Shit tier movie when it comes to dialogue and story, god tier when it comes to pictures
another example of such a movie is the great gatsby btw.
> actual god tier movie
Inception is seriously a sub par movie
It really isn't good, its a predictable "heist" movie that becomes boring fast. Basically Ocean's 11/12/13 with some neat CGI
Want some God tier movies, go watch
City of God
and Dicaprio isn't over rated, imo
Just watch a good Dicaprio movie like Catch me if You Can or Aviator instead of judging him on trash like Titanic or Inception
Without a doubt one of, if not the best film ever made. It always gets posted in threads like this for obvious reasons though, I find it more fun to try to dig up less known films that are god-tier. (Not that Pi is unknown, but less unknown than Shawshank)
"2001: A Space Odyssey" still sits in a category of its own for me.
Amazing movie, shame it was ruined by redubbing.
I love it, but most of my friends I showed it to hated it...
Primer is another one that I loved and not to many of my friends liked... I need new friends
omg dude, I loved Primer
Such an amazing movie and the guy that wrote/directed/starred in it had a $7000 budget since he got turned down by every studio he submitted
Blows my mind that he could make a movie with $7000 that is better than 90% of movies with $100 mil budgets
They sounds like complete plebs, m8.
I'll probably leave the Cocoon of Autism and go watch this on the big screen
I didn't mind it. Jodorowsky has always been considered a bit bent. I love the ending. I'd really like for a decent remaster to become available though.
Check out 'Jodorowsky's Dune' also.
Lawrence of Arabia
Pretty good one
King of New York
Dead Man's Shoes
I Saw the Devil
Rise of the Foot Soldier
I <3 Huckabees
Book of Eli
Man on Fire
Lock Stock &... bla bla bla
All must watch...
I kinda wanted Robert Carlyle to be in it, and when he wasn't I was dissapointed... still like it, obviously, but still. I find him to be the finest currently working British actor. Cases in point: Angelas' Ashes, The Rise of Evil
Yeah, maybe. I love it though, Williams was an underrated actor in general when it came to "serious" films... I'd even go so far as to say that he was better in those than in the comedies he stared in and produced.
Scarface (with Al Pacino)atedacy nigge
Saving Private Ryan
Full Metal Jacket
The Dark Knight (Joker, bitch!)
The Sixth Sense
Catch Me If You Can
The Butterfly Effect
Tears of the Sun
Symetria (polish movie)
Dirty Harry series
The Bucket List
Lord of War
The Thin Red Line
No Country for Old Men
legit great, real weird
get in the halloween spirit with these babys:
Fright Night (1985)
Evil Dead (2013), a rare case of a great remake. Watch the originals if you haven't seen them, too, obv
The topic ITT is god-tier movies, not "god-tier movies everyone's already heard about because they topped the box office". Also, most people who are into film have heard of these, the fact that you're a fucking pleb doesn't mean everyone else is.
Well, Final Cut is awesome, like we agreed already. I also like him in Good Will Hunting, even if that film is overrated otherwise. One Hour Photo was also good as far as he's concerned, kinda weird to see him in a villain role though, but he did good.
His laugh alone makes this film a 10/10
>tells others they like to feel superior this way
>needs to call a good movie shit on some buthanese imageboard to feel superior
Yes it is, it's derivative, predictable and generally shitty. Cool visuals is all there is to it, but that could be said for other shitflicks as well. Equilibrium is a fine example.
intelligent film that no one knows about
Cant believe on one posted the eternal GOAT Film.
none of you fags, in none of this throds mention NAKED LUNCH.
Its godlike tier.
Fuckin newfags, underage b&.
Dragon ball z battle of the gods
We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, and a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers... and also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of Budweiser, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.
Not that we needed all that for the trip, but once you get locked into a serious drug collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can.
Parts of Gone Girl haven't left my head since I watched it two days ago. It's actually refreshing to watch a movie that doesn't have a typical Hollywood ending.
one of the best italian westerns out there.
