Well maybe not a general but a nice thread for a few days.
How do I begin investing? Not learning about it, but physically buying and selling stocks and commodities? The Robin Hood app can't be used outside the US, so what options do I have?
For myself, I am not interested in day trading so all the things about "quickest execution" and all that. What website is best for sticking a few thousand in to, for example, short oil for a few days, then trade out?
I would also be interested in sticking some money in a tracker fund, to get the most out of my savings. What is the best option for this? I am still a student, is there anything I need to do about taxes?
Thanks for the replies.

>buy shares at a 15% discount through ESPP

>sell shares.
Do I have a profit or loss for tax purposes?

If you took a profit, you profited. The IRS gives zero shits what discount you got on the stock. Your profit is their gain.
