I think a lot of people will find it boring, but I fucking love black and white so I am drooling from just the few glimpses I've seen.

This is gorgeous
This thread is my ideal style
Regular larma kei is too girly
Black and white is best
>>8839686
Ok well that's all I can find for now. It's very subdued and monochrome, but I really like the detailing. I might go for the two skirts here >>8839659
>>8839694
I would call this style regular larme over the hyper girly stuff.
>>8839694
>Regular larma kei is too girly
Have you seen the newer issues? This is becoming the new regular larme kei. It's just the current trend.
Let's talk other spring collections!
I just checked Honey mi Honey's spring collection... I am not feeling any of this. I hate to say it but honestly it looks like Western nymphet fashion, and I'm not just saying that because of the white models.
You can see more here because I'm not posting more of this to this thread: http://www.stylife.co.jp/stylife/shop-honeymihoney/?sale=4
Honey Cinnamon has already started rolling out some of it's spring collection and some of it's pretty cute. Nothing I'm dying for however.
http://honeycinnamo.thebase.in/category/2016%20early%20spring%20pickup
>>8839734
>Nothing I'm dying for however.
I lied. except maybe these bags.
>>8839736
They also have a new cinnamoroll collection but it seems to cutesy for larme. Looks more yumekawaii. Honey Cinnamon as a brand did always skew younger than some of the other brands.
http://honeycinnamo.thebase.in/category/cinnamoroll%20collaboration
I do like this bag though.
Most of you have probably already seen Katie's S/S Bettie Page collection.
http://www.katie.jp/lookbook.html
I like it but it's katie so it's gonna be out of my price range.
>>8839659
Hnnnnngh everything here looks amazing, bless you anon for posting this. Does anyone know if it'll be available online at the same time as the physical shops?
>>8839663
Curse my large bust and height. I love this outfit so much! I would kill for a brand that fit me with a blouse like that.
Came across this shop that has some larme appropriate things. I'm thinking of buying some stuff from here.

>>8839766
I aspire to be her.
>>8839766
I love seeing these pictures as she has the same body shape as me, it's quite rare to see broadish shoulders in j-fash. Ok so I’m still nowhere near as freaking cute but hey, it gives me hope that I can rock it.
>>8839640
Damn I need those shoes.
Would I need a ss for bon bon?
>>8844891
From my understanding and the spreadsheet linked in OP almost all larme stores require an SS. Tokyo Otaku Mode has a few bon bon things in stock but no telling if/when they'll get those specific shoes
Requesting pics with girls that have no bangs!
I need hair inspiration.
>>8845511
I'll post some stuff. I was wearing larme with no bangs for a while so I know what feel. Generally though pull your hair away from your face! And play with interesting parts.
>>8845548
>>8845551
>>8845558
Not really a no bang specific look but a good way to add interest to your hair!!!
>>8845561
No bangs and short hair is really cute too, imo its very youthful and effortless
>>8845563
Classic easy mode....double ribbons +curls
>>8845564
And pigtail braids of course, with some unique parting
>>8845565
Again, curls ribbons, and unique parts
>>8844870
Is this you? If that's the case, you're beautiful!
Bonbon-anon, are these clothes sold right now in store? The Risa collection
>>8844891
I've never ordered from them before, you might be able to use tenso and get it forwarded if you're comfortable with that but otherwise you'll need to use an ss. I don't believe they will ship internationally directly.
>>8845672
Nope, not yet. It isn't up for preorder yet either. I'll keep the thread updated if I hear any news.
>>8845696
Thanks! I wanna go and check it out as soon as possible
>>8845725
You and me both!
The images I posted here are from their exhibition of the collection, but nothing was actually up for sale yet. Sorry I didn't make that clear before.
>>8845680
Please excuse the selfpost (I'm in my car atm) but I recently got a new pair of glasses that I think work really well with larme.
I wear pretty simple makeup underneath and have chipmunk cheeks so I don't think this is the best example of how it could be styled, but I think big glasses work so well with this style.
Concrit welcome. I'm growing the sides of my fringe as was suggested by an anon in a previous thread and I'm having a hard time getting my curls to hold!
>>8845816
Dropped the pic
>>8845819
I don't think your makeup here is quite right for larme, in my opinion your lips look overdrawn to the point of awkwardness - larme lips often embrace a full look but not usually drawing shapes right outside your lip line to this degree, not to mention the edges are usually much less sharp looking and often have a 'blurred' glossy appearance (pic related). In this photo at least, your natural lip line underneath where you've drawn them larger is really obvious.
I don't think the little lines of black eye-liner on the lower part of your eye is quite working either. A bit of pink or rose coloured blush would be a nice edition too.
I would highly recommend going back through the larme archives to try to get a better sense of the make-up aesthetic as well as perhaps join some of the better larme associated tumblrs such as dakishimetaii, sayariin and xoxsaramari.
I think you suit the larme look really well, I think it just needs a bit of tweaking.
>>8846462

