Pictures of people in tight spaces.... and caving pics in general
ya kind of the point of the post, id personally never cave haha
I was participating in the "UT Grotto Club." I quit going caving when I figured out that all the hard core members knew at least one person that died in a cave. There's better ways to spend time for sure.
Been on a private tour of mammoth caves and that shit got pretty tight and really scarey. I almost pissed myself when we had to go through a tight spot a mile in. It was 6 of us and a tour guide. I was the last to go through this crack in the rock, my clothes got stuck and I was off my feet so it took 5min to get me loose. Everyone except the tour guides had to turn their lights of so I can't see, can't stand, can't move, all I can hear is 2 people moving and it was cold.
If they didn't get me loose, we were stuck as the tour took us to this amazing dead end. I wasn't even the biggest dude. Finally they cut my pack and I got free but I had to take another breather to calm down. Shit was wack.
how did they die? getting stuck or falling down a shaft?
its crazy most people are scared of dying in this way or that but being trapped in the dark with no ability to move is the worst your stuck, your done there is no way of getting out you have no control.... that is the worst
they don't even look worried
what shit do you have to encounter in your life that squeezing through a tiny fucking hole in a pitch black cave not even good enough for things to live in is anything more than terrifying
It's the idea that you can put yourself on the brink of death and be so skilled you survive. Also exploration is fun. You gotta be a litlle nuts to be honest.
>spoopy story involving caving
It's a classic, give it a read if you haven't before.
I think that was the original site it was on back in the day.
...basically. He goes caving and starts digging into an uncharted tunnel.
>hears freaky shit
>has urge to go back into the cave to find whatever it is
>Guy and friend find 2spoopy cave
>go exploring in it
>find a small hole that gives off a weird vibe
>they decide to mine through it
>They hear a weird scream coming from the hole
>they go into the hole, explore
>they find creepy symbols on the walls of the caves
Kind of forget what happens after this point, Pretty sure it goes something like this:
>Guys friend gets attacked by some weird thingy (Didn't describe)
>They gtfo of the cave
>weird monster thingy is chasing them
>they get out just barely
>After they leave the cave, they witness the rope that they used to rappel into the cave get pulled on from whatever was at the bottom of the cave
Probably one of the best 2spoopy stories I've ever read.
i just sat through that underwater shit that makes you uneasy thread but.. this? nah fuck you guys
everyone in this thread just left, or noped the fuck out.
getting lost is another way to die. getting lost cam also.mean losing your.light, as in you cant navigate back.even.if.you know the way. id rather die like that than dying.of.thirst in an iron maiden.
also he was stuck at a 60degree angle downward, at one point he has a loop on his feet, being rescued, and it slipped and he fell even deeper in the hole. You couldnt brute force pull him out because of the angle would break his legs and snap and get stuck.
>On November 24, 2009, John Jones died after becoming trapped in the cave for 28 hours. Rescuers concluded that it would be too dangerous to attempt to retrieve his body; the landowner and Jones' family came to an agreement that the cave should be permanently closed with the body sealed inside.
i heard it in a thread a couple months ago, made me shit my pants thinkning about it. But, he went to an unexplored area, downward angle and he got stuck and couldnt turn around, and couldnt push himself out cause of the angle. Just a general shit/fuck/kill myself fest.
If i ever to go splunking, id have to bring a grenade or a gun along. or a cyanide pill.
Fags need to read house of leaves.
Then you'll get some perspective on why cave diving is a terrifying thing.
Just imagine a cave that changes shape to keep you in it.

that book is fucking horrifying, and it only gets worse every time I reread.
Anyone got a link to some Japanese comic shit that's like, a rock cliff is discovered that has lots of people-shape tunnels carved into it
Sup! I was just caving in Knoxville last week. Always tried to go to some grotto meetings but they're so infrequent it was too hard to get involved.
>Pic related: it's the pit in Cherokee Bluff Cave
I... I just... ccouldn't iimagine
So so much nope right there
"Oh look a really fucking small hole"
"Imma see if I can crawl in there"
I just dont understand the thought process... Even if there is others around, what if there is an earthquake/cave in or something...
Pic kinda related.
Imagine that horrifying moment...Oh fuck, I'm stuck... the more you wriggle the more stuck you get...
I've always been scared of that water thing. What's it called... thallasaphobia. But underwater caving would just make me shit myself.
This thread is nothing. You want real danger try getting /out/ in some abandoned mines.
Pic related: abandoned coal mine in Nelsonville, Ohio
It used to freak me out just looking at these photos but I watched so many caving videos I got desensitized. I'd never do it in real life though.
nice man i lol'd
ITT: basement-dwelling pussies afraid to step foot outside!
Pic is from when my buddies and I explored an awesome cave in the Santa Monica mountains last summer.
I did actually find that funny.
Or maybe just a few people who get a little claustrophobic?
I'm reading this now. I'm sp00ked to the max
>MFW reading this thread
>MFW when cave in when reading this thread
I was hiking up a mountain that had a rock chimney. It did a corkscrew upwards and my arms were pinned to my sides by the end. Right as I got to the end, a wasp lands in front of my nose.
Didn't sting me, but fuck.
There's a pretty cool geocache'd cave in Yosemite I've checked out. But man I really don't get why people will light fires underground. I've found piles of ash and soot-covered ceilings too many times for me to believe it's uncommon. That's just retarded.
NOPE NOPE GET THIS SHIT OUT OF HERE WHAT T!E FUCK NOPE I CAN'T FUCKING BREATH NOW THANK YOU FAGGOTS
I feel most comfortable underground. Like you're inside the earth.
Underwater is a different story
Only things I know about are transferred from other animals i.e. bats. I know you're not supposed to drink the water in caves, but that's mostly because it's highly acidic.
I read it when I was 17 and pushed it on my friends like Jehovah Witness push the watchtower.
It actually helped me get over my fears of darkness, loneliness, insanity, isolation, and other things.
Still though when I was reading it...
I was never more afraid of hearing the sounds my house makes when it settles at night.
Aye yeah I get that... Its cool, quiet and peaceful...
But crawling into tunnels that are only slightly bigger than me... JUST to see what is on the other side?
Nope, ill just take your word for it thanks.
i clicked next 3 times stressing out until i realized it was the end of the story. Could make some fucking fantastic creepy pasta. please someone make.
I know, it's impossible to focus on tasks, I've done it once. Maybe taking dmt right after I read it...
I still get scared like a little bitch, but I'm old enough to tell myself that I'm a grown ass man.
Contributing my OC to your cause
Like I said,
Part of the ride
np, anytime man
nice OC, cheers
This picture reminds me of the movie Sanctum.
Maybe somewhere down there,
something's waiting for us.
Like imagine these squid, or some unknown type of deep sea animal share intelligence rivaling our own.
Dont like your pic...
But agreed, you sir, are right.
It's a two way street.
I remember driving through the plains at night.
Just that sea of darkness.
And then seeing those windmills all flashing in unison...
