what is ethereum?
i'm looking on the site, but i don't necassarily understand, and why would it be worth investing into?
>>
>>1047747
altcoin with a lot of potential, but its the hardest shit in the world to buy
>>
>>1047738
Your butthurt is palpable.

>>1047747
Its a cryptographically secured turing complete smart contract platform. Because its turing complete, it's hard to describe what it is, because it can be applied to anything. Only limited by the programmers imagination.
>>
what's your address OP?
>>
>>1047754

can't you trade it for bitcoins easily on the exxchanges?
>>
strong buy, it only can go up from here since it will replace bitcoin
>>
>>1047754
go to poloniex or kraken, its as easy as any others
>>
How do I even invest in ethereum?
>>
>>1047774
You can buy from cryptocurrency exchanges like poloniex (shown in OP pic) or kraken.
>>
>>1047784
And I would buy ether by doing that? Is there a way to invest in the company proper?
>>
>>1047789
There is a foundation which pays lead developers. There is no corporation to buy shares of as such. The software is open source. Ether acts as the speculative vehicle. It is needed to run computations on the distributed virtual machine.

This year will be exciting as a slew of distributed applications are released on the platform.

What on earth gives you the impression the devs are russian?

They are in fact canadians, americans, brits and germans

>>

>>
>>1047919
For starters can you name any of the devs of PND?

Where is the PND white paper?
Yellow paper?

What groundbreaking cryptography was applied in the creation of PND?

There's your answer. PND was a memecoin with a 2014 sell by date.
>>
>>1047754
It's not hard at all. You just sign up for Poloniex. If you don't have any bitcoins yet, sign up for Coinbase. It shouldn't take longer than a work week to get into alt-coins.
>>

NVM, understand now.

Programmable buttcoin technology.
>>
How do I buy a bunch?

I don't have bitcoin but I have paypal.
>>
>>1048290
Buy bitcoins using bank transfer, then buy ETH with buttcoin. You cant use paypal to buy crypto because its trivial to reverse the transaction and rip off the bitcoin seller.

Its paypal policy to fuck crypto anyway they can
>>
>>1047657

I have been here since /biz/ first began. It was created, mostly, to contain heaps of steaming excrements (otherwise known as digital currencies) so that the other boards could remain free of these massive logs of cryptofeces. There has been non-stop shilling of at least a couple dozen shitcoins, all shilled with such cult-like enthusiasm that I don't even know how the shills fingers didn't buckle under the amount of garbage they were heaping on to their keyboard. Even snake oil salesmen would have been mortified to claim the amount of utter nonsense that was peddled on this board. When one shitcoin is exhausted, cryptodicks just move on to the next like little parasites jumping hosts when they have sucked the life out the last one.

Ethereum is definitely different from the last few dozen though. It has smart contracts and stuff. I don't even know why you would red-pill us to this monumental, life-altering altcoin. In the words of the late Vito Corleone, "Why come to me? Why do I deserve this generosity?". Wait... don't answer that. Please spare us just this once. Since you have found the One Coin that leads to the promise land of mainstream adoption and untold wealth and happiness, I emplore you to be greedy. Keep this glorious golden nugget to yourself. /Biz/ is not deserving of knowledge of this once in a lifetime investment opportunity that you in no way benefit from shilling.

Plus, you have given us too much already:

>bitcoin
>litecoin
>ripple
>dogecoin
>darkcoin
>nxt
>pandacoin
>bizcoin
>mintcoin
>stellar
>monero
>gulden

Although you are very gracious, you do too much. You labor too hard. Give yourself a rest and just HODL Ethereum long term until you can become a millionaire and retire. Don't worry about us nocoiners, it will be tremendously hard to cope, but we will recover.

I am convinced you're just pumping the coin. Give us reason or news that shows the coin has any potential long term. Why should I care about Ethereum? Why will people hold their ETH and not just dump on new buyers? Is there some site that shows the new eth wallets made over time? eth transactions? Why does this shitcoin have any value?

Some sort of joke. The whole point of crypto is that it's censorship proof and distributed.

No one will buy this because the supply will be controlled by the central bank, so no different from a fiat currency.

One thing ETH is lacking is simplification. When BTC was released, they created a simple to understand video plastered on their front page. ETH needs to move towards a more simplistic outlook to dominate BTC, instead of being an "elite developer club" (so to speak).

I remember BTC coming out and I missed the train at $5, I'm holding ETH as I do see potential.

I'm not claiming to be a /biz/ kid, cool off. I've just been smart about saving and investing money and I've managed to accrue a sizable savings. $20000 of which I have just sitting there being useless. I was only sayinh that dropping $2000 on a new cryptocurrency wouldn't really bother me too much especially after missing out on Bitcoin.
>>
>>1051776
I don't even have a dollar to throw away, but that doesn't mean I'm not well off. Throwing away money is the byproduct of deep seeded financial ignorance. It is also the main reason that the majority of people who win the lottery go bankrupt. If you think throwing away money "just because I have it" is what real wealthy people do then you need more of an education that this board can give you.
>>

If you put money in an investment you are not throwing it away. Throwing money at cryptocurrencies, however, is not investing. It is speculation.

A programming language is Turing Complete if it can simulate a Turing Machine. (Java, C++, Python, hell most programming languages are turning complete.)