Here is >>8845558 's instagram

Monlily has some glasses in stock now. They're not prescription, but they give nice styling ideas:

http://www.dreamvs.jp/pc/index.php?toid=PC_ARTICLE&fromid=OUTSIDE&group_id=522832&pctop=newitem#article_result
Also Larme frequently does spreads for glasses styling. Here's the google images for the collaboration(s) they did with ALook:
https://www.google.ca/search?q=larme+x+alook&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjilcb63dzKAhXBVhQKHT-ACnkQ_AUIBygB&biw=1366&bih=643
>>8845630
Sorry, its been a busy day. I'll go through my archives later and see if I have anything applicable. The short haired girl I posted before is a model for monlily so if you check out their rakuten website you can see more of her.
>>8847660
I'd say if people were asking that you've got it perfect
Is there a Larme community or something of the sort in Tokyo? I'd love some friends to dress up with and to go shopping with.
>>8839659
The middle skirt is mattress kei
>>8845668
That's a model who goes by Tiffany Caddillac. She's super gorgeous. I think she's half Japanese-half Trini or Jamaican?
>>8839677
Where's this sukajan from? Is it Mon Lily?
>>8847911
jamaican
Someone here who can help me with accessories? Because I usually don't wear more than a bracelet...and even that is more like an optional burden to me.
So what's going well with larme aside from pompom earrings and cherries?
>>8848186
From Risa's photobook
>>8848200
Thank you! I think I have some things like these
Another coordinate. This one doesn't look so great worn, the top would be better on someone with thinner arms, and it's a little dressy for everyday.
>>8848235
Sauce on the top?
I want to see more anons' coords!
This new Kawaii Pateen tutorial is pretty larme (especially the hair):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0G2EZWFG1M
>>8848186
This is one of my favorite pics for larme jewelry inspo, I found it on tumblr and the person who posted said most of them are from AE.
>>8845668
another anon has already said but nope, very sadly not me! She's indeed gorgeous and has modelled for Katie, a brand frequently featured in larme.
>>8848560
>>8846462
All of those Tumblrs are legit, I'm adding acusriousidea, playgroundplaymates, and catnipteaparty. Those Tumblrs have amazing Larme back catalogs. They were around and blogging Larme before it was popular (I am one of those blogs pick your poison) Especially acuriousidea literally has not stopped blogging Larme for years. trust her if no one else on Tumblr.
I was looking through the old thread where y'all were discussing hair color and I have a question.
I'm a natural redhead, my hair color is about the same as pic related, would it still match the style? I wanted to get into larme when I get a new job and some cash.
>>8848235
Where is that dress from?
>>8848235
Sauce on the socks? This coord looks gorgeous, anon!
>>8845680
>>8848355
>>8848942
I found it in a charity shop a few years ago. The label says Xdye and lists European and what I'm assuming is Mexican (mex) sizes The skirt is miss selfridge, but I picked it up on ebay so no idea how old it is or if it's still in store.
>>8849271
Thanks very much. Socks are from ali, I bought them from this listing
>http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Hot-sales-Colorful-Glass-socks-Ultrathin-transparent-beautiful-crystal-elastic-Short-Women-silk-Bow-Socks/32456682394.html
But they're all over the site, and ebay.
>>8848932
Larme magazine features almost exclusively brown hair. That being said, I think any natural hair color can work, but it's not as obviously larme, and you'll need to really push the aesthetic through other things such as how you style it, your makeup, clothing, etc. Just generally, a perfect larme outfit with red hair will still look larme, but an outfit that barely passes with red hair won't.
Pic related is popular larme blogger Sara Mari who's hair is pretty reddish. Only example I could find though.
>>8848774
acuriousidea here. Thanks for the rec! A lot of my older stuff is cult party though so fair warning for anyone who goes back far enough.
If I could add to the list: hermysteriousbusiness, flowersinmylatte, larosepompon, auris-cosplay, virtualvanitas, lissette-sujuelfish, brainscratch, chiffontears. Not all of them post exclusively larme, but they post a lot of content, not just reblogs.
Also if you're gonna mention catnipteaparty you should mention her outfits blog, honey-noire. Just getting started but I'm a fan so far.
emiii-chan also posts nice quality larme scans on occasion.
I'm not at home so I might have missed someone. I'll check again later.
This is kind of off topic, but today I was at a consignment shoppe and found this dress. It has a tag that says Candy Stripper and I was wondering if it's an actual peice from the Japanese brand. I'll post the tag afterwards.
>>8851627
>>8851627
It might be the replica version but yeah basically.
>>8851627
Damn anon, I've wanted that dress for ages. Nice find!
>>8851700
Thanks! The women working the front desk said that international students sell clothing there a lot, so I'm hoping that they'll get rid of another piece sometime.
>>8851690
I hope it isn't a replica, but thanks for the image. Do you have anymore?
I saw a lot of anons make coords in a previous thread, thought I'd give it a try with western brands. I'm not that good at visualising stuff so concrit very welcome.
>>8852194
I think skip the belt, and the hair slides look a little out of place
>>8852194
Agree, don't do the belt or the flowers. Rest looks good, I personally vote pearl earrings.
>>8852194
source on the dress and the top?
>>8852194
I think the dress is perfect. Where's it from? I might try a little bit more frilly/girly shirt though, although I think the cut of that one is a good fit.
I like the black and pearl earrings a lot too.
Shoes are a little plain but they'll work! I think transparent black socks might be better than the frilly ones
>>8852202
>>8852212
Thanks, I thought the pic would look a little empty otherwise but I guess less is more.
>>8852216

