Why did they come here in the first place?

Archer show wasn't bad , but it was nowhere near as good as the Ronald D Moore star trek shows

I'll be the first to ask. Who is the best captain?
>>
>>597079220
They found their way in through /co/ if memory serves. Back then /co/ was welcoming to new users so they learned the ropes of 4chan while still being allowed to act like autistic faggots.

Fun fact: Ponyfags are also the reason generals exist -- they invented the concept.

Voyager at least tried to be NextGen pt. 2

DS9 had everyone fucking each other all the time. It was a soap opera.

Voyager was so tight-assed that ensign fucking Kim turned down Seven.

Yeah, he had to have been gay. While I liked more Q, the whole storyline involving him was a bit peculiar.
>>
>>597080682
Sisko was horrid with his autistic line delivery and his preacher BS.

Funny how that extremely overwrought anti-racism episode didn't have a single fucking gay character in it — just like the entire series. (And no, we don't count lesploitation shit from Mirror Universe.)

Fuck Sisko.
>>
>>597080682
Dude. The Doctor is the only Doctor.
I don't even consider the others. Although I did like Bashir.
But The Doctor is like in the top 5 of my favorite characters overall.

There are eternal /got/ and /who/ general threads on /tv/. Ive often wondered why there wasn't a star trek one.
>>
>>597080904
ensign Kim wasn't gay. He was a vegetable who preferred playing the clarinet over playing Seven of Nine.
>>
>>597081126
You could also tell that Picardo was a step above all the cast members in terms of acting skill. Sadly many actors don't leave SciFi. I could see him doing really well in a lot of different maintstream genres
>>
>>597081103
Ditto
He was only in that position due to white-guilt affirmative action in Star Fleet.
>>
>>597081315
Kim was the perfect example of how Voyager failed. What a waste of a character. 1 Dimensional would be crediting him with 1 too many.
>>
>>597080736
Nana, Terry and Molly could get it
>>
>>597081497
Yeah Voyager totally could have been darkend a bit. Which would have opened the door to much better character development. Star trek seems to like only developing the captain and a select few of the main cast. In voyager it was the doctor and seven of 9, but chakotay was decent
>>
>>597081714
That's Molly? As in O'Brien's daughter? I would have thought she'd be in her 20s by now. Is she part midget?
>>
>>597081900
Nice dubs. Asian women are just short
>>
>>597081785
Chakotay? Man he didn't do anything. Spent most of the series completely invisible besides a couple of "Im an Indian, I have a spirit animal" moments...oh and then ended up fucking Seven despite having no build up at all.

You're right about Voyager though. The setting was ripe for some great storytelling; they just weren't up to it
>>

Voyager is a lot better than Enterprise. There was exactly one episode of Enterprise that didn't totally suck and it wasn't very good either. The only reason it didn't totally suck is because the guest actress was great.

Voyager at least had some decent episodes, or at least some memorable moments once in a while.

Enterprise was slow at first but it sure as hell picked up the Xindi Arc and all Season 4. Season 5 would've been the Earth-Romulan War. Voyager started off strong but Braga and Berman were terrible at given the series focus.

No self-respecting homo would think Enterprise with its tired faux-action is anything other than the tepid brainless drivel it is, coupled with Archer's insanity.

4) Archer pontificating and contradicting the position on morality he blasted at you in the previous episode

5) The worst theme song in history.

ST: Spock burns Bones, laughs are had. Bones isn't a blank, laughs are had. Kirk is kirk, laughs are had. SOMETHING FUCKING SERIOUS GOES DOWN.

TNG: Data. Period. Picard is just eye candy. Q changed your life.

DS9: I... don't know. Quark? He is the most interesting. Odo can sometimes be cool.

VOY: Promise of plot. For once a lead female character that's tolerable.

ENT: Actual plot, eventually. Best doctor and some of the neatest plot devices.

An Ode to Spot...

Felis catus is your taxonomic nomenclature,
An endothermic quadruped, carnivorous by nature;
Your visual, olfactory, and auditory senses
Contribute to your hunting skills and natural defenses.

I find myself intrigued by your subvocal oscillations,
A singular development of cat communications
That obviates your basic hedonistic predilection
For a rhythmic stroking of your fur to demonstrate affection.

A tail is quite essential for your acrobatic talents;
You would not be so agile if you lacked its counterbalance.
And when not being utilized to aid in locomotion,
It often serves to illustrate the state of your emotion.

