How do you decide how much poof pettis have to be under longer dresses? An underskirt can't be enough?
>>9298007
an underskirt is just to add length/offer up another texture and should not be used in place of a petticoat
look at stock photos/worn photos, assess how much poof you'll need that way

Let's have a new thread, m8s!
EpicCon is over and I want some reports.
Next week there's the Japan Xmas Market starring Minori

Austria here but we never get our own threads so I hope you dont mind
Best con has to be Nipponnation. Had some nice Workshops of cosplayers that I really like and it generally was comfy
The worst was definitly fuyucon. Unorganised as fuck (who the fuck changes the location A DAY BEFORE THE CON).
Cosplayplans would be a blademaster Lagiacrus from mh, Giant Dad from Dark Souls and a Magitek Soldier from FFXV
Since I'm planning on going to a con in germany next year I'd like to ask which one is worth it?
>>9285300
Dokomi, I haven't been there myself yet, but they already get compared to the french japan expo. I guess it's definitely worth it.
Maybe I'll go next year

>EpicCon is over and I want some reports.
Saturday was kind of empty, Sunday was surprisingly full. There were few people, yes, yet it was better than Dortmund last year.
>what was the best con you've visited this year?
Just like every year; RPC
>which has been the worst?
Uhm, gee, probably Comic Con Dortmund? The local weeb animexx shit? Not sure
>cosplay/fashion plans for next year?
Ghost Recon Wildlands, The Division and Rainbow Six Siege Loadouts. I'm a Ubisoft whore.
>con plans for next year?
Animagic, Hanami, FBM, Comic Con Stuttgart and Frankfurt, RPC, Gamescom, Connichi and Cosday. Might add others though.
>>9273835
I dunno if it's the angle for what but by Asian standards she looks kinda porky...
>>9273837
Her figure is perfect for the character though, in my opinion. And even by ridiculous Asian standards I still hardly see it.
>>9273851
the way the sleeves are drawn in the drawing make it look her arms and boobs look really weird
Here's the next Sailor Moon fanart that everyone's going to rush to cosplay. I can't even really figure out what the inspiration is. Final Fantasy? Watered down Dynasty Warriors?
Post baffling and terrible /cgl/ related sales and creations.

I haven't seen a thread like this so, I thought I'd be interesting.
How do you gulls choose between color options?
Do you stick with a color palette or just choose which color looks cuter with the pattern? Do you go with whatever color you have the most accessories to match? Im curious.
Pic related, I'm trying to decide between Whip Factory in pink or sax
I buy whatever color I think is the cutest for that print. If I can get it for very cheap I will buy a color I think is less cute as well.
Personally I aim to try out as many colors as possible because I think it's fun, I'd never limit myself to only a few specific colors for ~coherence~.
Also definitely sax for whip factory!

>cuter
No pink is better
I love lavender the most, so I usually get that
I'm trying to brainstorm poses with swords for some upcoming shoots, but when I look at reference images, a lot of them aren't flattering for the average cosplayer -- especially the ones that involve holding a sword above the head.
Please help me out by posting images you like of cosplayers with swords.
Pose like you're commiting sudoku.
We talking a webbo blade here, or what?
Besides blade, what kind of character are you going for. Generally speaking just holding any of the basic stances from Liechtenauer will suffice I'd say. They're not heroic, but instead legit.
Can this just be an overall posing thread instead? Or posing with props in general.
I'll contribute to your cause. From COSMode
dump what you've got, gulls.
I love chocolate/cookie themed coords, I get sad when I see the same matchy coords posted over and over. OP is good though. Love that 3rd one.
We're one week away from ALA!
Have you finished your cosplay? Are your ribbons ready to be handed out?

Are you planning to go to the CWF?
What do you think determines how much you spend on merch at a con?
I just got back from a con that I usually kill it at, with 1/4th the money I made on average the three previous years I went. I polled other dealers, who were equally as broke and confused, so I went out and asked attendees why no one was in the dealer's room/AA. Turns out the programming was amazing this year, and no one had the time or energy to shop. A bunch of people told me they often had 2-3 things they wanted to do at the same time.
When I attend cons, I always to carve out at least and hour to shop. Will you forgo even peaking at the dealer's room if the panels/meetups/events are good?
This should probably be in the AA thread, but I know my con spending has drastically dropped in the last couple of years. As far as official merch goes, people tend to bring the same things year after year. Even artists in the AA do this. So at one con I may have spend $300 dollars on merch, but the next year I'll barely spend $50 then the year after that I might spend $20. Plus I tend to browse, then if I find something I really want, I'll price check on ebay/amazon and if the price is comparable, I'll buy it there.
>>9325244
I've never been to a con where I was entertained by panels during the entire time I was there.
>>9325264
I think since this is about dealers hall, it's reasonable to have in it's own thread. We DID just get done talking about how Dealers Hall & AA are different in the AA thread.
>>9325244
I'll start by saying I consider myself a Big Spender, I generally budget between $400-$600 for merch at large conventions (over 5K attendees) and $200-300 at smaller cons. I collect figures and I make itabags, so I buy both a few large ticket items and a lot of small things.
Panels, meetups, and events come first - but one of the first things I do when I'm going through and highlighting my con schedule is look for that big block of time where nothing is happening. That's my designated Dealers Hall browsing time, and it's usually mid-morning on Saturday or most of Sunday.
If a convention has less programming, I am likely to spend more since I've got more time to browse and find things, but I am ALSO more likely to just not go back to that con again. Double edged sword for you, mate.
If a con has a guest for a series I really love, I find myself buying more stuff for that series. Not to get signed or anything, I hate signing lines, but just because I'm already in the frame of mind where I'm hyped up about the series.
And I feel like this should go without saying, but it also really depends on what kind of stuff the dealers actually stocked. If I'm seeing the same old stuff I normally see, eh. I don't really care, and I migrate towards the Artist Alley with my money. I'm more interested in new merchandise, limited release merchandise, blind boxes (because I hate myself), art books, stuff that's more than just the main character's face plastered on a key chain, merch for series that aren't as mainstream. The kind of stuff that I would have to import through a shopping service, and can't just buy on ebay.

A lifesize spiderman display for a comicbook store, from Captain America: Civil war & Spiderman: Homecoming.
And I'm almost done soldering. All there's left to do is to terminate a USB plug and add a switch to toggle between full brightness and half brightness (read 100 Ohm resistor). I love it when things start to take shape.
I just found out an egg carton is the best thing to use as a cheap hot glue gun stand. It catches your dripping glue and you can just toss your gun in there.

Crafter here (plushies, amigurumi, needlefelt), trying to get inspired to make stuff, especially a range of different priced items. Because I work in retail, I didn't create as much as I would've liked during the holidays, so now I'm trying to get back to AA stuff.
I think every year I have the same problem of not having a particular theme of goodies and barely touching fan stuff. Now that I have a PC, I hope I can produce a few photo prints with craft stuff than drawing.
I was wondering if any other anon's did Anime Impulse this past weekend? From what I saw, sales were slow, and talking with other artists some of them did pretty good and others did really badly.
It was my first AA. I think I did okay for a first time in an AA and not having a huge variety of stock, though I didn't get my booth costs back.
>>9322649
Go on Etsy and look at all the novice-made, low quality, things on there that still get favorites, sales, and raving reviews. Best inspiration in the world.
So how do your parents feel about your cosplaying/lolita ways?
>>9319056
They don't. Not their money, not their problem.
They think it's cool, but too expensive. My mom sometimes buys me fugly €1 blouses from the thrift store that she insists look just like brand. Fortunately she has the memory of a goldfish so she doesn't notice when that blouse is then never seen again.