Gimme sauce please!
I tried putting a larme kei inspired outfit together and admittedly it was a bit half hearted but for some reason I find the aesthetic so hard to simulate. Does anyone else have this problem?
>>8852874
I think it's because the magazine adds a lot to the aesthetic with backgrounds, filters, a story, etc. Same with makeup.
>>8852874
Nah, you're not alone. You basically need an instagram filter following you around IRL to do it justice.
>>8852852
>No black
>>8848528
does anyone have the links for these? I tried to find them but could only track down two of the styles at most using key words etc.
>>8852822
I think anything that's cute and feminine or cute with a a bit of quirkiness can work as long as it's not overly fussy or super embellished like some hime gyaru items can be (not that hime gyraru really goes in for flats).
There are a bunch of cute flats on places like aliexpress (pic related) but you can probably find things like bow flats etc in normie stores as well. I would just be careful of using things like typical looking boring ballet flats or anything slightly frumpy or overly practical/ purely functional looking.

And also not sure how I feel about the cardigan, one that is shorter might be a little less normie? I think a big coat or a girly bomber jacket would be cute too.
I attached the beginnings of a coord I'm trying to make, ive had the shirt forever and trying to decide if it's worth keeping or if I should say goodbye. Shoes I haven't decided on yet but probably something black, socks will be transparent black. No clue about necklace or hair though!

yep that's me. I'm still trying to get the hang of this!
This is some stuff I'm thinking of getting from AE, but would love to trim it down a little, anything that looks like I should hold off on? I know the black velvet dress is kind of tacky and hot topic-y but I something in me is drawn to it
>>8854049
Yeah, I was planning on putting some more lightness in with the accesories. I think that using a lighter top like >>8854102 suggested will help too. Thanks!
>>8855391
I think the black velvet dress is workable. Everything looks alright, if I had to take some out it would be the checkered crop top and the pom pom earrings cause the fluff doesn't look so great.

Shape and strap are alright, but the musical notes on the keys look a little tacky to me. And it could look a little shoehorned into outfits. I could see it in a black/white/grey toned outfit if you incorporated other musical symbols/motifs.

That backpack is so cute! Can anybody read what the embossed bit on it says? I'm on mobile (and blind as a bat on a good day!) so its teeny tiny
Still trying to figure out larme a bit, do you think this would work in an outfit? I love the bow at the back, but i wasnt so sure about it being denim
>>8858390
The fact it's denim isn't a problem, there are loads of examples of outfits in the magazine with denim pieces. The overall cut of the garment isn't really suitable though. I'm having a hard time describing what exactly is wrong with it, but I can't see this working well in an outfit.
>>8858402
not that anon but i think they start too high up. they're cut so the pinafore starts at her collarbone. it would look way better if it was lower down. i also think it's a bit to tight, almost rigid looking on the model. the a-line doesn't flair out that much and it looks like a box. the back seems pretty cute though(if that's a bow).
Did anyone manage to get anything from Risa's new ehyphen collection then? Seems like it must've been a bloodbath because basically everything is sold out. Really hope they'll restock, there's a few things I was after.
>>8859370
Ugh, same here. I would think they would restock with such a popular collection but I donno. I can always pick some stuff up secondhand later once the novelty wears out but damn.
I tried to get some stuff but using an SS just wasn't fast enough. Everything was sold out before they could confirm anything.
>>8859370
They usually have stuff that's sold out online in their retail store, I'll pop by Laforet tomorrow to check.
I don't get it. Am I the only one? Lolita is easy. I somewhat get dolly kei and fairy kei too. But larme? it looks like pretty much normalfag to me. I can't put my finger exactly on cpk either. Is it essentially dolly kei in lighter colors?
sorry for being stupid
Hey, I'm just getting into Larme kei myself, I've sort of been shifting to the style naturally with the clothes I've been buying but I was wondering if gulls could help me out.
( I already checked the FAQ but what I was thinking about isn't included)
Are there rules that you should follow/stick to to create a larme co-ord? Any staple wardrobe pieces you would suggest to buy?
good western shops you would suggest?
Good taobao stores you'd suggest?
And finally, where would be the best place to buy stuff in tokyo?
(General areas + good stores would be helpful, I'm only in Tokyo for a few days in a couple of weeks)
>>8860920
chiffon, turtle necks and gingham
>>8860898
The normies in your area must dress pretty weird then. I will say though that is definitely one of the most "normal" looking jfashions out there. The magazine is more mainstream than styles that developed on the street. But it also includes subtle detailing that sets it apart from other fashions or magazines.
The reason why it's so hard for people to grasp Larme is because it's more about the aesthetics than it is about any proper rules. Lolitas in particular have a hard time grasping it since the basics of lolita are so rigid (this isn't a criticism btw, it's just fact).
Here's an intro the mag that's pretty good: http://universal-doll.com/2014/08/larme-magazine-introduction/
The idea is to evoke the feeling of the magazine. The styling has a sweet yet melancholic feel. Some people have described the style as "sweet and girly, but a little bit mature or sexy." You'll really get the best feeling for it if you look through magazine scans.
The reason why some of the coords put together by Western girls in these threads look a bit normie is due to the fact that they're using Western brands. Plus they're usually collages or laid out coords which don't have the benefit of the makeup and hair looks that really pull it together from the magazine. Personally, I find using Western brands to be very difficult so I stick to Japanese brands and some taobao, but it can be hard for many to get a hold of them (not to mention the fact that Japanese brands have very limited sizing). I think as people get more skilled at coordinating that looks will get better. Most people are new to the style and are experimenting right now.
I'm still working on a good definition for the FAQ but it is a bit difficult to pin down in words. If anyone has a really good idea for a definition let me know.
Here are some scans of the new Larme 020 with some different looks that are popular in Larme right now. Maybe this will help some of you in pinpointing your style!
>>8860928
>>8860931

