The stories and information posted here are artistic works of fiction and falsehood.
Only a fool would take anything posted here as fact.

TL;DR: What do you think is the most ghetto/crime-ridden/scary/violent city in America? Or in the world?

I've tried this thread a few times and have gotten some good stories, so here it is again.

Usually, I do a larger list with 25 spots on it, but with around 40 different cities total (which I will copy/paste in the next post), but I figured I'd just do a Top 10 in the OP and try to pick out the worst-of-the-worst.

So, here's my Top 10 list of the most-dangerous cities in America:

1.) Detroit, Mi
2.) East St. Louis, Il
3.) Gary, In
4.) Camden, NJ
5.) New Orleans, La
6.) Memphis, Tn
7.) Baltimore, Md
8.) Oakland, Ca
9.) Youngstown, Oh
10.) Chester, Pa

There surely are other places deserving of being mentioned, so feel free to mention any places you think should also be included. Obviously, LA and NYC have lots of crime, but the places I listed seem to have particularly violent cultures and a higher per capita-crime rate.

So, what do some of you on here on here say is the most-ghetto/dangerous city in the U.S.? Is it where you live now or are originally from? I am from, and live in, Arizona, on the outskirts of Phoenix, and there's certainly crime here; but I've tried to keep my ass out of trouble for many years now, so I don't have many good stories to share.

However, I'd like to hear about the places y'all think are the worst of the worst. So, anyone looking to post this morning?

And here's the list that I typically post in the OP:

1.) Detroit, Pontiac, Saginaw, & Flint, Mi
2.) Gary, Indianapolis, & East Chicago, In
3.) Camden, Paterson, Newark, Jersey City, Trenton, & East Orange, NJ
4.) Chicago, Rockford, & East St. Louis, Il
5.) Memphis & Nashville, Tn
6.) Oakland, Stockton, Fresno, & Richmond, Ca
7.) Kansas City, & St. Louis, Mo
8.) Baton Rouge, & New Orleans, La
9.) Cleveland, Cincinnati, Dayton, Akron, Columbus, & Youngstown, Oh
10.) Baltimore, Md
11.) Mobile, Birmingham, & Prichard, Al
12.) Philadelphia, & Chester, Pa
13.) Birmingham, & Mobile Al
14.) Jackson, Ms
15.) Little Rock, Pine Bluff, & West Memphis, Ar
16.) Atlanta, Ga
17.) Houston, & Dallas, Tx
18.) Wilmington, De
19.) Milwaukee, Wi
20.) Bridgeport, Hartford, & New Haven, Ct
21.) Columbia, SC
22.) Albuquerque, NM
23.) Tulsa, & Oklahoma City, Ok
24.) Buffalo, & Newburgh, NY
25.) Phoenix, & Tucson, Az

Gary, Indiana, seems to get mentioned often in these threads, so I'll post a screencap of a story someone posted in a previous thread about driving through Gary, Indiana, on their way to the airport in Chicago and having cars pull out in front of him and block the road and try to ambush him while pointing a shotgun at him.

And in regards to being in danger of being a victim of a crajacking, it seems as though Camden, Gary, and Flint are similar in the sense that people have claimed that you are literally at risk of being robbed/carjacked/assaulted at all times; particularly, if you are from out of town/white.

Apparently, East St. Louis is really fucked-up. Here are some posts about ESL that were posted in the thread yesterday.

I live 5 miles from East Saint Louis. Parts of it look like a bombed out warzone. I used to work for a sewer contractor, and we would go down there to pump some old peoples tanks, I asked him one time why nobody messes with us and he said the nigs all believe the septic truck is owned by the mob. A few nice old people down there, but overall a very scary place. The city has almost no cops, due to having no money, mostly from corruption.

--------

East saint Louis is pretty bad. I've never seen any thing quite like it in Chicago, or Detroit, Rockford has a rep for being a tough town, but I have a friend from there who says its no bad, just a lot of drunks. A lot of E.STL is empty feeling...parts have been destroyed for a long time. It was a nice city back in the 50s and 60s, my mom tells me that they used yo go shopping at the department stores downtown when she was little. The city just died, but its been dead for 30 years longer than Detroit. It reminds me of fallout 3 in places. Just rubble in places, a few houses with people in them with little hope.

--------

E.STL...It looks like beruit during a war. Old buildings that look bombed. Sparse population. Abandoned downtown. No, no malls, no movies, some areas barely have power or water.. Its close to the Mississippi..I know a few people who fish in it, swimming in it is death. ESTL is a warzone where the people are too hopeless to fight the war anymore.
> Pic related: A view of of East St. Louis, Illinois, from St. Louis, Missouri..

