Where did the last thread go? I'm not done with this fashion yet!
>Warning: Aspects of gurokawa may include vomiting, self-loathing, abortion, and general self-harm.
Discuss, post inspo, self post, ask question, share links.
Please no long discussions about how edgy it is, nobody cares
I need this. It's cute and creepy without being pastel vomit.
I really like this style but I feel like I have too much of an old face to pull it off. Would absolutely be into something more mature, and more gothic.
You could wear some sort of mask. Maybe a gas mask, or like a mask like in the op pic (can't remember what they're called) or something that looks like a doll face or something
Honestly, as long as you get the aesthetics right, I wouldn't care much about how your face looks. You can also wear wigs with longer bangs that cover a bit more
Yea idk, I'll contribute from last thread
Also, I made some wallpapers (just really simple using some of these pics) for myself, because I think they're so cute, would anyone be interested in them if I uploaded them on imgur or something?
They're not super great, since I've just pretty much thrown them into photoshop and added a background that matched the background that they had
Some of them aren't really guro but I think they're pretty cute so I added those aswell
Hope this link works, I'm not very good with imgur: http://imgur.com/a/aY7WZ
Just because we have similar creepy taste doesn't mean I want to put up with this shit
Thought this fit the aesthetic even tho it's fandom related
The sfx is so badly done it hurts to look at it, but I love her eye makeup.
If you're not afraid of a little lewd, /d/ has a thread up called creepy waifu or something that has a lot of nice inspo
A lot of it is none lewd too but yeah, you can't really scroll through without seeing lewd (obv since its a nsfw board)
I posted this in the aliexpress thread, but if you want the shirt from pic related, I found it on ali somehow. It probably isn't wonderful quality but if any of you order it, tell me how it is.
Back to report: you should be fine reading it. They get all the super dark stuff out of the way in the first couple of chapters and the pet thing is mentioned once and in no details. I'm on chapter 18 and I'm really enjoying it kind of reminds me a lot of Death Note tho.
It actually is menhera but in order to know that you would need to be abel to read the text. The designer is SuicideDoll666 and she makes a shitton of yandere themed stuff, even underwear (pic related).
Bad thing is all her stuff is very limited and quickly sold out.
I'm completely caught up I'm going to scream (sorry for off topic here's an unrelated picture)
I just started 22 and the part between Asagiri and Yasamura made me emotional, they're so cute.
I've finally caught up and I feel the same way. I hate the brother so I hope Nijimin's fan is successful.
>abortion is so taboo it's associated with harmful and dangerous behaviors like purging and low self esteem
Sigh. I'd ask why pregnancy, which is by far more dangerous and common, isn't on the gurok radar but I guess there's nothing kawaii about letting strangers know you're a bimbo with a bulbous abdomen to prove it.
Yes liking stuff like this is so batshit we're so abnormal that must be why this picture and others like it have 11000+ notes. We aren't special or different or abnormal because we have different taste from you.
Yeah, this manga is really good. Picked it up a little while ago and am now dying inside because it hasn't updated since November 15th (maybe 18th?).
But yeah there's lots of abusive behavior shown, especially familial abuse. It's not extremely graphic, but it's very clear and heartbreaking. If you can't fuck with that, then stay away.
The animal death isn't that bad. It's like one scene, and then it's gone and it never comes up again.
Definitely saddening, though.
Anon, I'm so hurt about this new update. My poor Tsuyuno.
I only can suggest japanese artists and brand fansites, most that posted fashion got inactive after a while...
Not even pastel goth, looks like fairy kei with bats because the sooner still requires mostly black.
I consider gurokawaii an umbrella term. Like it can look like a lot of things but as long as it fits the creepy cute aesthetic it works. I'm curious as to if others think this way or if anyone else has another definition for it?
Could those "gothic AND cute" franchises like Ruby Gloom, Lenore The Cute Little Dead Girl, Emily The Strange, etc be considered gurokawaii? Mostly asking because >>8774228 in particular (and some of the art in general) gives me some mad Lenore vibes.
They're more suited to the creepycute as the whole point of the gurokawaii is the gore aspects rather than spooky. So you'll see a lot of knives, bruises, blood etc used in a cutesy way where you probably wouldn't see that in stuff for kids.
