I personally try to time the market. I graduated in 2008 so I didn't save up money and invest in the stock market until the DOW was down to ~7,000 level. I moved it all to cash around a year ago when the DOW hit 15,000 since I thought stocks were overpriced and there would be a correction. I missed out on some gains, but I'll reinvest once we have another recession.

The companies I've invested in seem to have some exposure in providing services to the oil industry, so they too have gone down... But once the oil price stabilizes I'm pretty sure I'll see my portfolio rise again

well it worked quite well until this piss sour bear market struck. the halving was relative to the amount i had gotten with the help of the borrowed money so i'm not doing all that bad in the grand scheme of things, just sucks to have lost this much money in this little amount of time.
