Have you ever asked yourself, why do you want to get rich? Has this goal become your first priority in life?

Rethink it once again: your time on this planet is VERY limited. You are probably somewhere in your twenties right now, well, maybe you will gain wealth by the time you are 30 or 40. But is it worth all the efforts? Do you really want to spend your youth persuing that goal?

If you live in the first world, you can do pretty much anything you want. Become a musician, an athlete, a writer, an alpinist. You can do something with your life rather than trying to earn money. It's a proven fact that it does not affect happines after you are middle class. No matter how rich would you be, if you're not poor, it's all the same.

Yep, you'll have your freedom. But do you know what you'd do with it?

Don't think about it too much because you will become depressed.
after you understand that money isn't worth the effort, you understand that NOTHING!!! worth the effort, you will just sit in your room all day playing vidya

Uh what?

You speak of freedom as if musicians and artists get discounts on needed goods. They dont

Rich = free

I grew up in a 1.3 million dollar home and now I'm living out of my car. I will do WHATEVER it takes to surpass that and as young as possible so I can get back to being a human.
>>
>>1053377
Pretty much this. Being rich gives you the freedom to pursue any other goals you can think of. Why spend your short little monkey life as a poorfag.
>>
>>1053350
I want to be rich(er) because there's nothing I love more than making money. I've sold an app and 2 separate websites and every time I get a big fat check in the mail in exchange for something that didn't exist a year ago it's like a drug. I feel high for days, the feeling of freedom and power that comes from signing a document agreeing to be paid a million dollars all at once is insane. I grew up poor and right now if I wanted I could take a trip to Jamaica and not even think about the money because I don't have a day job, I don't have to be anywhere I don't want to be.

Are you fucking stupid? Being a multi-billionaire and having exorbitant fuck you money would be great.

I mean I guess I would get bored after awhile of buying lambos for all my friends to have demolition derbys in my 1000 acre estate. It would really suck waking up to a professional chefs meal every morning next to french pressed black coffee flown in next day from Columbia. I would really hate being able to buy a key of blow a week and throw a 1000+ person rager at my party house in miami whenever I felt like it. I would absolutely hate hate having all the free time I wanted to pursue every goal I had in life while enough leisure time to bang dime escorts and get a swedish massage every week. I would really hate to start a bonfire in that one neighbor's yard I hate made out of 100$ bills just to spite him. It would be just awful to have virtual immunity to the justice system since whatever judge I get sucks the defense attorneys dick for a cut of his retainer. I would hate being able to take care of everyone I love's bills and treating them like they deserve.

Despite all that if you honestly think money can't buy happiness you are an imbecile. Happiness is serotonin and dopamine. Do you know what drugs release? I'll give you 16 guesses. I can LITERALLY buy physical happiness with 1 phone call.

Teenage dumbshit detected. The people that are truly rich don't do any of the seriously dumb shit you just fapped on about. You could win a 100 mil and be poor in two years. Trash.
>>
I just want my own fucking land and a house, is that too much to ask?
>>
Freedom and safety for me.

Freedom to go where I want and do what I want when I want. Safety in not having to worry about money (that doesn't mean not having to budget).

Also laziness, I just want a large amount of money to invest and then not worry about working a soulless job to survive. I wanna work a job I want to work in.

>all the materialism and instant gratification here

i'd fund neo nazism and race war in my country if i was a multi-millionaire. pay in bitcoin for every proven assasination of a rapefugee and provide very fun secret all-inclusive man cave hideouts with prostitutes, booze, video games etc for everyone who participated in keeping my country white. they would eventually get to leave it when our guys would get to control the justice system

i would also get a firearms and bullets workshop going and end up being remember not only as rich guy but the person who saved his people. hitler tried and kinda failed but is still a great inspiration

Not that I play the stocks anymore, but, when I was in my teens I would do shit with penny stocks and nothing would feel better than making $1000 in a week and losing it next week only to recover the week after that. It's a drug.

