Do day traders produce anything of value in society?
I have a great life and plenty of time to shitpost on /biz/ while watching positions on my other screens. That's great value if you ask me.

Does day trading even give you profits? It's like monkey operating a ship. It knows the feedback when it moves the rudder left or right, but does it realize the rocks ahead of it?
Yes. They correct stock prices.
Consider a trade:
If they profit from a trade, it is a legitimate correction of the price.
If they lose out on a trade, they were wrong (and got punished for being wrong).
Theoretically...
If they're market makers then they're contributing to liquidity, so yeah that's a positive.
If they're trading on behalf of a client (like a multinational needing foreign currency) then they're producing value through specialisation.