>>8860933
There's also a "romantic girly" section but I can't find a scan for it. If anyone has it, could you please post it? Otherwise I get my copy next week and I can post it then.
>>8860928
if someone asked i'd call this mori
>>8860938
your understanding of mori is lacking, then.
This honestly isn't my favorite spot of Yui Kanno. Her brand, lillilly, has a lot better pieces that still fit with the idea of "dream casual."
>>8860898
>Is it essentially dolly kei in lighter colors?
No. Not at all.
I'm starting to think that with some of these fashions you either get it, or you don't. You can't really teach someone how to capture a mood or a feeling aesthetically. Where as with lolita for example, you can teach them to follow a set of rules in order to succeed at creating a cohesive coordinate fairly easily.
>sorry for being stupid
Don't apologise, it's not a matter of stupidity.
>>8860898
I think it might be because some western normie stores sell stuff that is sort of 'toned down' larme, if that makes sense? Like if you put it in a larme coord it could work, but equally normies will just wear it with sneakers and dress it down.
Like pic related for example, has some larme elements to it but wouldnt be worn as a larme outfit by those who buy it (its from h&m)
>>8861087
I kinda agree, I think larme is something you learn by osmosis, absorbing a sense for the style over time. Dare I say if you've seen lots of pictures, own a few of the magazines etc but still don't 'get' it, then maybe you never will. Not all styles strike a chord with everyone, there is loads of stuff out there that I don't 'get', and I'm sure I'd fail within certain niche fashion communities when attempting to replicate the style.
>>8860925
The fb group has a thread going on about what larme means to them. Obviously they aren't experts and some of the replies are dumb but it might have some inspirational benefit if you're trying to pin down good words for your definition.
>>8860931
I loooove this. So 90s
>>8860973
Dream casual...is that a term from the magazine or did you come up with it? Perfect.
>>8861227
It's from the magaizne, see >>8860928
in Larme 020 they do a feature on transitioning Larme looks from winter to spring and gave some ideas along with some common styles you usually see in Larme. I wouldn't call them "substyles" or anything like that, it's just a way to group some of the different sets of clothing in the magazine together for this one issue. But it's nice to see all the different things that can fall under the Larme umbrella.
>>8861133
>Dare I say if you've seen lots of pictures, own a few of the magazines etc but still don't 'get' it, then maybe you never will.
I feel bad but this is pretty much the truth. I've seen people in past Larme threads who have done all the research and still have no clue and I just think, 'no one can help you then.' There's only so much that can explained, a lot more is just experience and an innate sense of style. If you don't have it, then a loose style like Larme probably isn't for you, sorry to say.
Who else is as hyped as I am?
>>8861311
How come there isn't a single definition? I don't mean strict rules, for example lolita=elegant girls in poofy dresses, goth=darkness, fairy kei=fluffy pastel color etc.
I saw larme defined as "girly but mature" but I find that too vague. Many people in the west dress "girly but mature" but they are not larme.
>>8861393
The basics of "western" and Japanese fashion are just different. Look at the basic cuts of dresses/skirts sold in the west vs Japan, the types of outfits worn by normies, the styling/makeup shown in popular magazines (like 17 vs popteen).
Even Japanese goth is way different than western goth.
I would say larme can be described as girly but mature within the sphere of jfashion. What exactly larme is has been discussed to death in these threads; maybe try checking the archive.
Basically, you need the basics of "cute" fashion, i.e. jfashion, with more mature or darker elements. Larme mixes texture, fabric, and silhouettes in feminine colours while remaining simpler/more toned down than things like CPK, dolly kei, mori. It features (relatively) simple hair/make that is a bit smokier or sexy than regular Japanese styles. There are certain themes/elements that come back pretty frequently, as you can see by looking at all of the images itt.
>>8861393
It's girly and dark, without being as dark as gothic lolita or as edgy as pastel goth. It's cute, but it's not sugary sweet like fairy kei or sweet lolita. It can be a little sexy in a vintage lingerie kind of way. It's a bit of a balancing act, honestly.
Colours are often black, white, various pinks, dusty pastels, grey, or red.
Hair is mostly dark brown styled into fluffy/wispy curls, but up-dos are also popular. Sparse curled bangs are a popular look. The styling usually looks "effortless"
Makeup is pretty neutral, but often uses a lot of red tones to give an unwell look (tired, sick, just cried, etc.) Big fake lashes and glitter are frowned upon.
>>8860928
Dang I love this look...so comfy.

