Disk herniations everywhere suffered through to stay in but after extending my first 4 years to 6 to take orders to Kadena Japan....they medboarded me and through me out on my ass. 10k severence and now 13 years suffering under the VA leaves me resentfull of it all. NOT WORTH A MINUTE if you get injured in training or due to lack there of early on. IE Life ruined and don't even feel like a veteran though I am one legally. 18 years old, all set to go to basic training in 4 months, and I find Dad in the garage having blown his head off with a shotgun. Left for basic anyway as a 12B, go to Leonard Wood, go through basic and AIT, did temporary duty in Natick MA before going to the black hole that is Fort Riley. Surprisingly, I got in with an engineer unit deploying in only 4 months, and when I showed up they had just gotten back from NTC. So I was basically as green as they come. I learned fast, did route clearance in Afghanistan driving an RG-31 for 24 hours at a time, gunning on odd days. Did several dismounted patrols as well, though luckily none of that got very messy (we were very careful). After 3 months the LT catches me having a breakdown behind the motor pool, they ship me home. Put me in therapy for a bit. My unit hated me for being sent home early and shunned me. Shortly after they declared me 70% disabled and sent me home.
