It sounds unrealistic, but do any good paying work at home jobs exist? I'm a shut-in but I have to get some kind of job for money, and I would like something where I don't have to leave the house, at the least not very often.

you could sell yourself to old men on backpage. Having them come to your home is kind of risky though.

Yes software devs of all flavors can work from home and do very well. The bad news is that you need to have years of experience and a proven track record in your area. So you're still gonna have to hit that real world treadmill for 5-10 years. No one is gonna gamble on an entry level guy working from home. Face to face mentoring from experienced devs is invaluable

You could try your hand at being an indie developer,
Maybe porn commissions or patreon, if you good enough (pro tip, don't need to be that good at art just good enough to make phat titties and asses)
Suck dick.

How do you suck dick at home? Advertise on the web for old men to come to your house? Or are you just practicing to suck your own dick?

you need atleast 1 particular skill, and then to get quite good at that. from that point forward you just build a business based around selling that skill, and sort of 'expand' into everything that comes naturally from being an online brand.
your main skill website
your youtube videos
your tutorials on how you got so good
your weekly column with clickbait opinions
your interviews with colleagues/competitors
your podcast related to your industry
your side-project (for which you outsource all of the work and essentially only use it as additional self promotion platform)
your e-book on 'secret techniques'
you get the right idea. skill can be anything, ideally something you are passionate about (obviously) because there is no faking this part.
Write a vaguely worded book about making it big, telling everyone how you've become a success (truth is optional), and sell it on kindle.
