It used to be open world PVP the min you stepped over the bridge there'd be twenty dicks in a "clan" aka <clanname><yourname> and they'd range you to death unless you frantically ran to the cabbage field. I really loved runescape. For me the short era between the 210 dungeoneering and the late loyality program playing the game was really enjoyable. But everything added to the game lately is just alienative. Micropayment in a game you pay on a monthly basis anyway? Putting billions of gp into the game. Adding new exp sourced that are just dishonor the past methods. So many game developers lately have recognized that its about letting the player chose a playstyle, while making everything about equally valible. But jagex did not. They seem like an unorganzized bunch that lets all the stupid, blasphemous idea of all the new noob employees go through. In late podcasts the main balancer of the game states "Balance is important because only a balanced game is" He is the faggot who sets xp rates, item value (in thought of the TILLIONS OF GP flushed in the game through PoP armor), drop tables and ge starting prices. Its just makes me angry how they rush everything not even thinking about the players who put their time into a game. They didnt even take the time to have interviews with *real* players about the game. (especially the tutorial) They are like the complete opposite of blizzard. The beginning of runescape attracted a very certain group of people. Just by having a solid economy, a good and rewarding skill system, and a lot of adventure binding to items and areas. The game overall MADE SENSE. Unlike so many modern (mmo) rpgs. Even though I dont play myself anymore, I just cant let go. In hope for some big jagex employee taking a risk (for himself) and turning things into a reasonable way.
