Say you come across Crafting Motif 4: Nord, and you can sell it in the guild store for 4K because there is no global auction house on the north american megaserver. When more people come into the industry because they switched from a subscription model to a pay once and then youre fine aside from microtransaction model, a lot more racial crafting motifs will enter the economy assuming they join your guild.

Thats when you short the motif.