Wait, so what about stuff that seems to border more on a "creepy" factor than actual gore (and doesn't include knives or other weapons) like >>8771066, >>8771073, >>8770671?
Tbh I feel like the only real consistencies for this aesthetic are medical themes (because menhera) and a generally dark outlook on things often considered innocent or sweet. The amount of actual gore/violence incorporated seems to vary greatly, and cross into BDSM sometimes in cases like the shirt in >>8772880 or the choker in >>8774078.
Like, I really want to know what separates stuff like pic related from the stuff ITT. I know there's a difference, but is it just that one is Japanese and the other isn't?
The posts in this thread are quite inconsistent but you're right about the dark outlook. Things can feature cute girls in a BDSM or gore situation and people could consider it gurokawaii but it would have to be at least Japanese inspired in the style as that's the kawaii part.
The usual art in the style is quite delicate compared to something like HTF. I wouldn't say it's cute myself but they're obviously drawn in a style which is supposed to be the opposite of gruesome.
For what it's worth, HTF is decently popular in Japan and they sometimes come out with Japan-exclusive goods and such for it. Kyary did a collaboration with them a few years ago.
Anyway, I think there's probably some overlap, but it feels different to me because the gore is happening to those bright and heavily stylized animal characters, whereas most of the content in these threads depicts that with girls, usually drawn in a soft and traditionally pretty/cute way. I feel like that human connection is important somehow, maybe in how the wearers relate to those images. But I don't want to talk out my ass about it too much, just speculation.
>I feel like that human connection is important somehow, maybe in how the wearers relate to those images. But I don't want to talk out my ass about it too much, just speculation.
That's Menhera, not Gurokawa.
I actually think these are pretty cute. Personally, I would creepers with a bigger platform and some cuter laces, but that's just me.
That's not the issue rather than people trying to restrict the definition of something that doesn't have one outside of everything grotesque+cute, this could be pretty much everything from gore to monsters from drugs to wierd hentai prints.
I agree I'm just saying for future reference let's just put them all in the title so we don't have to have this conversation again. I think once someone tried calling a thread 'creepy cute general' and people got pissed.
I don't know if it applies really, but the game .flow has a lot of creepy inspo.
/co/ passing by and dropping this... Just try to not read it at one sit, it's a little heavy
take a look at akatako.net. quite a few of the artists on there create guro and eroguro works, its quite distinct and definately not just blood and guts. if you don't get it by then, well we can't help you lol.
himifashion posted this so I could probably find it cheaper on taobao or aliexpress but still cute
Once someone popular wears something on a streetsnap, it suddenly starts to spread like wildfire.
The word grotesque will be pronounced as "gurotesuku" in Japanese. The word gore would be pronounced as "gooru" in Japanese. Since "guro" is the first two syllables of the former, we can surmise that it's that, and not the latter.
Speaking of Mahou Shoujo Site, I really want to cosplay Kosame. Are her official colors the white hair/pink cardigan/green & yellow tartan seifuku? (Sorry if it isn't appropriate for this thread, I'll include a related inspo picture)
I plan on cosplaying Nijimi. I'm so excited because then I'll be able to find people irl who are into the manga. It's been my motivation to better my body.
Personally I'm not a big omocat fan, but I think this sweater is pretty cute and goes with the guro look.
This one too, I guess.
Pretty sure SJW would go apeshit over menhera and gurokawaii in general so there's not much to lose anyway.
(pic not related)
honestly sjws have such short memories they'll have completely forgotten about it by june. people I follow who reblogged omocat hate are already reblogging omocat stuff without realizing/remembering
You do know that people got triggered by things before tumblr too, right? Like soldiers with ptsd can have panic attacks if they maybe watch a movie about war
Trigger warnings may be abused by special snowflake tumbrtards but putting a trigger warning for selfharm and such when you're linking a manga that contains lots of selfharm is not really that weird
It's a bit different than just putting "tw: blood" when talking about that you scraped up your knee
I've been looking too. I found this necklace on my searches, but that's about it.
I was thinking of planning a shibari themed outfit, but with guro elements, like tinging the hands blue from loss of circulation. It's a pipe dream I haven't thought about too much, idk.