>>8861727
Christ this is one of the cringiest music videos I've seen in a while. I do kinda get the sorta larme styling thing though, also I think she's popular in Japan for what it's worth.
There's probably a statement about colonialism and/or representation or some shit here, juxtaposed with a carefully crafted innocence and an appeal to naivety - designed to annoy lefties and reach out to a more carefree and unjaded perspective in equal measure. That's probably why I don't like it, it seems to be the laziest way to get all meta and cover all the bases, and an excellent way to keep yourself in the spotlight in the process.
Song's pretty damn catchy though, it probably didn't need a 'making a statement but totally not making a statement' video to go with it to get it off the ground.
>>8861743
it looks so pretty, kinda curious to see what it looks like without the mega filtering going on though.
>>8861817
Sort of, there's an additional comment from her on the video's meaning in the description.
Ignoring that it is very visually appealing.
>>8861817
Nah, I remember reading an interview where she said she shot it like that because she just felt like it. Even though her team warned her against doing it because it would rustle the SJWs. Which it did, of course.
>>8861837
Yeah I think she said she did it because she drew inspiration from African music for the song so she wanted to include it in the video. anyway, we're not here to argue about this stuff.
A little more on topic, i think I saw a picture of her in an ad for a larme brand? It was something saramari reblogged recently, I'll see if I can find it.
>>8861780
Hmm... Then try flattening them out as much as you can, then stick them with you in the bathroom next time you shower. The steam might fix them up a bit.
>>8861819
There are launch day pictures on twitter. Still looks nice with less filters.
Stupid question, but is there a boystyle equivalent to Larme?
>>8861844
Katie did a special set of her Baby Love LP that came with a remix and a limited edition tshirt.
>>8861837
you don't make a video that specific just because 'you feel like it' and I'm sure she was very aware of the 'SJW rustling' it may cause. The description in the video (which I hadn't read) also strikes me as being very child-like in its innocence and apparent sincerity. That still comes across very 'making a statement but totally not making a statement' to me.
She studied philosophy at MA level, whatever one might think about the qualification, I don't think anyone can reach that level of education and retain such apparent child-like innocence to any genuine degree in the real world. And now I’m doing the very thing that irked me about the video in the first place - I saw it as something crafted largely just to get people talking but with minimal effort; doing something that will inevitably cause controversy, whilst appealing to innocence. It's also a very handy way to keep yourself in the spotlight; people will forever defend you, berate you, or read into your multi-levelled 'artistry'.
Anyway, sorry for shitting up this thread with my uncalled for bollocks.
Dropping a pic for redemption.
>>8861961
Isn't that the point of pop music though?
>>8861987
kek, pretty much. I'm just sandy as I think it epitomises the very worst aspects of pop music. Her statement about how the song is about a girl with a broken heart, equating it to the broken hearts of 'the school girls in Nigeria who where kidnapped' whilst creating a video using post-colonial backdrops in Kenya, a completely different fucking country over 4,000km away is pure cringe. I love pop music but it doesn't need shit like this.
I really like the larme make up style, especially the darker looks. However I feel like the big plump lips are such a feature to it (maybe Risa's face is just ingrained in my mind as the look) but my lips are super thin and as the soft stained or tinted lips I can't really over draw them. Basically any crit on how to make my make up more larme or think of a way around the lip situation.
>>8862228
Try smudging lipliner a little over your lip line, I think you could also tone down the eye makeup a little. Otherwise you look really cute anon!
>>8861467

>>8861867
I don't think so(?). I get the impression that larme magazine is very much about women. There also aren't any discussions about outfits for dates with men or articles about what men like in general etc, or really any mention of men at all. Everything about it kinda feels female led, not in a forthright 'smash the patriarchy' type way, but in a subtly feminist 'all for the sake of my own enjoyment' kinda way, removed from aomoji-kei ideals.
I am kinda curious about what the closest thing to a male larme counterpart might be though. I don't know much about Japanese men's mags so I have no idea.

