Hi /biz/
I'm a retarded blue collar worker that makes ~95k canadian a year. No debt or car payment, 22 years old.
How can I start turning this into more money? I'm single and I don't even spend half of the money that comes in.
My employer had a stock buying option as well as a direct benefit pension program as well, if it helps.
Save up an 2-3 month emergency fund. stick it in a high interest but always accessible savings account and never use it unless you need to. This helps if the boiler brakes but its real power is to stop panic when the shit hits the fan.
look up whatever the canadian 401k is. Money that doesn't get taxed is better always than other money.
get a credit history. even if its just a card you use on dates. credit histories are things you never have until after you bought them at very high interest rates.
after that look into index funds, bonds and property.

Buy the dip.
You can shelter some of that income from tax by contributing to the pension but 22? Who knows if there will be anything left when you can take it out, and at what obscene tax rate?
Stuff a TFSA full. Buy oil stocks and commodities because with 7 billion breeding monkeys resources are going to be stripped clean pretty soon, like 20 to 30 years tops is all earth has left at this rate. Don't get too heavy into the hookers and blow.
Get a financial advisor who won't rip you off, they will spot you as a mark right away.

Locomotive engineer. You can make six figures Canadian as a conductor as well.
I love my job. The only real downside is the lack or a schedule.