People in general, yes, but I'm sure you don't know every single person with self harm issues, eating disorders etc etc
I'm not saying they're always needed, but some people can really appreciate it. Even if it doesn't cure whatever you're dealing with, it can help you to not think about it and therefor cope better at the moment
I really want some t-shirts with some of the pics in this thread. First of all, I'm not sure if I can find source for all the pictures, and even if I do, the chances of the person selling that exact pic as a t-shirt are pretty slim
Do you guys think it would be okay to use them with like transfer paper and print on t-shirts?
Like, I would obviously never sell them or claim it's my own design, but I really love some of the motives and I want them as shirts so badly
I know that, I'm not retarded. Like I said, I will only use it for me.
I'll obviusly try to find and contact the artist, but maybe they don't speak english? Maybe they're not active anymore? Is it really that bad to make a shirt that only I will wear? And if someone says "hey that's my art" and has proof of it, I wouldn't hesitate to pay them for it
Could dreads work in this fashion? Obviously not like this, but if they were modified to be a bit cutsier? Like pastel colors and such?
I think so, I have seen quite a bunch on the FB of Iku, the crossdressing hairstylist of Candye Syrup. Senanan (the owner of QissQill and Shojo Kenjiyoku, Kuua is only the designer for the later) seems to wear them once a while too.
honestly there's no problem, if you live in the USA what are the chances that some pixiv artist is visiting you and sees your t-shirt?
Also an artist put her stuff up recently for this purpose, I'll dump them now.
feel free to use these prints for your t-shirts anon
Most artists don't care as long as it isn't for profit and you credit them when asked, they usually state on their website when using the prints isn't allowed. It is still better than getting any top with a print from Taobao since 1. 99% is used without permission and 2. you may have hard times finding the original artists due to the lack of credit.
There isn't much besides various tigh highs and some girls directly wearing ropes over their tops.
You could easily consider the ratings on movies and games to be 'trigger warnings'. They often list out why the movie got that rating: blood, profanity, etc. There's no difference between "Rating: T for teens because of blood and violence" and "Trigger warning: Blood and violence".
Those sort of warnings have been around much longer than tumblr has.
...or people could develop weird mental health issue they wouldn't have had if they hadn't thought they could have it, because they're influenceable teens.
or the people with actual issues could start becoming ever more sensible to them, because their online environment breaks everything up in little boxes that are irreconcilable with the complexity of reality... plenty of things can happen.
yeah, but tumblr took it to the next level, and the tag "transphobia" has definitely never been on a movie rating. what's the point of tagging this when half the world is probably somewhat transphobic? how could a trans person even fonction if they were unable to deal with casual transphobia?
If you can afford, you can take pics and put them on shirts and stuff on this site
If I was rich I'd make at least like 20 different t-shirts and a bunch of creepy pillows too
Can we get male pictures (if possible) please? I want to get on this style.
The only thing i have related to this is a shirt of two zombie holding eachother, and with a though bubble with a brain inside it
I think the most male pictures would be of guys wearing Listen Flavor or Monomania stuff.
Post pic of the shirt
It might work but you obviously need a lot of accessories and stuff and maybe a wig in some cute color. Maybe even makeup
The problem I think comes up with the male equivalent of this style is how to get the cute part in unless you look really soft and feminine
With girls, the cute factor can simply come from a girl with cute face and makeup wearing something gory, but when you're a guy you don't really have that cute factor
Idk, there's obviously a lot of variations in this style and it doesn't even feel like it has any major guidelines yet. But I feel like guys can have a bit of a disadvantage
They recently released it all as a single volume nice hardcover a year or two ago and then Gyo soon after. I think this has something to do with it. It's probably showing up more frequently in book stores and more eye catching because of the size of the book.
cant find pic of shirt and cant take pic of it neither (no phone)
i have somewhat a soft face and i can just wear this long sleeve i have under the shirt. in terms of acessories, i cant just make them
Feel free to dump some of the designs you come up with!
Also, found this on Aliexpress. I kinda like it, but I'm not sure if it fits guro. Even if it did, how would you style something like this?
Same. I love animals too much. It's not so much a *~trigger~* as it's just really awful to see. That's my limit, though. Like people getting cut up and stuff, whatever, but killing animals and depicting animal death? Nah, that's crossing over to "hurr edgy" territory.
