i have many questions about this. for my background, i live in florida and have only access to UPS to ship.
>1 what is the maximum amount of days that i can specify for 'handling time' on ebay?
ideally, i want to only leave the house once a week to ship all the items that people buy. would i be able to do this or will it violate the 'ship the day you receive payment' standards thing?
>2 how do i prepare packages for shipping?
is there a way that i can have everything packaged and ready to ship so i simply drop it off at the UPS store? someone who has experience shipping through UPS and could tell me some tips would be greatly appreciated too.
>3 i've already researched some of the tax forms and things i'll have to do eventually to make it a legit business in florida, so here is my list:
-obtain [tax id number] through irs.gov using [SS-4 Form]
-register locally for [state sales tax], [use tax], and [business tax]es (i have no what these are, or how to do them)
-file a [tradename certificate] of my business name to county of clerk's office
-file a [schedule c form] with my [form 1040] every year (not sure how these are done, i've only done my taxes online when i was military)
-pay estimated tax quarterly (i have no idea what this means)
-no autioneer license required for florida for what i'll be doing
is there anything else i need or you guys could elaborate on for me?
i currently live with parents and pay NO rent and have like $8k that i've decided to use for this endeavor. i cannot drive, so the reason why i can only use UPS is because it is the closest and i'll be forced to use bicycle to send very small packages. i'm 23 and exmilitary living off savings, but NEET and scared of driving and one day being forced to work or something, please don't bully me, i just want to succeed in something small and get sell better things eventually and be happy
I really need to start dropping a phone# so i don't have type as much.
1) you can take up to 30 days to ship (if you set it to that... no body will buy your shit, but that's whatever)
2) honestly, too many variables... how big are your packages?
3) all irrelevant. First sell shit; then, worry about rules.
What an ugly fucking gook
I dont understand why it would be difficult for you to send shit out within the same day seller made payment or 24 hours max
Before asking these questions try it out first and slowly and see where that takes you
THEN worry about the trials and tribulations of starting a business
What were you in, regardless thanks for the service
>1) you can take up to 30 days to ship (if you set it to that
thanks, i was wondering if i just had to set it and i would be covered
>2) honestly, too many variables... how big are your packages?
i'm not sure what the smallest or best way to send would be, but i would be selling tiny individual pairs of earplugs, so they could fit in anything really
>First sell shit; then, worry about rules.
thanks for that, i feel motivated
>I dont understand why it would be difficult for you to send shit out within the same day seller made payment or 24 hours max
it's because i don't drive a car (but i do have my license, it is just terrifying to sit behind the wheel) or leave the house, so i would have to walk/purchase a bicycle and spend at least 3 hours every day simply transporting things to the post office. that is why i want to possibly do it in 1 trip once a week
>try it out first and slowly and see where that takes you THEN worry
thanks, i'll be sure to report back soon with advice for any others and what i learned
>What were you in, regardless thanks for the service
np, i was in the air force as an integrated avionics specialist for the b-1
not sure if you knew, but USPS (post office) offers free pick up of packages of any size or weight. just go on their website and there's a link for "schedule a pick up".
if you live in a residential neighborhood (not worried about things getting stolen) you can leave things out over night.
if you don't want to leave packages out there's also an option to have the mail man ring the door bell to get the packages directly from you.
just need to have things fully packed with shipping labels that you can print off from ebay. USPS is a lot cheaper than UPS which should attract customers and this allows you to ship everyday.
i was going to help you because i thought you were a marine with pstd and thats why you couldn't drive.
but jesus h fucking xrist you were in tthe chairforce!
GET A FUCKING CAR OR BORROW YOUR MOMMYS!!!!!
dude youre 23years old man prime age , grow up , cant you get a degree and go back to the AF and fly? or join the marines do something with your life. if youre sure youre done with the military then first thing you need is a fucking transport. Drive to the fucking usps ups is more expensive . worry about taxes after you sell 20 k or 200 transactions thats when paypal starts reporting. do that then come back here and ask for advice .
>2 how do i prepare packages for shipping?
you can buy packing materials cheap. from ebay even. you should be able to find boxes for ~30-50c/apiece, depending on size
i don't know how UPS works, but australia post sells pre-paid postage satchels that match their weight/size classes (e.g. 500g-3kg, 3-5kg, 5-15kg, etc (anything smaller and you can just use a padded envelope with stamps)), with discounts for buying in bulk. i think they are actually cheaper to buy than postage for the same weight/size class. i'm sure UPS would do something similar.