>Ennio Morricone soundtrack
Saving Private Ryan
the 10 hour version called Band of Brothers is better in every way.
if you loved primer check out coherence.
Ghost In The Shell.
way better than the entire matrix trilogy ripoff.
>DiCaprio is one of the most underrated actors
What? Almost everyone praises him to heavens, calling him one of the best actors in history. How is that underrated? Its the exact opposite.
if you love modern western i would recommend this and also The Proposition.
I know right. He plays bad guys best. Like in Leon the Professional or The Fifth Element (in the latter case he and Bruce Willis saved the whole movie).
But I gotta admit, though I hate to do it, that Gary Oldman's fucked up last time. He gets roles that are to whack for such a great actor. Like in Harry Potter or Batman series. He played those characters (Sirius and Gordon), but the characters themselves were weak. It's just not his level.
its shit to the eyes of the beholder....i find it personally appealing..that bad acting, awkward fighting scene, abysmal storyline and whatnot...And it was a tribute to the 70's blaxploitation movie...And I liked it very much..Definitely a movie you should watch for the lols...
I watched it for the second time a month or two back. It's still just as amazing.
To be honest the first movie I ever saw him in was Harry Potter, and I really liked him in that. Although I am a massive Harry Potter fan.
Inception is a piece of trash, and DiCaprio is an overrated piece of trash.
Every single 'good' movie he has been in has been him playing a historical figure. Easily researched and mimicked. People fall for his looks.
I usually don't like dramas or documentaries, but this one is amazing
He played well in HP but it's not his ground really. The reason why the character sucked was because the Director fucked it up. Watch the older movies with him, he's fucking amazing
Check DiCaprio in What Bites Gilbert Grape. He was at his beginning and played awesum.
I don't know why u don't like him. IMO Inception is great and DiCaprio is great, but you're right that his last roles are worse than before. But in Django for example he played well, though I hated his character. But he played it well.
Because everyone says he's such an amazing actor when he's not at all. He got super famous from Titanic and when studios realized he's basically solid gold for women to buy tickets they put him in everything. In reality he is very mediocre. He's just unusually good looking.
Titanic is shit. If you want to tell if he's a good actor, watch Blood Diamond, What Bites Gilbert Grape, Catch Me If You Can, The Departed and Django. Every single role from the above is different and played well. Well, IMO.
Braindead (Dead Alive) and also the LOTR trilogy had such awesome practical effects. When I see all the CGI in the new Hobbit movies i hate him for that.
Titanic is shit. Blood Diamond is terrible stinky shit (dat cringe accent). What Bites Gilbert Grape is good. Catch Me if you Can is good, but not because of him. The Departed was garbage. Django Unchained sucked
this movie is the stupidest movie i have ever seen.
the bitch that die can stop the man that killed her BUT she rather expend that time with the boy she liked when she was alive, and bc of that that guy keep killing, for 30 years more, i HATE THIS MOVIE with a passion.
blood diamond - sentimental shit
gilbert grape - sbore fest
catch me if you can - shitty jolly skipping ala titanic
the departed and django - did not watch, stopped seeing anything with dicaprio
considering i will still see affleck movies out of morbid curiosity, diCaprio is 10x worse
>hurr durr 'murricans so brave
>killin da evil, soleless, faceless germans
It's story of bunch of faggots fighting an enemy that was already beaten turned into some heroic shit for the american market.
I hated the poor built of characters, they were not the least autentic and the dialogue was just poorly written like the author never had had an actual conversation with an another human before.
I loved the costume design and the surealistic universe in generel but I hated that labyrinth part in the second movie.
Mostly Im just waiting for the Cenobites dialogue and they are often way to short.
Ah, that's where we differ. I loved Blood Diamond, Departed was average, but his role was cool, Django was a 5/10 movie with cool humor and cool DiCaprio, but something was not right with the movie overall.
anyone remember the scene in Pi where the man is flying the toy bird in chinatown? i was on the street the day that was being filmed.
good and fun enough film to me