And here are the comments used to describe the image:

>A thin line separates civilization and barbarism... just beyond the horizon rests 98% black East St. Louis.

It also mentioned how there was a wild brawl at the DES Office in East St. Louis while people were waiting in line to get their food stamps refilled/approved.

It seems like no one wants to post, but before I give up on the thread, here are some stories posted about Albuquerque, New Mexico (not mine):

>return fire wildly with 9mm, empty two magazines
>they tear ass out of the parking lot
>nobody in the bar even gives a fuck

Its not ghetto or crime story, but if want a odd animal story look up the Ohio exotic animal massacre from two or three years ago.

Another post by the guy from Albuquerque:

Okay yeah i have more stories

Actors are all generally pretty cool. I was up at val kilmers house in santa fe for a party and hes weird but cool. Bryan cranston would bring us breakfast burritos in the AM. Harrison ford and daniel craig were cool, met them doing cowboys and aliens.

Tommy lee jones is a drama queen pos.and the cap america guy is an asshole.

I lived in Milwaukee for a bit and it was alright, a little worse than abq.

Phoenix is a suburb piece of cake. Its nice there.

--------

More post by the guy from ABQ:

Yeah I think Abq is quite a biy worse off. They don't talk about it as much but south of I40 isnt okay to be after dark.

Never met Tapia, but I boxed at that same gym for awhile. J. Voight was a cool dude, he sat next to me at tuscanos downtown. Sam jackson was a serious asshole. We ran into him in old town and he told us to get the fuck out of his way. My wife and I were sitting in the grass. Grade A douche. My wife's friend called him a trash ass nigger. I laughed.

---------------------------------------------------

People get kidnapped out of town and there's a pretty serious problem with human traffickers. Also if you dont lock your shit up tight your truck will be stolen. Will be.

At about 3am the other night some asshole started banging on my door yelling about needing change for the bus. Ofc my wife is like "go do something about it"

I opened the door and this asshole tried to stab me with a little insulin needle. I had the baby monitor in my hand and i hit him in the face with it six or seven times before it broke apart. I didnt even make the conscious thought to do it, just happened. Took APD almost 45 minutes to show up.

Are you from/do you live in Ohio? If so, whereabouts? And have you been to any of the rougher/ghetto cities in Ohio? Cleveland? Cincinnati? Youngstown? Akron? Dayton? Columbus?

And that's cool to hear that you can get a license to have an animal like a mountain lion; but I doubt the guy who had these African lions in his basement in Detroit had a license or did it legally. And as for that animal massacre, I can't say that I recall hearing anything about that, so I may just check it out.

Have you been to any of these cities you mention? If so, are you an American? And if so, how were you treated? Was it scary being there? And are you in the military?

And do you think that Israel, Baghdad, or Syria are as bad as or more-violent/scary than places like the ghettos in Brazil? Colombia? Mexico? Philippines?

And does anything think that the worst parts of the worst cities in America can compare to places like Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, the Philippines, South Africa?

The only truly scary place I've been to in Camden, but nothing bad happened because I was lucky and got back out quickly.

> Dating a girl who was a grad student at Penn
> Drove down from NY to visit her
> Using written directions because this was way before personal GPS or MapQuest
> Her directions were great but I'm an idiot
> End up making a wrong turn, headed over the bridge to Camden
> Middle of the night, look for someplace to ask directions
> See a police station, pull in
> It was the lot where they park cruisers
> Two cops come over, really unhappy I'm there (as in about to draw on me unhappy)
> I told them I was lost and had to get to West Philly
> They laughed heartily because I was obviously about to piss my pants from fear and told me how to get back
> Made it out without incident

West Philly is scary, but it's fucking Cambridge compared to Camden.

After college I worked for a place that had a plant in Camden. It was the only plant that had armed security and a razor wire fence. Fortunately I never had to go there.

I have started many of these posts and have heard comments about both cities being worse than the other. Admittedly, I have not been to any city in Michigan, so I have no personal experience to speak on. Have you spent significant time in both Detroit and Flint? If so, how is it possible that Flint (or any city, for that matter) is noticeably worse than the ghettos in Detroit?

Do you have any stories about Detroit and/or Flint that you'd like to share?

Since you mentioned it, here's a re-write I did of a story someone posted in a previous thread about getting beaten up in Camden, NJ.