>removed from aomoji-kei ideals
Are you confusing aomoji and akamoji or did I just interpret this wrong?
I see what you mean and I agree for the most part, but even in the editor's own explanation of the aesthetic, she made sure to add that the look would ~make men want to protect you. I've seen people on here argue that this doesn't necessarily mean that the wearer wants to be protected, but why would you even throw that in as a point of the style if it doesn't acknowledge or cater to men? It's rooted in the idea of creating a space for girls first and foremost, but I definitely don't think it's entirely removed from male expectations, especially when I think about the men who buy it because it features their favorite AKB48 idols and so on.
>>8862228
irrelevant I know, but you'd look way, way, way better without that pink shit in your hair.
>>8862973
disagree, the pink definitely adds to her look.
>>8862228
lip tints are actually pretty good for over drawing the lips in my experience... I usually draw over my top lip a bit with the lip tint then go over it with a matte lipstick. there's actually a pretty recent makeup tutorial by taylor that kinda shows what i mean. I think your makeup is cute and would fit the aesthetic but since your blue eyed and blonde it looks too intense for larme. id try lilac pinks and oranges next time and brown liner/ macara.
>>8862918
I'm gonna have to agree. While I love Larme and definitely am not interested in the style because I want to appeal to men, it's hard to deny that much of it IS appealing to men (at least in a Japanese context where cute and sexy aren't mutually exclusive). It has a certain coyness to it. It's not as overt as, say, Western nymphet style (a topic which has been beat to death in past Larme threads), but the whole sickness makeup and tears theme gives off a fragile feel which is supposed to appeal to men in a way. It's really not a subversive style like original gyaru or lolita. It's not meant to be. That said, iirc there have been no men featured in the magazine, unlike other japanese fashion mags that feature men prominantly in shoots. It is a magazine for women, by women.
I'm not really sure what all of this has to do with anon's original question about a men's version though. It's a women's magazine, so there is no male equivalent. And since it didn't develop organically on the street like dolly kei or something, it's not really something that fashionable Japanaese men have striven towards. You could probably pick out men's looks from street snap sites that would complement Larme though. I'll take a look.
>>8863009
This one? http://youtu.be/ue3VB27OhB0
I'm not her biggest fan but this is a pretty good tutorial imo. I'm gonna try it for Larme. Might go a bit more subtle on the lip than hers.
>>8863094
OP here. Sorry I probably should have clarified this, but i'm not necessarily looking for Larme for men, but maybe like a more boyish way of styling it maybe? Like girls wearing ouji, but for Larme if that makes sense.
>>8863159
I suppose you could look at pants or vests with lace up details. I don't remember seeing very much in the magazine since its a very girly style. I'll see what I can find.
>>8862918
I meant to say 'Akamoji-kei' in that post, my bad
>>8863101
Yea! I agree, i thought her lips were cute but a little too much for me.
>>8862326
Thank you anon, I'll try to tone it down a bit next time I try.
>>8862973
It gives me such leeway with my roots compared to when my hair is just bleach blonde, when I redo my roots again though I might not redo the pink.
>>8863009
Thank you, I might try it out with a lip tint but I only have a etude house cherry lip tint that doesn't stain very much and is a coral colour. Do you have any recs for lip tints? If not I'll probably just ask the make up general. I am definitely going to try a brown liner next time, I just don't have one at the moment but will pick one up soon.
>>8863101
Thank you for linking it.
>>8862228
I think you've applied your make-up really well and I think larme style is gorgeous on you. I do agree with other anons though that this particular look is a touch on the harsh side with your pale hair. I think toned down eyes more like pic related would look even better, perhaps using dark brown liner and mascara rather than black as well.
I really like the pink anon, it suits you and I think fits ok with larme style since it's not super 'out there'.
>>8863229
dude, i just use cheap elf. it works well but the container does dry out pretty fast.
>>8861858
I love the larme look but when I see pictures like this, I miss creativity. They all look like they copied each other..
>>8863622
They're all wearing stuff from Risa's ehyphen collection so ofc all these outfits will look quite similar
>>8863159
No. I hate this. If you change one of the fundamental points of a fashion, it is not that fashion any more. Feminine girlishness is to larme as a poofy skirt is to lolita. If you want boystyle, wear boystyle.
Does anyone have any recs for a good eyeshadow palette for Larme? I'd like to have a quick go-to rather than trying to pick a bunch of colors on my own.
I'm looking for a good matte palette with mostly Browns and pinks but I thought I'd ask and see if anyone else had found anything.
>>8863737
NYX had a paris collection that looked nice, I didnt particularly like how the shades looked on my skintone-but I'm a bit more of a yellow undertone so a lot of things look a bit off. This Merci Beaucoup. Sorry for giant files size btw
What are some good larme hair styles for longer hair + no bangs?
Eventually I'll cut my hair shorter and maybe into bangs but I don't think I'm ready for such a drastic change right now.
>>8863947
I have a few anon
>>8863959
>>8863737
I use coastal scents revealed 2 a lot for larme.
>>8863783
That looks like what I'm going for.
I saw that Too faced is having a sale right now. I was thinking of picking up the natural matte palette for use with Larme. What do you guys think?
>>8864015
I have the other one thats more sparkly and honestly I love it to death- it's my everyday go to look. The original choclate pallette is really nice but I only use a few of the shades- still, it has some pinks and a dark red if youre interested.
The natural matte you picked out is a good choice, and you'd probably be fine with a little blush pallet to get the reds and pinks you might want. it really depends how much you plan on using blushes around the eyes.
A couple of other anons are in this thread have ordered the fluffy pink jumpers with the heart cut-out on the front, I got mine in today and have to say it's not that great.
The listing I ordered from pictured both cropped and full length jumpers, the jumper I got was full length. The material is really nice and much fluffier and softer than I expected - comparable to a couple of jumpers I have from new look.
The heart cut out is nice, there's a thin bit of mesh sewn in, I'm guessing to stop it from fraying. No matter what I did though (Tucking the shirt in to my tights and skirt) the heart shifted over to the right hand side slightly.
The shoulders and arms are cut in an extremely unflattering way. There's quite a lot of excess material on the seam, which makes the shoulders very bulky. I'm an extreme pear (34 - 26 - 39) and this jumper makes me look like an inverted triangle. The arm holes are really large, but the sleeves are way too short.
I can take some worn pics if anyone is interested.
>>8864365
Please, also a link to where you bought it ( So I know where not to buy from.)
>>8864365
I'd like worn pics! Really sad to hear that its unflattering tho
>>8864397
>>8864382
I'll grab the link in a sec, gotta post the pics from my phone. Sorry for room mess.
My watch is about an inch in diameter, the sleeves are almost 2" short when the shoulder seam sits where it's supposed to. You can see how off centre the heart is too.

