Mantas can be found in temperate, subtropical and tropical waters. Both species are pelagic; M. birostris migrates across open oceans, singly or in groups, while M. alfredi tends to be resident and coastal. They are filter feeders and eat large quantities of zooplankton, which they swallow with their open mouths as they swim. Gestation lasts over a year, producing live pups. Mantas may visit cleaning stations for the removal of parasites. Like whales, they breach, for unknown reasons.

Both species are listed as vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. Anthropogenic threats include pollution, entanglement in fishing nets, and direct harvesting for their gill rakers for use in Chinese medicine. Their slow reproductive rate exacerbates these threats. They are protected in international waters by the Convention on Migratory Species of Wild Animals, but are more vulnerable closer to shore. Areas where mantas congregate are popular with tourists. Only a few aquariums are large enough to house them. In general, these large fish are seldom seen and difficult to study.

In 1968, Masum was the KDP representative in Basrah. He was also the representative of the Kurdish Revolution in Cairo, until 1975.[3]

Masum was one of the founders of the PUK in 1976.[6] By 1992, he was the first Prime Minister of Kurdistan.[6] In 2003, following the invasion of Iraq, Masum returned to Baghdad to be a member of the delegation representing Kurdistan, and was a member of the constitution drafting committee.[3] In 2010, Masum became the first Speaker of the Council of Representatives.[4]

In 2014, he was elected by the parliament representatives as the seventh president of Iraq.[7] Masum won 211 votes while his closest competitor, Barham Saleh,[7] only received 17.[8] The decision was made during a secret vote of Kurdish MPs, who traditionally have control over the Presidency for the sake of political balance.[7] United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon was present in Iraq when the decision was made, meeting with Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki about the need for a more inclusive government.[9] Masum accepted the position, noting the "huge security, political and economic tasks" he faces as President.[10]

In 2008 Shochiku hired Koyama to adapt Aoki Shinmon (ja)'s autobiographical Coffinman: The Journal of a Buddhist Mortician (????? N?kanfu Nikki?); this was Koyama's first venture in the feature film industry.[4] Koyama dropped many of the books religious themes, changing them with more humanistic ones,[5] and integrated a subplot from a novel he was writing.[6] For the title he coined the term okuribito, a euphemism for morticians derived from the words okuru ("to send off") and hito ("person").[7] The final film, Departures, was submitted to the 81st Academy Awards for the

He was born to George Henry Peabody and Elvira Peabody (née Canfield) as the first of four children. Both parents were native New Englanders of colonial ancestry. George Henry Peabody, who came from a line of merchants, bankers and professional men, had moved from Connecticut to Columbus, Georgia, where he ran a prosperous general store. On May 2, 1881, Peabody became a partner in the new firm of Spencer Trask & Company. During the 1880s and 1890s this investment house took a leading part in financing electric lighting corporations, sugar beet and other industrial enterprises, and railroad construction in the western United States and Mexico. Peabody himself handled most of the firm's railroad investments, working in close association with William J. Palmer. He also became a director in numerous corporations. Peabody, his brother Charles Jones Peabody and Spencer Trask amassed a great portion of their wealth from the Edison Electric Company. Trask served as president of Edison Electric Illuminating, and when J. P. Morgan—protégé of New England businessman/philanthropist George Peabody—financier of Edison Electric, merged all into the General Electric Company in 1892, George Foster Peabody became a member of the GE board of directors.

Dr Alexander "Sasha" Tsinker (Hebrew: ??????? ??????, born 2 January 1953) is a former Israeli politician who served as a member of the Knesset for Yisrael BaAliyah and the Democratic Choice between 1999 and 2003.
Biography

Born in the Ukrainian SSR in the Soviet Union, Tsinker gained an MA at the Polytechnic Institute in Armenia in 1975 and a PhD from the Moscow Scientific Center for Management in 1988. He worked as a systems analyst and made aliyah to Israel in 1990.