Basically, the story went something like this:

> Mexican kid/guy, about 18, 6'2'' and 200 lbs, fairly muscular, goes to stay with grandmother in Camden
> been there for a few days, decides to walk to the store for grandmother, by himself
> apparently, a very bad idea
> walks inside store, big, older white guy clerk immediately says that he should not be there, that it's not safe for him
> Mexican kid/guy walks out of the store after making purchase and is encountered by 3 large, black males walking down the sidewalk
> one of the black guys says that one of them dropped their bag of dope and that they saw him pick it up and take it
> Mexican kid/guy says he is legitimately frightened, as the 3 black males are huge and don't appear to be fucking around
> Mexican kid/guy nervously says that he did not take their drugs and that he did not want any trouble
> the 3 black males decide that he deserves to get violently beaten up, so they immediately start to do so
> Mexican kid/guy says that the 3 black males all start punching him violently and he falls to the ground and is getting pummeled
> while on the ground, one of the black males starts grabbing his fingers and literally starts breaking them, he ends up with 3 fingers broken
> while this beating is happening, a cop car pulls up and blares his siren, the 3 black males start walking away, Mexican kid/guy feels like crying, because he is so happy
> cop pulls away without even getting out of his car
> apparently, in Camden, someone getting jumped by 3 guys was not important enough for the cop to get out of his car and check on the victim

> after that experience, the Mexican kid/guy stated that he did not go out in Camden again before moving back home

The guy who originally posted the story that I posted here >>591127296 told it in a better fashion than I just did; but I'm sure you get the gist of what happened.

As for Camden being a really shitty place, in the same thread that the guy shared the story about getting jumped, another person also posted, a white kid (around 16-17, iIrc), and told a story about having gotten lost after driving his parents car home from a concert and ending up in Camden. I don't recall the specifics, but I think he was at a stop sign/stoplight and just got ambushed by someone on the street who smashed through his side window and dragged him out of the car. Ultimately, he said that he ended up getting curbed-stomped and almost died, literally. He said that the only thing that saved his life was some foreign shop-owner running outside with a shotgun and screaming at the people trying to beat him to death. And this happened because he was a white kid driving a nice car through their neighborhood.

I hadn't realized it, but based on lots of posts in previous threads, New Jersey apparently has several absolutely terrible cities in it. Besides Camden, people have claimed that Newark, Paterson, East Orange, Trenton, Newark, and Jersey City are all ghetto cities with rampant crime and truly dangerous areas. Overall, though, it seems as though almost everyone agrees that Camden is the worst city in NJ; and, likely, the most-dangerous/fucked-up city on the East Coast. People have compared Camden to a little Detroit. And many people have stated the same thing about Flint, Gary, and East St. Louis.

I'm from Michigan, thankfully I'm from Grand Rapids. (I honestly don't know how this is the second biggest city in Michigan and not shit like Detroit or Flint.. But I'm glad it isn't.)

Well for one, you just have to look at the crime rates statistics; Flint has Detroit beat on crime.

I have been personally am going by stories I hear from people from here and statistics. I have a friend that's lived practically every actual "city" in Michigan.

He lived in the ghetto of Detroit for roughly a year and never got jumped or robbed once. He lived in a close suburb of Flint for 2 months and then moved because he got jumped two or three times, robbed at gun point, and his house broken into twice. (Well one of the times they tried to break in but he was home and chased them off.)

Youngstown/Warren - been through there once or twice. Very run down, ghetto ghost town. Doubt I would feel safe even in daylight.
Columbus - a couple years ago I went down for a concert. My friend fancies himself a rapper and was opening for some other nobody at the Alrosa, where Dimebag was killed at, so I went. Was only at a hotel for 30 minutes or so before ghetto ass black teens from the apartments next door threw a cinder block through his rear windshield.
Cleveland - only time I would regularly go downtown was for concerts. Doesn't feel safe to walk more than two or three blocks after sundown. Have had people follow me, but never got jumped. Had one homeless guy hug me because I gave him a few bucks. Claimed he was the Green Lantern and he had my back from now on.
Cincinnati- gone down there a couple times for a horror con. Nearby gas stations have signs in the window reading "if you enter wearing a hoodie, we will press the alarm and lock the doors behind you."

I lived in Philadelphia for a year on 18th and Diamond street right off of Temple University's campus. Ghetto as fuck. Bunch of white kids that went to the school and they're all surround by black people that prey on them. I live in the KC Metro, but have lived in the shitty areas down there. We lived in a place with poor plumbing, a non-working shower, and no way to wash clothing. Being the only white family in the entire area, it was a little rough.

The man upstairs from us would watch my roommates kid while we went to work. Turns out, this dude was trying to buy drugs in the parking lot and pulled a gun out (presumably shooting someone, but I'm not sure). Shit was garbage, man. Everybody tryin' to sell something on the corner or outside the complex, our door wouldn't shut so we took a gamble that we wouldn't get robbed every day, and almost got mugged a few times by the gas station.

