I found a torrent for all the doujin games a while back.

Most of them work fine for me, although I haven't been able to get some games like Azumanga Fighter running properly, since it only runs on XP or older OSs.
Donjara Daioh, Azumanga Advance and Puzzle Bobble can be found on emuparadise, though I haven't been able to get Puzzle Bobble working on any emulator.

If you think of Tomo and Yomi as one supercharacter, and Kaorin as essentially a running gag for Sakaki's character, I think you'll get what the writers were going for.

I imagine a big factor is if the manga is still ongoing, or in the case of novels, if the author is writing one at that specific time. Even if the studio wants their input, they might be too busy, particularly for details.
