we are the hero generation, our deeds will be sung in the epics of the generations after us. we the ones who fought against religious radicals, defeated them and brought the age of peace upon the world. alaju akbar

We are the loser generation, our deeds will be sung in the epics of the generations after us. We are the ones bend over to religious radicals and swallow their jizz, their victory brought upon the age of ignorance and oppression.

Unless you have terminal cancer you have a decent chance of seeing some of this stuff. Remember that tech growth is approximately exponential and even wars, recessions etc can't put the brakes on it for too long.

Also, how could we have a global Islamic caliphate when they don't even browse /biz/.

i always thought that wars stimulate the tech advancement, mainly for strategical purposes, which later goes into the consumer shelves
>>
>>1068863
More like:
>Wars cause a lot of resources to be accessible to the state
>The state invests this huge amount of resources into technology - more than the private sector could ever invest; generating higher tech and science progress than the private sector
>>
>>1068863
They stimulate particular tech advancement at the expense of others. Say we might get a new type of military radar but my microwave still sucks, or I my phone reception sucks. Sometimes civilian and military demand roughly line up and we get something earlier than what might otherwise have been, but in general military demand can only pull resources from civilian stuff, economically speaking.

Whether or not that's a social good or bad is subjective I guess.

Wars and post-war are the best times for technology
Nearly everything we have today is just a slightly refined version of shit made for WWII.

Would you rather been born in say, the middle ages or ancient times OP?

When people were still being prosecuted and executed for speaking their mind or for anything that displeased their local lord.

When diseases like the a bad cold or pneumonia could still kill a healthy young man due to no antibiotics.

When there were no supermarkets around every corner where you could get everything you needed.

When the local priest or shaman had the most power and most saying over what would happen in daily life.

Pretty good times to be living in OP, hope you at least realize that. Maybe you watch too many movies.