For the 1999 elections he was placed sixth on the Yisrael BaAliyah list,[1] and entered the Knesset as the party won six seats. On 20 July 1999, just over a month after the elections, Tsinker and Roman Bronfman left the party to establish a new Knesset faction; six days later it was renamed "Mahar" (a Hebrew acronym for Party for Society and Reforms), and in October adopted the name "Democratic Choice".[2]

Prior to the 2003 elections Tzinker left the Democratic Choice (which was to be allied to Meretz) and established a new party, Citizen and State, which he headed.[3] However, the party won only 1,566 votes (0.05%), well below the 1.5% election threshold, and Tzinker lost his seat.

In the run-up to the 2006 elections, Citizen and State was taken over by former Shinui MKs, led by Avraham Poraz, and renamed Hetz.

Dalis Car was a musical group formed in 1984 by Peter Murphy (vocalist), Mick Karn (bassist, keyboardist, guitarist, saxophonist) and Paul Vincent Lawford (rhythm construction). The band was formed soon after Murphy and Karn left their former bands (Bauhaus and Japan, respectively). They took their name from a Captain Beefheart song from his album, Trout Mask Replica.[1] Initially, they recorded one album, The Waking Hour (UK No. 84), and released one single, "The Judgement is the Mirror" (UK No. 66). The cover of the album features a detail from Maxfield Parrish's seminal painting Daybreak.

The recording of the album took place in unusual circumstances, as neither Karn nor Murphy spent much time together in the recording studio, preferring to send tapes back and forth between each other, to work on alone.

In August 2010, Peter Murphy announced on Twitter that he and Karn were planning to head into the studio in September to begin work on the second Dalis Car album.[2] The project was cut short, however, as Karn had recently been diagnosed with cancer. He died on 4 January 2011, thus ending the reunion.[3] The tracks they did record—including a re-working of Artemis from The Waking Hour with newly added vocals, guitar, and drums, and renamed Artemis Rise—were released on 5 April 2012 as an EP entitled InGladAloneness.[4] The tracks were mixed by Steve Jansen, mastered by Pieter Snaper in Istanbul and the artwork for the EP was

Royal Bank of Scotland announced in October 2005 that it would consolidate its North American headquarters in downtown Stamford and build the largest trading floor in North America (the current largest trading floor is in the UBS building across the street from where the new building is under construction). In addition, many specialized hedge funds, asset managers and trading houses are localized in and around the city.

Structure

Telomeres are specialized protein-DNA constructs present at the ends of eukaryotic chromosomes, which prevent them from degradation and end-to-end chromosomal fusion. Introductory biology courses often describe telomere as a type of chromosomal aglet. Most vertebrate telomeric DNA consists of long (TTAGGG)n repeats of variable length, often around 3-20kb.Subtelomeres are segments of DNA between telomeric caps and chromatin. Therefore, each chromosome has two subtelomere which are immediately adjacent to the long (TTAGGG)n repeats and also contain repetitive stretches of DNA. Subtelomeres are considered to be the most distal (farthest from the centromere) region of unique DNA on a chromosome. This is a complex and dynamic system which is not yet fully understood. From a structural approach, the constitutive elements of the subtelomeric region of a chromosome are nucleotide sequences of different nature, mostly repetitive stretches of DNA (Subtelomeric Repeats, Srpts) :

The government of Czechoslovakia under communism was in theory a democratic one directed by the proletariat. In practice, it was a one-party dictatorship run by the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia, the KSC.

In the 1970s and 1980s the government structure was based on the amended 1960 Constitution of Czechoslovakia, which identified the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic as a federative state of two equal fraternal nations. The Constitution stipulated the creation of separate government structures for the Czech Socialist Republic, located in Prague, and the Slovak Socialist Republic, situated in Bratislava. These republic governments shared responsibility with the federal government in areas such as planning, finance, currency, price control, agriculture and food, transportation, labor, wages, social policy, and the media. The central government, located in Prague, had exclusive jurisdiction over foreign policy, international relations, defense, federal stockpiles, federal legislation and administration, and the federal judicial system.

Government institutions in Czechoslovakia performed legislative, executive, and judicial functions. The Constitution clearly defined the responsibilities for making and implementing policy held by each branch of government In reality, however, all decisions of state were made by the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia. Government bodies existed purely to administer the party programme.