So fucking glad I got out of there.

And I am certainly aware of the shootings in Chicago in recent times and the gangs and violence in the city, but after doing several threads like this over the past few months, I've come to learn that most of the city seems to be fairly nice and that most of the violence is concentrated in specific areas/neighborhoods. So, I decided to not include it in the Top 10 worst of the worst cities in the United States.

>>591128738
I'm surprised to read your comments stating that you don't feel that there is danger in Phoenix and Tucson. There are certainly violent gangs and dangerous crime in the metro Phoenix area and with Tucson being so close to Mexico, I've got to think there are some scary places down there.

>>591128747
I'm sure there is more of an overall feeling of being unsafe in places like Kabul, but I'd have to think that has to do with there not being as much of a civilized police presence. Do you think that the criminals and the crime in places like Afghanistan are worse/scarier than they are in places like Detroit, Chicago, New Orleans, Camden? Do you not think that the gangs/gangsters in these hardcore American cities could battle the criminals/thugs in places like Kabul?

Sounds believable. Downtown Cleveland isn't too great. Don't walk more than two or three blocks at night or you're taking your chances.
I lived on W.127, it was a decent neighborhood at the time. Only one or two shady houses on my street. Guess it got bad right after I moved. Would go back and visit friends every couple months or so. One day I was visiting I was told a guy's car from my block got stolen and set on fire. Ran into a guy I went to Catholic elementary school with. At 15 he had hand and neck tattoos of whatever the local gang was.

Honestly it may be a case of being completely native to the area for so long that I have never had an issue. I would say that there isn't a single area I've driven or walked through that I would consider dangerous, hell maybe I am one of the sketchy brown dudes walking around everyone is scared of.

I was really surprised to read this guy's stories and to learn that Albuquerque is so fucked-up and violent and dangerous. You are really not surprised to hear about crazy shit like the things the guy described in these posts? Have you been to any other large cities to compare ABQ to? If so, how does it compare to other places you've been to? And do you have any personal stories about stuff you've experienced, seen or heard about?

>>591129097
I'm not really familiar with the geography of these cities, so I just lumped cities from the same state together on the list. Being from Little Rock, would you say that it's deserving of being on the list? Is it bad there in Little Rock? gangs? Drugs? Crime? Violence? And what is the worst out of those 3 Arkansas cities?

>>591129243
After starting around 30-40 of these threads over the past few months, I'm almost certain that you're the first person who has stated that St. Louis is worse than Detroit, in regards to anything. Have you actually spent time in the ghettos of Detroit? Or Flint? And if so, are you really of the opinion that the ghettos in St. Louis are more fucked-up than the ghettos in Detroit?? That just seems hard to believe.

>>591129481
I have heard that Philadelphia is really rough in the bad parts of the city. People also mention Kensington and Chester. Have you been to these cities/areas? If so, are they worse than Philly? Also, most people claim that Philadelphia is certainly bad, but that Camden, NJ, is actually significantly worse. Would you agree with that? Is Camden a scary place to be in at night, particularly, if you are not form there (i.e. black)?

Indianapolis is shitty. Not a day goes by without at least one murder. It's bad all over the city. I'm about 30 miles from downtown, and I work on the southeastern outskirts of the city. I avoid it like the plague. My job takes me all over the country, but by far the worst I've seen is east St. Louis. That place looks straight up post-apocalyptic.
>>
>>591131041
Camden is certainly worse as the whole city I feel is a shithole. Philly ranges from shithole to insanely nice. Rittenhouse Square in center city is gorgeous and my uncle who lives there paid several million for his house. South Philly can be kinda trashy but its also more predominately white so its not as bad. North Philly is really where you want to stay away from and sadly that's where the most young white kids have to live as that's where Temple, Drexel and Penn Universities are.

I'm assuming that you are a Mexican/Mexican/American? If so, are you thugged-out? Or just a regular Mexican guy? Either way, I'm sure it's possible that you could be right about perceived as being one of the harder folks around, so maybe people don't bother/fuck with you. As people say, how you carry yourself has a big impact on how you are perceived and treated by others. I'm a white guy in his 30s, born and raised in Arizona, and I have several friends who are hardened criminals who fucked their lives up by doing drugs and robbing people and giving up years of their lives to prisons around Arizona, but I have always been a nice, kind person and that type of shit did not appeal to me and actually really bothered me, so I've stayed out of serous trouble and mostly been a good person. However, everyone's personal situation is different, so I can understand how/why things turn out differently for different people.

Do you like Arizona? Which do you like more, Phoenix or Tucson? And where do you live now? Also, do you gamble/play poker? Just curious, as I know that Phoenix and Tucson both have several casinos.

