certain pose, some will give them out to people for just being there.
>>8861846
The music fucking sucks.
