Join local riding forums and go out with experienced riders with a teaching mindset. And avoid city limits, that's how you get ran over.

Also wouldn't hurt to check out Keith c"Codes "twist of the wrist 2". Actings horrible nursing good lessons. Oh and trackdays are like crack, addicting and expensive but Itll make you feel great. You'll learn more in a day at the track then a year on the street.

The chatter only happens when I brake really hard, like if I am doing 50 and want to come to a stop the fastest time possible, but after that it somewhat goes away, maybe it's like ceramic brakes? where they need some "heat up" time before they work properly? and the noise from the rotor has been like that for 3k miles/since I bought it, doubt the brakes stay brand new all those thousand of miles.

of the bikes I've had I liked this one the least from the factory; it took a lot of money and mods to get it right for me.

The suspension was crap so a setup, shims and a different set of tires fixed that, then the ergo's were harsh so I changed the controls and rear sets to get my weight off wrists, I almost sold it then. But gave it more money: The factory tune sucked it was a very uneven throttle an Sbu flash, BMC filter and graves 3/4 TI link saved that bike from being sold a second time. I rode it for a few thousand miles and finally felt like it was "right" the day I highsided at about 60 mph.

I never mentioned speeding or hard riding. When I first started riding on a Ninja 500r, in an open two lane avenue I had a guy put out right in front of me. Have you toured on it? I had one, it was good in the dirt but way too heavy to be practical. I bought it because I was planning a big trip but it wasn't up to it. I used a 650 in the end.

I have and don't disagree with your statement. I've taken it on 1 and 2 track trails and it's a handful. Definitely no dirt bike but It's rather dirt capable. You have to ride it with more caution and look ahead as it's a beast if the trail goes against you.

Really shines as an adventure tourer because you can carry so much gear, go all day on a tank and do so in comfort. I have taken mine 1200km in a day which was 2 tanks without much discomfort. I added cruise, pegs, protection and of course seats to make it that way.

We'll see how the new breed of all electronic everything bikes go. I went for the last oil/air cooled because of that.

I had the 800 before I went to the 1200. Way prefer the 12 both on and off road actually.

Thought about the 650 Sertas but I'm mostly pavement with maybe 5 to 10% dirt, gravel or fire trail/logging roads.

Once you get out of reach of a bed for the night, the 12 is where it's at. I completed 6000km in a week, camping and onroad/offroad (mostly onroad). You can haul yourself plus another 400lbs of gear. Head down to South America and you'll see more of them as the roads are shittier.

Next upgrade is going to be the Africa clutch though. I tend to burn my clutch when I noob it on a 1/2 track hill.