>>591130931
People have posted in previous threads that Kansas has some rough cities. Iowa and Nebraska, too. Is Wichita worse than the ghettos in Topeka? Or Omaha? And do you have any good stories you want to greentext?

>>591132224
It seems as though lots of people from other countries think of America as being a nice place everywhere. To answer your question, yes, there are dozens, if not hundreds, of cities in the U.S. that are absolutely fucked-up, crime-ridden, violent and scary! The bad parts of Detroit, Chicago, Memphis, New Orleans, Los Angeles, New York City, are legitimately dangerous places where people get violently robbed/killed daily, in every one of those cities.

Where are you from? Do you like it there Would you want to visit America?

Someone who was from Indianapolis posted in a previous thread that Indy is really bad in the bad parts of the city; like, comparable to the bad parts of Gary. However, most people claim that Gary is significantly worse than Indianapolis and that Gary is as bad as Detroit, Flint, Camden, or any other fucked-up/ghetto city in the country. What do you think about that? Is Gary worse than even the worst parts of Indianapolis? And what about East Chicago, is it comparable to Gary?

As for East St. Louis, people have stated that it literally looks like a war zone; similar to what people have described Camden as looking like.

You state that your job takes you all over the country, so I'm assuming you've been to places like Detroit, Flint, Memphis, New Orleans, Milwaukee, Oakland, Richmond, Stockton, Philadelphia, etc., is East St. Louis really worse than the bad parts of cities like these?

>>591133141
What about Chester, Pa? Have you been there? Assuming you have been there, how does it compare to Philadelphia? How would you rate Camden, Chester, and Philadelphia, in order, in terms of being the most-uneasy/scariest to be in at night?

I would say just a regular Mexican guy, honestly if its how i appear the only time I might look hard is when my head is shaved and I'm rocking a beard.

I do prefer Tucson compared to Phoenix, If i had to live in one of the two places it would be Tucson. I don't personally gamble but many of my family who visit AZ always spend time going to most of the casinos, so much that I have an Uncle that plays poker who visits for some of the tournaments specifically.

I actually haven't been to many of the other places listed here. I've driven past them, but never into them. As far as comparing Gary to Indianapolis or East Chicago, I can't tell you. I do my best to avoid all of them based on reputation alone because I'm a pussy.

Have you actually been to Rio or Detroit? Just curious, as I have not actually been to either place. And I realize that there are surely some incredibly dangerous places in places like Rio, but do you not think that the violent, hardened thugs of places like Detroit would be able to handle their own against the bad elements in the ghettos of Brazil? I would think that the hardcore gangsters/criminals/thugs of Detroit, Chicago, Philadelphia, Camden, Memphis, New Orleans, Los Angeles, New York City, and similar American cities would be able to hang/bang with even the most-violent criminals in places like Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Philippines, South Africa, etc. Do you think otherwise?

And while I was born and raised in Chandler, I have to ask, are you a Wildcats fan? If so, Bear Down! Go, 'Cats!

I'm surprised to read your comments, as most people who are familiar with Youngstown claim that it's possibly/probably the most fucked-up city in Ohio. People from/familiar with Cleveland claim that the east side of Cleveland is the worst and several people have claimed that Youngstown is even worse than east Cleveland. People have also claimed that Akron, Dayton, and Columbus are pretty bad cities in the rough parts.

Hello there, Officer. Assuming you're being truthful about being a police officer in Baltimore, I'm really glad to see you posting, as I'd really like to ask you some questions and get your thoughts on things, especially, about Bodymore, Murderland.

First off, is that an appropriate nickname for Baltimore? Are you a fan of The Wire? If so, who is your favorite character? (It better be Omar!) Was the way Baltimore was depicted in The Wire a great exaggeration compared to how the city really is? A mild exaggeration? Or no exaggeration at all?

And have you been to any of the other cities on the list? Or any of the fucked-up cities on the East Coast? Camden? Philadelphia?Chester? Wilmington?

Also, what color are you? Are you at least partially-racist? How old are you? And how many years have you been a cop for?

Also, have you been shot at/shot? Have you shot at/shot someone? Are you scared while patrolling the bad areas of Baltimore? And are the thugs in B-Mo scared of the police at all?

If you choose to reply with answers to these questions, it would definitely be appreciated!

I have read in several previous threads that Virginia has some fucked-up cities; particularly, Richmond. People have claimed that Richmond is really bad, and deserving of being.

I should have also included West Virginia, or, at least, Charleston, as it has been mentioned multiple times in previous threads.

Do you have any personal stories you'd like to share?