>>8864432
The onespo original kind of does the same thing. It doesn't look good on me unless I wear a super minimizing bra.
>>8864365
I'm also a pear (35 - 30 - 41) and sweaters from China ALWAYS fit like that on me. I think a lot of the "inverted triangle" thing happens because they're made to fit a little big, only "big" for Chinese people is regular sized for my hips, and still big on my waist and bust, so it gets a frumpy triangle shape.
>>8863432
felt tip
>>8864439
Man, that's a shame. There's not much there to really minimize on me desu, ha.
>>8864448
You've basically summed up the exact problems with this top. Everywhere it's baggy isn't baggy enough to look purposeful on me. Except for the short arms. I think this is probably a sparing expense thing though, there is no way on earth Chinese people's arms are this much shorter proportionately.
The listings selling cropped tops might be a little better, so if and when anons who bought those get them it'd be nice if you could report in on how they are.
>>8864425
This is a problem with a lot of Japanese/Chinese clothes. It's really hard to figure out what will fit you and what won't until you try it. Sorry the sweater didn't work work out for you anon, but thanks for providing photos. I don't have as much of a problem with clothes width wise, but length is definitely an issue for me.
>>8864029
Thanks for the review! I think I'll go for it. I have enough blush to last me until the end of time, so if I need to add more 'pop' to my eyes I'll use blush. Problem is right now I don't have any subtle eyeshadow colors and I don't want to end up looking like "I just discovered Larme I love swankiss xoxoxo!!"
>>8863159
you do very occasionally see pants styles and slightly tomboyish looks but they are usually in addition to super feminine accessories and / or hair and make-up. If you want to take a slight more boyish route, make sure it's in the vain of a 'slightly tomboy-ish girl with an obviously cute and feminine face / persona'. Imagine feminine tomboyish, like a short-haired pixie girl (think twiggy and her style) or some shit like that.
having said this, I wouldn't even recommend experimenting in this direction until you confidently already have more conventional larme style down.
http://lady-carnivalesque.tumblr.com/post/139363811056/the-larme-aesthetic
There's an interesting post on tumblr about some of the literary themes in Larme.
>>8839652
Is that a coordinate? The sheer dress over that sweater looks awful.
Was wondering, are there any models featured in larme with black hair? I mean, I’m not going to avoid dressing in the style because I have black hair, or dye it just to 'fit' the look but it's nice to see images of people with similar hair colours etc for inspiration.
Is black hair considered unlarme-like (by the magazine's standards)? The model in the middle here >>8866306 (I don't know her name) appears to have black-black hair.
>>8866306
I read that earlier today and found it interesting, I'm inclined to agree as well - larme has lots of literary and film references scattered throughout, which seems to fit its 'cultured girl' image.
I still find it odd that the editor threw in the comment about 'make men want to protect you' as mentioned here >>8862918, it just seems to be in direct contrast to how the magazine actually portrays itself.
Perhaps it relates to the idea of looking vulnerable and cute but not actually needing protecting at all? - A bit like being adorable looking but quietly confident and generally self-assured. It's not an obviously super 'edgy' fashion, but it does still come across to me as being a touch subversive in a low-key kinda way; appearing vulnerable, with visual themes that are almost a pastiche of femininity yet being an independent and grounded individual seems to fit that idea too.
>>8866438
The fragility is just a ploy to lure in men so we can steal their souls
>>8866350
>I don't know her name
>name is on the damn cover
oops what a prat
Aww shit I forgot about the date regarding bon bon.. I hope there is something left if I go there tomorrow
>>8867225
I'm rooting for you anon!
>>8866306
This is a pretty interesting post but I kiiind of feel like she might be making it all out to be deeper/more subversive than it is. I mean she's extrapolating all this from a single photo shoot. Made me think of this blog that someone linked on the otome thread ages ago: http://neojaponisme.com/2010/09/09/real-harajuku-girls-for-real/
Also
>the modern, feminine, and non-white perspective

>>8867225
Good luck anon!
>>8867353
I think so too. What's incredible is that for all of that, she didn't really write much at all, let alone go in-depth on her points to make a convincing argument. A discussion of "literary themes" is some pointless fluff based on one book and one movie? Uh.
>>8867372
*one play, I should say. My salt blinded me for a moment.
I also didn't like that she included the reader's criticism of the recent issue just to be like "no, you just don't understand how ~subversive this is."
>>8839640
i got a pair of these in flats version at my local kmart !

>>8866306
I really hate the way this is presented, its so pretentious. Its like she wants it to seem intelligent by trying to make it seem like an academic article or something. If she had just spoken about literary themes in the style then fair enough, but I kind of feel like she had the point she wanted to make and twisted larme to fit it rather than the other way round. I feel like she is reading a lot into something that isnt really there. Ive not read the Blue Valentine issue, but is it for sure a reference to the film as opposed to the use of the word 'blue' to mean melancholy? (again, havent read the issue so i cant really comment on that)
Also just saying 'this thing is like this thing in a film/book' is not a literary analysis.
Someone commented on it saying "In a way Larme could be anything and anything could become Larme." Not really, i dont think.
Pic related from the op blog
>>8868048
It came off as a tad pretentious and yeah, it's ultimately still about encouraging readers to pay out and consume shit. Larme is full of film and literary references though, I don't think she pulled that out of her ass or anything, it's more the slightly condescending 'I know how 2deep4U this actually is' tone that was a bit off-putting.
Larme has always seemed pretty hipstery to me, including a lot of the trappings that label seems to encompass - self-awareness, irony, meta-shit, 'embracing a consumerist world with my tongue held in my cheek', all that kinda shit.
The idea of buying stuff more cleverly than other people is pretty funny in itself really, but when everything is presented as so god damn self-referential, it doesn’t seem to actually be taken on board as criticism.
>>8868048
Those tights are a messsss.

