Hi /biz/
I'm 18 from the U.K and there are apprenticeship applications open right now which will take place starting September.

My college education was in subjects I do not with to pursue to university (because of idiotic choices) so this is probably my only option apart from a shitty job.

There is a finance apprenticeship open and there is only a limited amount of info on the website about it.

The thing is I've never really done anything finance related up to this point and know fuck all about economics so I come here to ask for any tips from you guys for a beginner, maybe some books with introductions to finance, plain advice, if any of you have done finance apprenticeships, how was it?
Also I'm worried about even been good enough to be accepted as the type of person they are looking for needs to have "Good communication skills" and be able to "Work with all kinds of people".. but hey might as well go for it anyway.

Phone them and ask for a more detailed description of the apprenticeship and ask for the specific job title or department that you would work in. Research that job and find out exactly what they do. Then goal of your research should be being able to have a simple conversation with someone that shows you have at least basic understanding of the industry and that you are very enthusiastic about learning more.
They don't expect you to know anything really, just show that you're worth the time and money to train.
Just fake your enthusiasm in regards to 'working with all kinds of people', it's a good skill to have and it's easier to learn it an 18 in an apprenticeship than struggling at 25 in retail.