O Spot, the complex levels of behavior you display
Connote a fairly well-developed cognitive array.
And though you are not sentient and do not comprehend,
I nonetheless consider you a true and valued friend.

blech

There has long been a very strong dearth of fuckable boys in Trek. Lots of hot girls, especially in TOS.

This isn't a fair comparison and never has been. Kirk in TOS was supposed to be around 35. Picard was in command of a Galaxy class starship and was about 10 years older when the show started. There are obvious strength and libido differences.
>>
>>597088677
My favorites were Picard and Data. But I didn't really think any of them were bad. I loved the stories and the ending of the series and how it all but said that humans were going to be basically be Gods. I never really could get into the other ones except DS9.
>>
>>597088978
They wrote her badly. They always write women badly. She was a shrill bitch who apparently couldn't handle the idea of a fucking robot on her spaceship. There was a great seed of an idea there, a real call back to Bones and his original function...but they fucked it up by making her a bitch to him.
>>
OS really did run out of gas in S3. A lot of those shows were absolutely awful.

Between Whoopie Goldberg and all the Q eps I find Next Gen pretty much unwatchable.

DS9 I've tried to marathon watch, just can't get past first 2 seasons even though I know I like later seasons of the show. Sisko was and always will be the worst fucking piece of shit capt. in any star trek.

Voyager is my favorite, though it's very flawed. A lot of really terrible eps but overall, I still like it.

I liked Enterprise but it became too much. You can't save mankind/earth/the universe in every fucking ep. It's too much. And that fucking finale...GARBAGE.

Kinda agree with this guy. Accepting gays is not the same as putting them in every shit possible. I mean, gays are still a fucking minority and it would unreasonable to expect every company has gay people innit. Just like token black guys. Seriously, if you hang around mostly with white people, why would you include black people in your stories? That would be especially retarded in my country, where we have like 10 niggers at most.

Crusher was one note, for sure. Polaski was frustrating though. She was making a really interesting valid point that sci-fi tries to grapple with. They just failed to make it interesting. And then completely abandoned any attempt at in in Voyager when holograms were real people too!

TNG was total shit. There was no cameraderie, no familiarity. Everybody acted like they were part of an extended family that had incest...nobody was comfortable with each other.

Also it was full of marxist multicultural bullshit. TOS always broke the rules to do what was right...TNG was the opposite, they stuck to the rules so closely they never did anything right and human.

TNG was a great big communist fuckfest. The only good character was the Q-entity, who showed the entire cast what a bunch of stuck up asses they all were.
>>
>>597093875
Data wasn't just trying to understand emotions he was trying to understand biological life as a whole. While Spock may pretend to be emotionless he wasn't. Data literally took himself apart, basically gave himself brain surgery and eventually nodded his being with an emotion chip all to be more human. Hell Data even had a child to try to understand it all.
>>597093973
There is a large diffence between mimicing emotions and actually having them.
>>597094162
I wouldn't really call Picard one dimensional he verried through while he struggled with the responsiblies and limitations of his command.

>>597094716
Yup. They made her a bitch 'cause they didn't put the affection in there - Bones and Spock worked because underlying their sniping was some genuine respect/feelings.

Which is a shame. The robot thing could have lead to some interesting questions about data's humanity. After the court case there was an opportunity to really interrogate it...and they didn't bother.

>>597094842
Spock wanted to be a Vulcan but that process required not being a human. He struggled as a man stuck between two worlds, his vulcan and human sides. Data wanted to be human and that process required not being a robot. He struggled as a man stuck between two worlds, his robot and wannabe human sides.

DS9 was only good because of the Cardassians. You will admit that Gul Dukat and Legate Damar and of course Garak held that show together, they were far more interesting than the boring federation.
Quark was also pretty good, the Ferengi brought some humor to the stupid show.

I'll speakout on the OP's comment though now. I think there should be a sci-fi subsection, but much as I liked some of the trek shows and movies, I still think there's been other shows that at least match it in impact from the genre.

Firefly, Red Dwarf (may not be the same true category), Farscape, Stargate series', etc..

>>
Ever watch the animated Trek series? Its pretty good, they do things they couldn't do in the live action because of budget limitations.
I also had some trek comic books when I was a kid, it was interesting. I remember one that was about machines that took over a planet after the living beings died off, so they had to destroy the city builders but had problems because the metal was synthetic, so spock devised a special chemical and they sprayed the robots and destroyed them.
cool memories from my youth
