I also went in with low expectations and was pleased with what I got. Biggest complaints would be the ridiculous amount of retreading and Rey's excessive Mary Sueness.

It wasn't bad in the way the prequels was bad, and it was good in some of the ways that the originals were. It had likable characters (including Rey) and I'm interested to see where they'll be taking things next. Hopefully not a fourth death star.

Episode 7 is basically Episode 4 and everyone knows this. If this new trilogy is gonna be anything like the original trilogy, I wouldn't be surprised that Rey turns to the dark side like Anakin Skywalker did. Kylo Ren later redeems himself from the murder of his father like Darth Vader did in the last movie.

I do like Rey as a character. But I do recognize the problem with her being flawless at it might get tacky and boring quick.
I doubt Luke and Leia will be in the third movie and even if they are, their roles will most likely be minuscule. So I look forward how they are gonna get to that point.

When she saw Leia she was very emotional and embraced her, even though she hardly knew her it was as if it was instinctual. When she first heard of Luke she became incredibly fascinated that he was real. Anakin, even as Vader, loved his children, and this love is what brought him back to the light side. He was actually obsessed with the idea that he had a son and both Empire and Jedi were about the fact that Vader didn't want to kill his son. So to hear that Luke exists brought back that memory that Luke is super important.

So when she went to go meet Luke at the end, his memories and obsession came back to her.

If you notice, she only becomes good at things which Anakin was very good at. Piloting, fixing things, lightsaber fighting, his affection towards Leia and near obsession with Luke.

I said it before, I'll say it again. Kylo Rem was LITERALLY DYING before fighting either Finn or Rey. He was shot in the side, using the Force to compact pressure on an artery as to not bleed out everywhere and die. Then he continues to take on the best Stormtrooper from the academy. Then continues to take on a Force Sensitive who has quite literally been using the Force just to survive on a desert planet all alone with only a Staff as a weapon. I'm sure a sword wouldn't be hard for her to use skillfully.

We see that she's spent the vast majority of her life on Jakku. I can buy that she's a good mechanic, because she's a scavenger. Fari enough. She outright states she has almost no idea how to fly the Millennium Falcon, and then she's out-maneuvering First Order pilots two minutes later. That was some bullshit.
There are no Wookiees shown in any of the scenes set in the scavenger a camp, and I doubt the giant hair-beasts would be attracted to the hot desert planet. Wookiee is an uncommon language, especially for humans, in general, we never see any Wookiee except for Chewbacca outside of Kashyyk. She also speaks fucking BB-8, which is a series of beeps. We see none of them in that camp. Oscar Isaac (I don't even remember his character's name) mentions that it's a unique model. It makes sense for him to be able to speak it, since it's HIS unique BB-8, but the fact that she can understand it makes no fucking sense. It's established that most of her income comes from salvage (as opposed to functioning droids), and it can be inferred from the way she treats BB-8 that she doesn't encounter them very often. Jawas were established to have been traders of "live" droids, but Luke and Owen didn't understand R2.
I can also buy the fact that Kylo Ren was kinda fucked up from the blaster bolt to the chest and the lightsaber duel from before, but she learns how to do the Jedi mind-trick within a few minutes of learning she had the ability to use The Force, without any training. It took Luke two movies to be anything like competent with a lightsaber, or the Force, Rey manages it in less than one.

The character has little established backstory, so rather than going on total conjecture ("The STAR DESTROYER had a massive library! There were TONS of Wookiees coming through the random trading post in the anus of a backwater hillbilly world, enough so that she could learn their language!) we should go on what's actually in the movie.

You're right that she's pretty boyish, but this is exactly what feminists hunger for. Old-fashioned feminine characteristics are things like being delicate and beautiful (in a shallow sense), and Rey avoids that completely.
