Why are you even trying to critique my style? I wasn't critiquing the style of dumblr, rather that every artist on there uses the same style.
Stay upset homeslice(s)

Stop being such a turd.
Here is my depiction of the famous video game, Sonic
from wikipedia on gesture drawing
"A gesture drawing is work of art defined by rapid execution."
literally you can google gesture drawing and find that line quality is quite literally the last thing someone should think about while gesturing
>dont give a shit about line quality since it doesnt show in final product
except it does. one of the most important aspects of gesture drawing is quality and economy of line. you don't seem to have any real understanding of either and it shows. you're too pre-occupied with attempting to scratch away the contour of the figure that you aren't really showing much dynamism in the pose you're drawing. one of the easiest ways to create great poses is through your use of line (curve, really) to nail down how the figure flows during the gesture drawing stage. it's something that should be minimal and meaningful. you aren't getting that with what you're doing and believe me it will affect the final product. gesture drawing is the foundation and basis for any representation of the figure whether the final product be a comic or painting
Damn these are good, you've inspired me to do some robot drawing myself!
anyways it's 3:35 here so I'm off to bed, I'll see you around hopefully.
I bring building down with kaboom
Sorry guys. Office buildings gone
Screw over our employees.
WELP NO FUN ZONE.
>literally you can google gesture drawing and find that line quality is quite literally the last thing someone should think about while gesturing
that isn't what is meant by rapid execution. what is meant in that regard is that gesture drawing involves drawing the bare minimum of what is necessary to capture the energy of a pose. that does not at all mean that it should be haphazard
>let me see your 15 points.
Don't be retarded, those don't win fights.
ill make one when i get home. i dont fuck with drawchan so no stats ref atm
true but it helps to get a feel for what the characters limitations are.
That's not what I meant. I wanted a reference sheet of powers/abilities what not. A general description of the character.
I didn't mean stats. Stats don't matter.
the point of gesture is to capture the movement and form of an object -- sure the lines should flow and have smooth curves, but it doesnt matter how many tries it takes to achieve a smooth flow and since one shouldnt erase too much in a gesture drawing, the end result looks messy with many lines trying to get the right curve --
>can clearly see the blocking of shapes
nah, monks a cool character i find him interesting cause of his unorthodox tools.
no resume, but I have this marshmallow peep.
True, but you can get a feel as much as you like, don't mean you're gonna expect the shit they can pull out of the character.
thats...what I meant. like a stat sheet with powers n junk. either way. s'gonna have to wait til i get home
okay and? i dont get..why you're trying to argue with me
taking requests. Spooky preferred.
I was just sayin' no stats was fine. Sorry I was unclear.

yeah i mess them up alot.
D-do you want me to make a more updated ref?
I added some things to his character.
sure if you want. tbh im still developing pins fighting form. so you might help me out a bit with your ref.
>the point of gesture is to capture the movement and form of an object -- sure the lines should flow and have smooth curves, but it doesnt matter how many tries it takes to achieve a smooth flow and since one shouldnt erase too much in a gesture drawing, the end result looks messy with many lines trying to get the right curve
you really aren't understanding at all. you are not going to get better at gesture drawing until you stop scribbling so much. no, you aren't expected to be good at laying down good lines at first. you have to practice it to get better. more importantly, you shouldn't be erasing during a gesture drawing ever. you need to spend a little bit more time thinking about the lines you're going to make and why you think you should make them. you shouldn't be trying over and over again to draw a line during a gesture drawing. use few lines and use them well. it isn't just about the end result, it's also about the process itself.
also that example is an abysmal gesture drawing. i can't blame you for holding the views you do because there is entirely too much bad information out there about gesture drawing out and about, especially on the internet. definitely the best resource for gesture drawing i've ever seen has to be in the book Figure Drawing by michael hampton. it's an incredible book and the section on gesture drawing is totally invaluable. i really urge you to read it

please at least consider checking out the book. i genuinely believe you'll learn a lot from it. i'd cool off the attitude, though. you aren't remotely skilled enough to be arrogant
>not understanding that the lineart goes over the blocking and gesturing
>working from loose to slowly refined
Either way line is still a passing phase, something I assume you wouldnt know much about as an artist that primarily uses line -- since you know, lines are made by shapes in the real world.
Look at the ~great line quality~ in this image
No but seriously does anyone know about some cooooodeesss?
i see confident lines with purpose