I've never found someone who thought killing animals was cool and thought oh, yeah they're alright. It's literally never the case.
Shojo Kenjiyoku Kakumei will have it's lucky packs avaiable in 18 hours.
I feel like Cupcake cult is one of those horror brands that fits this category. Their items usually feature cute zombie animals and pin-ups.
Also Akumu Ink might fit as well, but they tend to be a bit more gothy.
I feel the same. There have been so many movies where they show an animal die, and 99% of the time I think 'was that REALLY fucking necessary?' Usually it's not.
And yeah, I never trust people who don't like animals. I always feel like they're just secretly shitty people. It might not be true, but something about it makes me treat them with suspicion.
i couldn't really care less if she made shirts with "shota" on them. it's how she embodies That tumblr aesthetic and makes money off of hopping bandwagons when she could be using that time to build upon more marketable skills.
the motifs used in her designs are unbelievably contrived and scream "i played yume nikki maybe once" "i'm not riding the dick of everything that's popular this is actually meaningful to me" "this is what you guys like, right?"
im going to shoot myself in the head if i see another Ironic Weaboo shirt
This is what I thought too kek
Even if it maybe could work for gurokawaii, the fact that I relate it with edgy fat emos makes me want to get it as far away from the fashion as possible
I got some fabric paint for Christmas, and I wanted to make something kinda suiting for the fashion. I've been brainstorming a bit, but I can't really think of much that's not too hard to make (I'm not an artist, I used to draw a bunch but I'm not that good).
Best idea I had so far was making it look like the skin was open around the chest exposing the rib cage, and then having things like maybe candy or stuff inside. It's not great, so I if someone here have any ideas tor simple dressings I would be delighted to hear them!
To be fair, mistreatment of animals is a well accepted symptom of sociopathic or psychotic behaviour. Hence why abusive husbands always kick dogs in movies and serial killers always start as children with killing animals.
I don't want to hinder your creativity but it is really hard to paint onto a t-shirt without it looking terrible unless you're going for a punk look. Maybe practice on an old one to see if you can get your lines clean first. If you Google around you'll find a lot of imagery exactly like you just described easily to set you off, it's pretty classic.
This might be seen as disgusting but it's a menhera thread so.
At the age of 12, i've always wanted to do something with animal skulls. So now I was thinking, Together with a menhera style, would a necklace of a real animal skull look nice?
Planning on cat or lizard, If I ever get a new one.
Then I can carry him/her around everywhere, and won't be sad of it's death!
(Of course, after he/she die of age and the like. I'd never harm a pet. Cleaning the bones properly as well.)
You're genuinely asking if this niche fashion, which will probably not last more than a few years, will accept that you want go and buy an animal purely to wait until it dies (maybe as long as a decade or two) so that you can scrape out it's head and make a huge necklace?
Gutterface does that shit and it's not received well, they are suspected of killing animals to wear, not to mention hygienically cleaning animal bones is more than just scraping and boiling.
If you have an interest in taxidermy and you're planning on being ethical about it then that's great, but don't try and shoe horn it into kawaii desu fashion. There are a few gothic makers of similar things you can find with a quick Google, but it's not relatable here.
No. This sounds really childish and ridiculous. If already when you're getting the pet you're considering its death, and what you will benefit from it, you might actually not be 100% right in the head.
Sure, animal skulls can be really beautiful, but if you want one, go out in the woods and look for one. Or get a fake one.
But don't try to bring it into this fashion, because even though it involves things like mental illness and selfharm, no one likes someone who dabbles in death of pets, whatever the cause is
Also, I can't imagine how someone who's healthy could take their dead beloved pet, chop it's head of, boil and scrape the fuck out of it, seeing little pieces of what you used to love and care for disappear by your hand
Just thinking about all of this makes me sick really...
im not trying to defend that anon in any way because personally i don't approve of that shit. you aren't supposed to wait for an animal's death to be able to appreciate it.
venerating it in its death is part of appreciating it for what it has given to you. not i think this would look pretty good in my edgy fairy kei coord! its something people, who wish to live a completely sterilized life, try to push away because it brings unpleasant feelings and disgust.
the animal typically isnt treated with such disrespect. typically one either buries or macerates (leaves the body in cold water) for several months then repeats in fresh water with biological powder.
people do this all the time, without buying a pet solely for that purpose. why can't you find roadkill outside? if you can't deal with rot, then get out of the corpse pit
Almost thought you were talking about Mahou Shoujo of the End.
