I'm the fag who moved to Seattle replying. Southerners are very friendly and polite but that doesn't mean they're nice. I always noticed a lot of disingenuous and two faced behavior there. People in Washington, and certainly people in the northeast, are definitely less outwardly friendly, but when they do act nice they're more likely to actually mean it I think.
