It's been a while since we've had one of these. Some people find them pretty cringey, but I've seen some interesting comic/sci-fi/weeby weddings. Ever been to a themed wedding? Post best and worst.
I think they tried to be too many things. It was "Art Deco" but I didn't see much Art Deco in it just the invitations. Then it was pink Sailor Moon and normal shit all thrown in a big mix.
Friends had a normal wedding for the most part. The only weeby aspects were that the groom's cake was One Piece themed and the bride wore a gown modelled after a video game character's ballgown.
If you weren't familiar with the game, it wasn't even vaguely obvious that it wasn't a normal wedding gown, and the cake was cute. Better made than the off-roading/4WD cake my cousin's husband had as his groom's cake.
Found when looking through some pics hoping to find a nice themed wedding
I knew a girl that literally wanted Yuna from FF10's wedding scene. Not just the dress the scene. She wanted the groom to be dressed up with wig of Seymour and find a venue like the place shown. The entire works.
I don't understand why you'd want to be someone else on /your/ wedding day. Fandom decorations, generic fantasy wear -- I get that. But a literal costume and wig speaks to some massive underlying issues.
I knew a couple that dressed as Lulu and Euphemia for their wedding. Best man and woman were Dizzy and Sol Badguy iirc. They split less than a year later. She claimed she hit him, but she was already a huge drama whore and eternal victim.
I went to a steampunk wedding once, the bride looked awful and none of the other guests made the slightest effort apart from me and about 2 other people. They even called the local newspaper to cover it and lied about how they met saying the bride and groom met at work when actually the groom had been best friends with the brides father and held her as a newborn... There was another wedding in the room next door and everyone was pressing against the window to look and laugh. It was a messy day... The best man was meant to be the entertainment and do stand up comedy but he didn't prepare a single thing and started asking the audience if they had any jokes... He got removed when he kept asking if he could tell a certain "death star" joke that was apparently rather offensive or lewd. Might still have some photos somewhere
> husband and I plan a pretty normal Fag wedding.
> only weeb thing we do is pick Vanilla by gackt as the cake cutting song as a har har it's called vanilla
> really dirty song but the only person who would know is husband's Japanese teacher and it's rare anyone pays attention during it anyways.
> teacher decides last minute to bring his kids ( was strictly a non kids thing but the guy is sort of strange)
>too late now. Gackt is singing about his erection or whatever
> nervously look over to their table.
> sensei is dying laughing.
The groom's cake at a co-worker's wedding I attend was shaped like the Death Star. It was honestly really cool looking and the bride ordered it in secret, so he was super surprised and loved it. Other than that the wedding was normal and beautiful, the bride's dress was one of the nicest I had seen in a long time. But I just remember how excited the groom was when he saw his cake, he was practically glowing and the bride was so happy he was enjoying himself.
I want an elegant normalfag wedding but I'd like for the bride and groom cake topper to be some sort of character figures. It would be the only weeby touch but whatever it's my cake. Pic kind of related
are you talking about one of the owners of Google, who ruined millions of dollars of protected forest area for his fucking stupid lotr wedding?
This shit is just fun.
I'd probably have a low-key nerdy wedding. Back in the day I wanted to make a Rose Bride dress for my wedding, probably not now given its connotations and it looks kinda meh in white.
Dunno... so many different ideas. Don't even have a boyfriend so whatever.
I have friends who are getting married who are huge into Star Wars and Harry Potter. I'm eager to see what happens but they're both poor-fags so it probably will be lackluster.
I've thought of a zelda-themed wedding. I think it would be cute. but, with this dress.
can this just be a wedding thread?
there's a small chance that I have to marry someone for the purpose of receiving state benefits when I'm moving abroad to study, and I'm kinda thinking of using this as my wedding dress (it'd be a non-event, just registering it and maybe going out for drinks afterwards). it looks kinda edgydesu but I think it could be coorded in a classic way that doesn't make it look super ghost-y.
it's also one of my DDs so hey, might as well
Go for it. The great thing about wearing a lolita dress to your wedding is that you can always wear it again in another coord. Plus they're comparatively cheap to actual wedding dresses.
thanks anon, I've been kinda unsure about this but it's not like I'll be affording a wedding dress for it as a poor student, and I really like this one. maybe my tastes'll change in the meantime or I'll find something nicer, but for now she's the one.
Wow, it looked nice....but how excessive. Just a wedding in a forest would be lovely, you don't need to build all that stuff etc. Just maybe put some temporary flooring and decoration. If it was actually lotr inspired then hmmmm, kind of goes against a lot that Tolkien stood for, he would have hated it.
Haha oh shit. I remember reading those lyrics for the first time. Pretty fast paced cake cutting song there. Did you circle around your cake as though it was that big fucking glowing orb he's obsessed with in the MV?
I always think of this couple in regards to doing Japanese shit at weddings.
There was a follow up article that explains all the stuff he made was temporary, he only hired the space which was currently tarmac'd over for caravans or something and he just decorated it then took it all down again. No damage actually happened
JFC I hope that's not supposed to be Gilgamesh but that's definitely Saber. I don't know why the hell people weather the fuck out of Gilgamesh armor it's not like he ever puts himself in a situation where it will actually get dirty.
This one always stood out to me as a great example of how to have geeky elements in your wedding without being so OMG WE'RE SUCH GEEKS LOL
I did see that, and while they clearly weren't as harmful as the first article assumed, you simply cannot run something like that in a natural environment without causing some damage. Tolkien would still have hated it (although idk if it was Tolkien themed or just fantasy)
>not doing Ashe and Rasler or Yuna's actual wedding outfit
I've been wanting to do Ashe and Rasler's wedding outfits with my husband since FF12 first came out, even though he wouldn't make a very good Rasler. He's more of a Balthier or Vayne type.
I don't have access to pics (dad has them all and doesn't use facebook)
But basically they wrote their own vows which alternated between HIMYM quotes and my dad talking about how much he loves Apple products.
When the bride came down the isle we all had to open umbrellas when she passed us in the pews (apparently she didn't know about that either)
They played the opening as a wedding song as well.
I love my dad but Jesus christ that wedding was horrific
My wedding was fairly traditional, but we added a couple geeky elements. He gave me that feather in my bouquet at the start of the wedding because Harvest Moon is my favorite game series.
My bf adores HIMYM, I don't really like it but it's whatever. I thought little touches like Farhampton tickets for the invites, groomsmen wearing the ducky tie (duck is also my nickname for him) etc. But you've made me see the error of my ways.
I'm planning my wedding for the summer. I wanted to throw in some geeky stuff but decided against it because I don't want my wedding photos to look dated 5 years from now. I am buying a ton of decorations from AE though.
I really wanted a lolita-looking dress but they're all so short. I really don't dig the flat form fitting satin dresses it seems like everyone else is getting. Gotta have poof.
We went a similar route with keeping the geek elements very toned down. We met through gaming so I used a blue D20 as my bouquet charm / something blue, and we had comic book balloons on sticks as photo props during the reception.
