REPOST

Hey, /b/. I've been thinking for a bit about internet faggotry and I've become a self-proclaimed major in the subject.(Because being a minor on this site is a good way to get banned.) Anyway, I've been thinking about the triumvirate of idiocy on the internet. 4chan, reddit, and tumblr. All three powerful in their reign of power of individual kinds of stupid people. Now, why the fuck does this matter, you ask. Why should you care? There's a simple answer to that.

What separates the people of /b/ from the SJWs over at tumblr, besides some world views? Well, I set to find out, and I think I came to several conclusions that, at least for myself, were eye-opening.

1. Both tumblr and 4chan both have certain groups that highlight the faggotry, SJWs and /b/, respectively. However, reddit doesn't have direct communities like this, it comes from discussion of its popular posts.

2. tumblr and reddit are both a form of expression through labels, where as 4chan is more discussion oriented.

3. They all act very similarly, taking shots at each other every single chance they can.

Now, seeing as they're all so similar, there are the important differences that need to be addressed.

1. Layout. Certain styles are more appealing to certain people or groups.

2. Site features. Things like profile pictures and descriptions can grab more people from things like Facebook.

3. Introduction. To reach the site, you learn about it somehow.

Now, we get to my revelation, where I realized the huge differences between the communities of faggots on each site. All three sites represent a different level of life.

tumblr is childhood, reddit is teenager-dom, and 4chan is adulthood.

tumblr is filled with people who want to feel special, they're told they're special and then say that to the people who haven't angered them or their friends. They're incapable of distinguishing opinions from beliefs and become offended when they feel their specialness hasn't been acknowledged. Will cont.
>>
bump for mild interest
>>
That's why otherkin exist. It's all to perpetuate the idea that the tumblr user is special. The Social Justice shit is all a bubble-wrapped cult, built to draw in vulnerable people who need to feel a little special and then slowly introduce them to more radical, insane ideologies. A cult with no leader. A perpetual faggotry machine.

Now we get to reddit, which doesn't have the customization options of tumblr, but still takes time to appreciate the individual, but not nearly to the same degree. reddit is a bunch of highschoolers going around beginning to understand that their voice is but a small whimper in the cloud. It's entire design is based on making sure ideas that do not follow with the rest of the hive-mind are placed down below, where none will see. Posts are made to where they have to popular quick to get on the front page. Snappy titles and shitty image macros get more space because they're quicker to view. But the problem is also that the name is still there. It becomes too much about the image, keeping yourself looking presentable for the others, in case someone tracked your posts to that account. You have to be a little conformist, just like at tumblr.

Then we get to /b/, the apparent polar opposite. For the most part, this is true. Image doesn't generally matter at /b/ because it can't. Your name is just a temporary tag to keep track. It's the realization that you are just like everyone else. Posts are not rated, just put in order of which updated when. The only time image matters is when humor can be obtained. That's because the main difference /b/ has with the other sites is it's outlook. tumblr uses weakness as a chance to gain power and users, while /b/ uses it for lulz. reddit's whole design is based to keep certain ideas down, while /b/ lets ALL ideas run free in its chaos. But /b/ is not perfect.

One moment.

>/b/ is not perfect
BLASPHAMY
All the gore and waifu threads prove we are the superior race
>>
>>562015140
Thank you.

/b/'s problem is that it's in a constant identity crisis. It never truly knows what it fucking is. It's convinced that it is either garbage or pure gold. That, and it doesn't like inviting others in. Whenever /b/ does something big and causes hilarity and drama through the misfortune of others, it is proud, but also frustrated. Because now the news sites will mention /b/, and a new group that doesn't understand the true goals gets shoved in and doesn't see what's behind the porn and raids. They can't see that /b/ isn't a place of several subjects. It is what its name implies. It is every subject. Those on /b/ call each other such terrible things because that's what /b/ is full of. The faggots who made it what it is. And just about everybody hates what it is, but keeps a devotion to it. Like an elitist club that complains about its original logo and every single member.

So, why is reddit the one that garners most hate from both /b/ and tumblr?

Because reddit cannot create its own identity. As shitty as tumblr and /b/ are, they worked hard to define their shit, but reddit just sucks all the cocks on the internet and gets so much popularity from it. It creates nothing of value and shits upon anything it borrows. It's an insult to the internet.
>>
>>562017487

It isn't just reddit that can't create an identity, the entire fucking internet is like this. They all just copy parts of the chans (the parts they like) and go about their merry day.
>>
The thing is, reddit can't realize this. It can't put these points together and realize its flaws. They are built directly into the system, as well as the users. When it comes to the worst design, reddit is easily the one who gets that prize, but when we bring up community, reddit at least on the surface appears as something of mild intelligence. tumblr and /b/ don't, but for different reasons. tumblr is a place where intelligence is frowned upon because it doesn't work with the hive mind, very similarly to reddit, but more personally. It goes out of its way to punish individuals for thinking outside of their perimeters and then treating them like trash, causing said members to leave. /b/ is just everything and doesn't give half a fuck what it looks like. It's designed to pick out people who cannot deal with what it has and throw them to shittier sites, who give them the parts they wanted from /b/.

>>562018102
This is actually a great point. It's just that reddit literally is only a place to get things from better sites that slowly become more and more trash. It has no identity not only because it creates nothing, but because it exists to show nothing.
>>
Just so you guys know, I'm gonna take a bit of a breather from the longer posts, so discuss this shit, if you want. I'll provide a little insight.
>>
>>562019149
I'll give your analysis this much, I read it. More than I can say for a lot of long posts.
>>
Shameless bump.

