I'm a software dev at a large company and I want to try sales. Do I just ask for a job at startups or what?
Just why the fuck would you go from being a software dev to sales? Sales is for people with not so many marketable skills other than being good conversationalists/story tellers. If you are a dev, stay where you are and bust your ass on your own skill set.

dev doesn't pay well in germany
Just keep doing what you're doing until you can work your way into some kind of business development role. That way you can leverage your technical knowledge and also get sales exposure.

Ex-IBM salesman here.
Can attest to
>being good conversationalists/story teller
this.
I got out because I felt my brain was rotting due to lack of use. The pay was insane, however, mostly when landing >1 million U$S deals: commissions can rack up some *very* mean dough.
In fact I got enough out of a deal I bought myself an apartment, and have been able to maintain my living as a NEET without any problem whatsoever.
Still looking for another job because I would never again bear the salesman lifestyle: it was good for getting some quick cash and that's it.
sales is deadend man.
but here we go, first do the check list.
Are you good looking?.
Are you willing to lie to customers?

You're a faggot if you think this. Real sales is challenging but has higher financial upside.

ITT a bunch of broke NEETs who have zero clue what sales really is