>Have you ever asked yourself, why do you want to get rich?
I sure have, many times.
>Has this goal become your first priority in life?
No. It's tertiary after happiness and getting to do what I love.

>But is it worth all the efforts?
Absolutely.

>Do you really want to spend your youth persuing that goal?
Ah, yes, youth. That magical thing that means jack shit.. the license to act like an immature, self-absorbed cunt. I don't like most people my age.

>Become a musician, an athlete, a writer, an alpinist
I want to be an expert systems engineer. It so happens that great careers go along with that.

>It's a proven fact that it does not affect happines after you are middle class.
True.
>No matter how rich would you be, if you're not poor, it's all the same
Happiness-wise, sure. Not so much in general. Allow me to expand on that.

Wealth provides an immunity against avoidable tragedies and smaller grievances like recession and things like problems with city/etc officials. It's the power to change things you don't like and to help/fuck up people who deserve it. Wealth gives you a choice.

>But do you know what you'd do with it?
Do you? Does anybody? Also
>implying the answer to your question doesn't change over time for each person

The sooner you get money out of the way, the sooner you can start focusing on the things that have real meaning in life.

Money doesn't make you happy, but you can't be happy without money

I want to get rich so I can make sure that once I make it to my fifties or sixties, I won't have to work as hard as I did in my mid twenties-forties. I want a home big enough fof my mother to live with me and not have to pay bills. I want to take her on vacations. I want to travel to nice places. I want to experience a better life than I'm living now. I want to help my dad out as well. And if I have children in the future, create a nest egg for them to follow in my footsteps career wise.

I don't have much knowledge of finance, in fact, aside from my intention to pursue a higher degree in finance (sophomore right now), I can't claim to have any sort of knowledge besides the basal understanding of mechanisms that you would gain from an associates.

But I've been really poor. It's terrible. It's awful. Imagine how terrible it is to not have a home, food, warm shower, and then imagine these things exacerbated by the anxiety and stress that is inherent to the issue.

So, to answer your question, money is undoubtedly a partition insofar as happiness is an amalgam of factors.

Some people require more, some less. What's more important is your relationships with your family and friends, how much time you spend doing things you enjoy, success at work, et cetera.

Knowing this, it's not unreasonable that the people here are more career driven people who derive satisfaction from earning money. Things like mathematics, probability, and risk make them tick.

I know that's how it is for me. You may interpret the chase for capital as a vacuous, unfulfilling pursuit for borderline sociopathic, greedy louts, but for me it's part of the happiness puzzle. Numbers, data, and finance are an enjoyable topic; it's fulfilling; it's a part of the puzzle that's never been filled in by my past -- the ability to live a comfortable lifestyle -- in luxury, even, without stressing all the time.

There is nothing to do though. You might as well play the game and play it well. It's as good a way to spend your time as any.

your whole argument is shit.

getting rich is essential to survival of you and your loved ones, since everything is getting more expensive being rich today will be middle class in 20 years

yes

Those are fashionable interesting hobbies I am sure, but I don't really give a shit about them and I would still have to work a regular 9 to 5 on top of it to support myself.

I hate to use this meme but I want my vocation to be my avocation, I want to roll my work and my hobby into one. I enjoy embracing reality, objectively this makes me superior to all the hipsters who follow their dreams and study sociology/psychology/literature/drama/whatever in college because you can achieve more in the real world and because I can "get into" things instead of just letting my passions blow me into autistic fantasies. Instead of letting life's trials and tribulations get me down I view them as a challenge, a contest, playing on hard mode. I am not more stressed because of this, I chose to do it and I can choose to stop, then a while later when I am not so moody I can look back, wonder why I made such a big deal out of it, make a fresh cup of coffee, help myself to a slice of cherry pie and start again.

I want to buy a race change operation and become black and get a big black cock attached.

I wish I was motivated by money, my life would be so much simpler...

As a matter of fact, I don't care to make more than basic survival + some extras, hence I don't have professional ambitions. I'm not a neet, but my easy low-paying job is comfy as fuck.