Also, for the sake of keeping the topic, this is how you allow things to be seen on /b/. By posting in them. No liking or sharing. No hand picked lists of what people what to see. You get shoved in your face whatever might be shoved. Be thankful this is not a dick.
>>
>>562019985
Oh, thanks. I'm glad you took time many others would spend fapping to read my stupid shit.
>>
>>562017487
Reddit defines itself by looking down on everyone and everything else that's not there.

Reddit's like that fucking Super Bowl party where all the food was purchased from Walmart or scraped together with Food Network recipes, and all the furniture in the house comes from Pier One, but the hosts think they're awesome because they've got a couple growlers from that local brewery up the road.

/b/ defines it's self as the single place in the universe where shear brilliance and utter stupidity are synonymous. Anyone who has been browsing the place long enough will come to know that.

In general this place to me has always been somewhat surreal just because feel threads will have /b/ro's showing each other compassion while calling each other faggots in another thread. It's almost like a giant war where the only belligerents are members of the same giant fucking family.

/b/ is the one place where ordinary everyday people come and take off their masks and truly be human.
It is the one place where people can truly be honest with themselves and each other, and we can finally find of how alike and different we really are.
The real human experience is recorded in these threads, and I feel that it is fitting that each and every one 404s eventually.

That's the other big thing between tumblr and us. tumblr, everything is forever. Members are forever, posts are forever. There's no appreciating something after its gone. When you see a screenshot of a 4chan thread, you think, "I missed that, but I can still see." You can go to any shitty tumblr post. Their whole idea of equality and specialty is what ultimately makes them so detached. The only reason tumblr fights for those movements is because it wants more ways to split people up into groups, so it can feel special.

It can be argued that a thread on 4chan can be viewed as symbol of a human life.

Each thread has it's own experiences, only the person that the thread embodies is created and killed by anons.

Looking at a screen shot of a thread is like looking at a memory. The original thread may have died but the memory of the thread still goes on.

>>562025237
It depends on what you mean about memes. Are you talking about image macros like your example or actual memes? They are different. Image macros general began in major popularity with Advice Dog, which was funny because it was so outrageous. The Zurg-Rush rape of image macros simply occurred because constant recreation of a barely funny thing, it just became less and less funny, so now people post them thinking they're funny simply because of heritage.

We can't function as monsters. 4chan encourages behavioral deviancy, and even if it is what we really are, it's awful. Rape and murder are part of the human condition- but we don't want to be that way.

As cruel a parody it is of real life, reddit keeps us civilized. Also, there's the fact that since odds are you are part of a majority, you will enjoy what the hivemind posts. Karma keeps good stuff coming up most of the time.

no, i mean that whenever i see the same exact thread being discussed everyday, i don't believe is part of the hivemind, in those cases the threads mutate, when they stay fixated is because there is some sort of reaction being expected/monitored by someone/somegroup. Sometimes for lulz, sometimes for other IRL motives.
>>
>>562026556
What about lol cats? Image macros have been around for a long time. That was around 2005-06. lol cats were really popular. The advice dog and offspring fails start happening around 08-09. It just seems since then those type memes (advice dog type) have just been so fucking popularized that everyone thinks thats what a meme should be, or is. instead of having an original meme like all your base or nedm. memes that arent like the picture I posted. "FAIL TEXT, PUNCHLINE"

>>562025903
Yeah I understand that. Im talking about when, lets say, /b/ starts using something like over 9000 as a meme. at the time it was a new joke, something fresh. not an unoriginal, already been done joke that everyones done and has seen a millions times before. there was a time when meme creation was random and new, and that time seemed to stop around when advice dog type memes were rising in popularity.
>>
>>562027946
yea thats all they know its like a lot of things you see it every were. a nice example is brand shit like nikes only problem its illegal for them to have a monopoly. i.e. pepsi and coke need each other to live as companies. but they aren't at all different just a bit of sweetener in one over the other.
>>
There is this show in the UK, I'm sure most of you are aware of, it's called QI. The general mindset of the show is, the quickest way to look stupid is to presume that you know something. It is only by accepting the the possibility that you might be wrong that can gain wisdom. I feel like 4chan encapsulates that idea, as strange or blasphemic as that may sound. Or at least in terms of morality. 4chan know it's full of terrible people and since it can accept that fact, it is more aware of its actions and how they will affect others. It can make an informed decision as to whether it wants to do the right thing or the wrong thing.

Meanwhile Tumblr is so sure of its goodness that it doesn't realize that it is actually evil. It deems everything as unholy and must burn, until one day the entire world has been scorched by its wrath. It's like some sort of really shitty godawful Space Marine facsimile. Because words are like bullets, and hashtags are like chain swords I guess.
>>
>>562028445
Its what happens when you let people express themselves. You really can't move past your own hatred, only ignore it. It will always occupy a small portion of your mind no matter what you do to help yourself be more tolerant.

It's in our nature to hate the unknown, often times that unknown happens to be people, but it's also in our nature to live by each others' happiness.
>>
>>562027597
My endgame? Well, the thing that separates reddit from the others is its pandering to everyone. It's a blank space without substance filled to easily get to more interesting things. It's a social google where you don't search and you decide what people see, while keeping the less popular subreddits down and far away from the front page. It's a mindless field of people deciding what you should see. It's complete dependency on the hivemind, while still attempting to act individual.

tumblr is that, but where individualism is downright hated. It is all about hating things. Hating abortion, hating men, hating video games, etc. It's a circle of complete hatred. All done for the image. All done to look like you belong in the special group.

/b/ is humanity. Pure, unfiltered humanity. That's why tumblr can't stand it. It's not pandering to the community. You just act. If you do illegal shit, you get punished, but no one cares, because no one knows. You can just be.