Frédéric Moncassin (Saubens, France, 26 September 1968)[1] is a French former road racing cyclist. He turned professional in 1990 and retired in 1999.

Moncassin was a strong roadman-sprinter known for his tussles with other riders in the last metres of a race. He clashed with Tom Steels and Mario Cipollini among others.[2] He won 30 races and led the Tour de France for a day in 1996. He also came close to winning the Tour of Flanders and Paris–Roubaix. Procycling said when he retired: "It was the 1998 Tour that, in hindsight, probably spelt the end for Fred. Under intense pressure to come up with a stage win, he struggled through the first week, only to see the race collapse around him as the Festina Scandal took hold. His unfashionable criticism of Richard Virenque - "he's an asshole and you can quote me," he told the French paper 'La Dépêche' at the time - allied to his own poor form, and his increasingly public concern that all cyclists were now tarred with the same brush, left him as a fringe character."[3]

His name was on the list of doping tests published by the French Senate in 24 July 2013 that were collected during the 1998 Tour de France and found suspicious for EPO when retested in 2004.[4]

Lumen Ann Pierce is a fictional character portrayed by Julia Stiles in the fifth season of the Showtime television series Dexter. Lumen is introduced in the third episode of the fifth season as a rape victim of Boyd Fowler. The character remains for the rest of the season, and leaves following the season five finale, "The Big One".

Lumen is first introduced in the third episode of the fifth season, "Practically Perfect", in which it is revealed that she was beaten and gang raped by a group of men, including Boyd Fowler. She witnesses Dexter Morgan kill Fowler, thus becoming a key player in Dexter's life. Dexter rescues her, but initially thinks he has no choice but to kill her in order to eliminate a witness. He eventually decides to spare her life, however. Lumen asks Dexter to help her seek revenge against her abusers, but he initially refuses. After Lumen continues on her own and targets the wrong suspect, Dexter teaches her the importance of knowing a person is guilty before killing him. He entreats her to leave Miami; she agrees at first, but decides to stay after a pat-down at the airport brings back memories of her abuse. She goes out on her own and shoots one of her attackers, but panics not knowing what to do with his body; she calls Dexter, who reluctantly helps her to cover up the murder. That night, she tells him that killing the man brought her a sense of peace that she knows will not last; she believes she will have to kill all of her attackers to get over her abuse for good. The small Indian civet (Viverricula indica) is a civet found in South and Southeast Asia. It is listed as Least Concern by IUCN because of its widespread geographical distribution, widespread habitat use and healthy populations living in agricultural and secondary landscapes of many range states.[1]

The small Indian civet is a monotypic genus.[2]

Characteristics

The small Indian civet is 21 to 23 in (53 to 58 cm) in head and body size and has a rather coarse fur that is brownish grey to pale yellowish brown, with usually several longitudinal black or brown bands on the back and longitudinal rows of spots on the sides. In some specimens both lines and spots are indistinct, and the dorsal bands are occasionally wanting. Usually there are five or six distinct bands on the back and four or five rows of spots on each side. The neck markings are rather variable. Generally there are two dark stripes from behind the ear to the shoulders, and often a third in front, crossing the throat. The underfur is brown or grey, often grey on the upper parts of the body and brown on the lowe

Wayne Lee Twitchell (March 10, 1948 – September 16, 2010) was an American right-handed pitcher who spent ten seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) with the Milwaukee Brewers (1970), Philadelphia Phillies (1971–1977), Montreal Expos (1977–1978), New York Mets (1979) and Seattle Mariners (1979).

Twitchell was an All-Star in 1973 for the last place Phillies when he had a 2.50 ERA, good for 3rd in the league. In the All-Star game, he pitched one scoreless inning. Twitchell was also noted for giving up the home run that got Hank Aaron into 2nd place all-time (649). He attended Wilson High School in Portland, Oregon, the same high school as Dale Murphy. Twitchell was inducted into the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame in 2006.

His career record was 48–65 in 282 games (133 starts). He had a 3.98 ERA with 1063 innings pitched.

Wayne Twitchell died on September 16, 2010 after a battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife and two sons.