>This might be seen as disgusting but it's a menhera thread so.
>At the age of 12, i've always wanted to do something with human skulls. So now I was thinking, Together with a menhera style, would a necklace of a real person's skull look nice?
>Planning on my grandparents, if I ever get in touch with them.
>Then I can carry him/her around everywhere, and won't be sad of their death!
>(Of course, after he/she die of age and the like. I'd never harm a person. Cleaning the bones properly as well.)
Literally the same thing. Just don't. Find bones in the forest like everyone else said.
But isn't that how most non-mainstream brands work? Of course they will hop on fads as it makes sure that they will keep a stable profit, like how last year every lolita brand suddenly hopped onto the nun fad after the huge success of Nameless Poem.
yeah but she never stopped or moved onto something better, just recycled the same edgy motifs like she's so desperately clinging to what made her popular instead of moving past that. it's passé
>which will probably not last more than a few years
Umn, gurokawa has been a thing since the 90s and only the slang term for it is new (not even that new as even the english Creepy Cute has been a fashion thing since 2010). Never heard of Junko Mizuno?
isn't gurokawa a fairly recent term to describe an offshoot/different style of eroguro with cute/sweet things? i've personally never seen the term in use before the gurokawa threads on here, though that isn't to say it hasn't existed on japanese fashion blogs. i thought eroguro was just used, like with jun togawa's style and yukaman's art
I appreciate that you are excited to join the discussion, but if you read the original psycho cat killer post quoted you would see they were referring to menhera specifically
Moreover, you managed to skip over the bizarre taxidermy debate and usage of the anime kitty picture and whatever other weird subtext to "uhm" over none of the point
At least try to mention something less pedestrian than Junko Mizuno
They were actually talking about gurokawa which is why she used "a menhera style", a lot of people think gurokawa and menhera as terms are interchangeable but you don't wear spooky things like skulls there.
Pretty much all blood chokers made by actual brands are made from epoxy, idk where you got hot glue from..
I don't care what you guys are talking about but instead of calling them normies, calling them pedestrians sounds cool as fuck and it makes more sense for the neet vs normies argument. I think we should just call them peds instead of normalfags.
I know this is a gurokawaii thread, but I'm saying that the cat skull anon was clearly just talking about menhera regardless of that. we have menhera threads all the time so it makes sense they were confused
doesn't matter though, each to our own and I'll shut up
That'd fall under menhera. Menhera also includes all that sort of fetish-y motifs, like shibari and whatnot.
Alright, gulls, I asked this last menhara/gurokawaii/etc thread, but didn't really get an answer.
I want to cosplay Kosame from Mahou Shoujo Site, but I'm not 100% sure on her canon colors. Are these them?
I have this, but mine has really short arms? Maybe it's because my shoulders are broad or it was a knock off, idk. Anyone else have this problem? It's still wearable, I just push the arms above the elbow or wear another cardigan to layer.
Sex Pot got some lucky packs and winter sale withgurokawa goods but it seems like it doesn't like direct linking to the lucky packs.
if you like straps like this, check out zana bayne. I have one of their harnesses, they're reasonably affordable (but more affordable to copy if you have basic leather working skills)
does anyone know of places where I can buy prints like this?
Anyone ordered from Anime Trash Swag before? How's the quality?
Nowhere unless you are an japanese local, this one is one of the lace tees Kuua Oyasumi made for Select Shop Tenten and everything with her artwork sells so quick that it doesn't even make it online besides her designs for Shojo Kenjiyoku Kakumei as they aren't handmade by herself, they had lucky packs recently >>8790452
Ugh, I did a look (or makeup or something, Im not sure what you call it) inspired by the first thread that was posted a while back, but I'm so afraid that everyone will just think it's bad and cringy so I still don't dare to post a picture
Those are the only two official color artworks of her that exist so far but it is impossible to tell what the stripes of her seifuku collar are due to the pink filter, could be everything from blue to dark brown but her sweater is obviously pink, the skirt sunny yellow with orange pattern and the bows are both the same blue.
Where is this from, anon?