Is that heart on her cheek drawn with eyeliner or is it a tattoo?
>>8868402

Ok the Larme x Star Wars thing may seem cringy but it's literally In the magazine, I think vol19. I'll check when I get home. I side eyed a little when I saw it.
>>8839632
can we get an aliexpress list going?
>>8868525
yeah, it's on page 52 as part of the larme x pop culture type pages
'For those of you who want to articulate yourselves and your identities through fashion but don’t know where to begin, I hope my ootds will provide that spark of inspiration for your own look(s).'
Yeah that is admittedly some serious cringe, it might as well read 'if you're struggling to articulate yourself, I can help speak for you', not to mention the use of 'articulate' in this context - last time I checked 'express' was still a perfectly good word.
>>8864448
Where DO you buy your clothes? We have similar measurements
>>8868584
The only thing I'm hesitant about with creating an aliexpress/taobao list is that most of the listings are gonna be replicas. That's why I haven't included anything in the spreadsheet. I personally don't have a huge problem with it but I wanted to keep things from devolving into into replica wank like lolita threads.
>>8868346
Yeah i wasnt even sure what they were for a second, thought it was a scarf or something. Darth Vader on the crotch is a strange image to say the least
>wheezy farts
>>8868585
Found it. Here's the Merry Jenny portion. Very meh.
>>8868755
I've been actively looking for "replicas" - can you really consider them replicas when the designs are so generic? - for a long time, and there really isn't much out there anon.
I think the fact that larme isn't as burando orientated, and the designs are generic without prints (Because that's all anyone really cares about regarding replicas in lolitaverse) the wank will remain minimal or hopefully none-existent.
>>8868680
My larme wardrobe isn't huge, but most of it is thrifted and a little DIY. Look for sweaters that are actually meant for XL+ sizes if you want an oversized look (the tag on my favorite and most complimented sweater says 2X). I have a lot of really great tops and sweaters that I've thrifted, but I'm really lacking in bottoms, so I'm hoping to make some skirts or something over my midterm break.
I have one sweater dress (pic related) from MonLily that is a very nice sweater, but not a very nice dress. The rest of my stuff from asia is accessories. If everything you thrift is not *quite* larme, you can always give it a little push with accessories that are meant for the aesthetic.
>>8866306
I feel like there's a good article about literature references in larme, but this doesn't have nearly enough evidence to make a solid case. C+, Lady Carnivalesque.
>>8867353
This article and the other ones on the site (I like the one about the glasses without lenses) probably comes closest to explaining larme t b h. It's all about creating an aesthetic consumer lifestyle and tribe that can be picked off the shelf. It's the same pattern that's been around since the start of kawaii culture.
>>8868808
>but I'm really lacking in bottoms,
This is also the bane of my existence, I feel you anon. It's not finding suitable skirts that's the problem, it's finding suitable and flattering skirts.
I'm a short pear, anything midi-length makes me look like a fat stump, and those full length mesh overlay skirts are just drag nets for floor debris. Pencil skirts from Asia are never gonna fit, and the Western ones are lacking all of the cute details. Sighhhh.
>>8868775
Well yes, they are replicas. It's not like designer knock offs where just enough is changed to fly under the radar, Larme brands are literally replicated. I mean again I don't care all that much but call a spade a spade. I don't know if that would count under the law though. I'm not well versed in the legalities of design knock offs.
And I don't know if you're using aliexpress or taobao but taobao has a fair number of replicas if you know where to look.
While there might not be a heavy brand presence in the West, it's likely much more brand oriented in Japan. You just have to look at the recent e hyphen bonbon mess to see that. I don't think it's as important in the Western scene currently which is nice. I hope it doesn't develop an exclusive air.
Ine thing I've noticed is that some brands do knock off each other. Here's Liz Lisa winter 2015 vs Ank Rouge spring 2016 (Excuse the ~kawaii~ collage I only had purifies apps to work with)
>>8868895

Sage for autocorrect fail
>>8868895
Those shoes are actually knocked off a Finnish brand called Mina Parikka. They were really popular with models a few years ago.
Has anyone who had had trouble finding Larme stuff on their size considering sewing things themselves? I'm really tempted to give it a shot. Even if my sewing skills are pretty nonexistent at the moment.
>>8868911
Haha not surprised. I'll look it up, thanks!
>>8868911
>>8868916
Japanese brands are so original.
>>8868918
>that bag
need
>>8868926
It's an old bag from gvgv. Looks like the brand has been reimaged and renamed so good luck finding it.
>>8868916
It definitely happens a lot more than people realize, especially with niche high fashion brands. Kind of puts the whole replica debate into perspective.
>>8849348
That makeup/shoop is terrifying
>>8869027
You've never been in the actual bad makeup threads have you?
could anyone post some examples of coords with lace bras/lingerie underneath sheer blouses? I really like the style but need more inspiration.
>>8868912
I've been considering it too, though my size isn't really the problem, just limited budget.
>>8868895
Upper shoes are supposed to remind seifukus and the lower rabbits.
