To anyone in charge of OpCharlieHebdo: it’s not about freedom of speech.
not that i condone the reaction at all but disrespecting and mocking others doesnt really count as freedom of speech, also, from the name alone you can tell they were fedora faggots
they should imo
but on a side note the charlie hebdo guys still did wrong
thats basically mocking all believers
French fag as well, but people mostly go crazy because these people were pretty much the only ones to actually use freedom of speech in mainstream media. People just don’t realize they could do the same because they’re scared of the backlash.
>you cant say/draw what you want in this world without consequences
True. Does it have anything to do with freedom of speech? No. You’re still free to say what you want, even when you’re too scared to do so.
there should be no op anything. If any of you fags care about this shit, you'll offer consolation to the families and remember this shit next time someone wants to pass a law saying "so and so can't say such and such"
I don't see anything wrong about making jokes about religious figures in some magazine. If it offends Muslims, they should simply not read it. If it offends socialists, they should not read it.
Otherwise, I want to have some words about the Koran, first.
Are you fucking retarded free speech is about there being no consequences it's about you being free to say what you want.. If you do something inflamatory like piss off the biggest religion in the world of course some fuckers will lose the plot and kill people..
free speech cannot be used as an excuse to be a fucking moron
>: it’s not about freedom of speech.
Technically it's not about freedom of speech, because that term means that your speech is protected from the government. But these muslims barbarians are acting as if they are above the government, serving as judge, jury, and executioner for things they consider to be crimes.
what you know about that nigga?
They were kinda old so you know not used to that whole internet "fedora atheist ebin meme xDDD cringe" thing.
They were actually emblematic of the whole 70s french counter culture, so of course it was shocking on purpose but replace it in the 70s context and it was much more logical, but right now France is turning into a fucking communitarianism society little by little (so more like the US little by little) and it's now totally forbidden to make politically incorrect jokes.
We're regressing in France.
I hope this tragic event will change us back to a true Republic.
for the same reason it doesnt cover slander, harassment, apology for terrorism or any crime, threatening... in my opinion
which is that other people being free shouldnt mean I have to deal with them attacking me (as they say, your freedom ends where my rights begin)
i dont give two shits either and im chistian, but i see how they would feel attacked
>they should have thicker skin.
having thicker skin makes you invulnerable to being offended, but it doesnt change the fact that mocking is wrong, so you didnt even make a point, but im full of shit, k
What happens if Muslims decide that TV and Internet is against the will of Allah because it takes away time from people that they could be spending in the mosque? Then is it about free speech? Or shall we ignore it until it is too late?
>MFW you are a fucking idiot who cant connect the dots.
I'm not justifying what they did however if you attack something with a massive following the likelihood is that there'll be nutters in there following... if there's enough nutters then you can guess a few will want to take it into their own hands the editors knew and understood this risk when they ran a picture of mohammed
>i dont give two shits either and im chistian, but i see how they would feel attacked
It's not that I don't get it, it just that I think it's unimportant. Everyone feels offended over shit. I'm sick of people constantly assigning special rights to themselves because they feel offended.
The presence of muslims in my country offends me, yet I haven't gone full Breivik or anything. And despite Breivik, no-one is like "maybe we should listen to what these people want" like they do after Muslims commit some attack.
It's about taking the mudslimes out of the dark ages. Other religions killed over their beliefs years ago, yet these cunts still do it. They killed over a fucking drawing, let them continue to do so without repercussions and it won't be long before they start killing over us eating bacon. The only answer is to torture these cunts until they see sense
Neither. It’s not about freedom of speech because I don’t have to give a fuck about their decisions, but I can still acknowledge that I might have trouble with extremists. Freedom of speech isn’t the only thing I have to keep safe, right?
True. But people have been calling for a reduction in the number of nutters for years. Namely by curbing immigration. They were part of that effort. And if you don't say you want the nutters gone, there will only be more of them and their shitty ways of life will be accepted.
you are right in a way /b/ro
listening to what they want is basically rewarding terrorism
as i said i dont condone the reaction at all, im against what charlie hebdo did but if i had my way they would be able to do it freely with no consequences for as long as they want, i just wouldnt read it
my point just was that calling deliberate insults freedom of expression is kinda dumb and im sick of hearing that in the media
Sorry about that. I’m saying it’s not about freedom of speech because I’m not outlawed for telling what I want. But on the other hand, I remain able to be careful if Muslims (or whatever group) decides they should start to kill people who say what they want.
We follow those who have the power to control us. If someone can simply kill me and get away with it when I draw something then I feel controlled by those who forbid my freedom of drawing what I want to and not by the state that technically allows me to draw whatever the fuck I want to. Ergo, it IS about freedom of speech.
you can have mockery that isn't satirical
and you can have satire that isn't terrifically abrasive or offensive.
you can parodize without mocking
the two are by no means mutually inclusive
Fact is they won’t get away with it: it’s still murder, they’re not even supposed to own guns, they’re three against the rest of the French (at least)… Whereas a state could remove freedom of speech and only the people would be able to react.
>other people being free shouldnt mean I have to deal with them attacking me (as they say, your freedom ends where my rights begin)
Hurr durr, I can't deal with people attacking mu points of view so it should be illegal! Die in a fucking fire, Autist.
...and you didn't get killed. did you? My point is i can make fun of whoever the fuck i want to make fun of. in the western civilized world i can even defame someone without getting killed or physically injured. Fucking ignorant fanatics pieces of shit, just out of the paleozoic need to fucking disappear from the world.
>mocking is wrong
If you act like a cunt, you absolutey deserve to be mocked.
If you say stupid things, you absolutey deserve to be mocked.
Basically, if you're being ridiculous, you deserve to be ridiculed.
Your feelings are irrelevant.
Someone being ridiculous or stupid are just opinions
Why should I deal with being disrespected based on someone elses opinion of me ?
That being said all i said is that idislike what charlie hebdo did but i dont support the reaction at all
Actually i think the same way, i think its wrong to mock people obviously but by no means should they react like this, i would just ignore that journal or whatever it was
Unfortunately, though, in the western world there is still no freedom of expression when it comes to actually controversial stuff
Nobody stopped them from saying it. They said it. They just died for it.
You can freely call your wife a fat whore every day, but if she leaves you she didn't take away your free speech
Not really... Free speech is free speech. It's the ability to say something without your government taking that right away.
Free speech doesn't mean there's no consequences for your actions from another human being. People forget they can be touched...
look guys this will be my last post and i will respond to the three of you at once
im not even a muslim and i condemn what they did
but i dont support charlie hebdo either because they deliberately insulted and disrespected, if i had my way they would still be free to do it, but i dont support it thats all
actually i dont even care about my point i was just going for a debate
I'm not saying killing someone is right either. But you also have to respect other people and know the person you're offending.
You're free to make fun of mike tysons lisp, but when he prison fucks you and breaks your jaw, dont run to the constitution to save you. Laws only protect you from people who operate within the law
