>>664062167 >taking pride in something that doesn't even have anything to do with you
I'm from North Carolina and I don't give a fuck at all, I was just saying having a few confederate monuments doesn't make you Southern. Maryland is the north and has lost of monuments to the Confederacy.
>>664062280 I spent some time living in NYC it sucked ass and the people were jackasses talking to people from Cali and other parts of the left coast everyone there is hippy as fuck - that's great if you're a hippy but I'd probably hate it
>>664062491 I wouldn't want to live in NYC either. The people in the northeast are either total jackasses like you say or based as fuck. There don't seem to be a lot in the middle. But they're just too fast paced for me. As much as I disliked living in the south, I did inherit that more laid back attitude, which the northwest shares. California people are just fucking weird. The bay area seems fine but everyone here hates the transplants from LA.
>>664063158 kek, i used to live in nyc. i get why people say that. most people in nyc are there to work as a large majority of the work force commutes from all over the metro area. living in nyc is defintely not for everyone. everyone has somewhere to go all the time and theyre all in their own little world. there are shit heads everywhere and with such a densely populated area, theres going to be a lot of them.
>>664064243 I mostly interacted with friends that I saw regularly when I lived there and even they were rude by Southern standards. People just act differently. Strangers in the South are more friendly than my friends were in NYC.
>>664064647 I'm the fag who moved to Seattle replying. Southerners are very friendly and polite but that doesn't mean they're nice. I always noticed a lot of disingenuous and two faced behavior there. People in Washington, and certainly people in the northeast, are definitely less outwardly friendly, but when they do act nice they're more likely to actually mean it I think.
>>664064647 i live in jersey now, right across the river from nyc. its so much better over here than living over there. people are not so consumed with themselves and the pace and vibe is definitely more laid back. ive been down south many times, and its true that people are for the most part, more friendly. nyc isnt all bad. it has its moments, but i would never live there again
>>664065427 I live in NYC. I like the place but the cost of living is so bad that the majority of people who were living in Manhattan had to move to Queens because of hoe expensive it is now. Even the huge Toys R Us in Times Square shut down cause they couldn't afford to keep it open.
>>664065368 Yeah I agree the two faced shit is pretty transparent if you have decent social skills. If it wasn't I wouldn't have noticed, after all. I guess I can see why you would say what you said about preferring that, I just feel differently, myself. I actually find dealing with someone who is keeping it real to be easier, and just refreshing, even if it means they might be a douchebag. As you said, personal preference.
>>664063158 Live in nyc now, transplant from cracker northcentral FL. Yeah this is true, it's totally hit or miss with the people here. Depends on what you do. Fuck Manhattan, parts of Brooklyn aren't bad though.
>>664066482 I think of it in terms of civility as opposed to authenticity, which is why I guess it doesn't bother me. I suppose I feel about it the way I feel about other social conventions, instead of seeing it as a more character-related issue.
>>664062666 our city is going downhill. too many fuckwads are moving here. I feel like the population has doubled in 10 years and the traffic has gotten 3x worse.
and don't even think about going to broadway/2nd ave at night, the ENTIRE FUCKING STREET is packed with wasted jackass tourists.
and did I mention traffic? Green Hills is a disaster. I-65 south is a clusterfuck. I-24 is completely retarded. I used to leave work at 530 but now I stick around till 7 because I'll just spend that time sitting in my car.
>>664069715 why would you assume I'm offended? >limited understanding of religion I've read the bible, the quran, the bhagavad gita, the tao te ching, the dhammapada, the dalai lama, the christian contemplatives, and the sufist poets, as well as books on biblical criticism like "the historical jesus: life of a mediterranean jewish peasant" and "yahweh and the gods and goddesses of canaan."
but tell me more about your superior understanding of religion.
>>664069994 >>664069243 Also curious about this. I'm on the Greenwood neighborhood and I love it. It's cool but unpretentious. And less expensive than the hipster areas. Still not at all a hick area. I work in Mountlake Terrace though and there seem to be rednecks in the Lynnwood general area.
>>664070677 because it is culturally dissimilar from the rest of the south, outside of east texas. it has far more influence from mexican, western, and in some regions mid-western culture than the rest of the region.
