They're not even that big in the silicon industry.
The cpus running in your cars, on industrial machines, on simple electronics from toys to dvd players, are all from companies that aren't Intel. Guys like Freescale or Texas Instruments run on way more devices than Intel could ever hope to imagine.
Intel is just for consumer grade PCs/Laptop, which, in all honesty, is a dying market. Instagram browsing, Facebook posting, and even 90% of day to day work tasks don't require a 9 core ultra efficient 6 Ghz processor. Subsequently you're seeing phones & tablets ( which use processors from ARM or Qualcomm ) become people's primary device.
