You have the shittiest 14 year old taste if that's your first pic. Just stop breathing
Neo Geo Pocket Evangelion
Ghost in the Shell, Kino's Journey, Darker Than Black, Rozen Maiden, Hellsing Ultimate, Gurren Lagann, get some taste.
My bad-taste ones are Mnemosyne and Elfen Lied.
Kill la Kill is so over rated it's not even funny. It's definitely worth a watch, but it's not as good as everyone says. Gurren Lagann is better, anyway.
only if they were fucking faster with the goddamn plot, who the fuck cares about dresarossa, Doflamingo is a weak-ass punk, just rape his butt already and move onto the new world, we want more fucking action, and less shitty never-ending boring isles
Despite what it was trying to do by showing the inhumanity of humans, the mountains of violence takes away from it. It honestly should have focused more on their persecution and experimentation.
Shonen Jump mangaka are pretty much pressed to go full retard on their work for maximum commercialization. It just ruins otherwise good ideas.
Naruto, a ninja militia group against other ninjas. Cheesy but a good idea and a solid world. RUINED.
DB/Z, Journey to the West homage with more martial arts and ki fuckery. Dragged on for entire seasons longer than it needed.
Bleach, a guy who can see ghosts and hunts soul-eating monsters. Power scale and cast gets out of fucking hand.
Shaman Ki- nevermind Shaman King was good, so was YYH.
Blame the publishers, not the writer. Being a mangaka is a pretty tedious and thankless job.
Shonen jump is absolute garbage tier. Alot of mainstreams animes are amazing I.e full meta, code geass, cowboy bepop. but Those particular animes are for peasants and children
Oh my! I better start watching MATURE anime for MATURE people such as myself! I better put on the big boy pants and watch some moeshit about little girls doing cute things when in truth I'm googling all the references to make myself look like a proper Japanologist.
And mainstream? Bitch I was pretty much the original fan of Franken Fran, and I followed Kojika for its entire run from the translation of chapter 3, and I've read all of Hitomaru's Gensou Seibutsu Zukan works. Now, name all of your non-mainstream works.
Kids on the Slope, Dennou Coil, Samurai Champloo, Mardok Scramble, Fighting Spirit, Read or Die
Get on that level, bitches
I didn't even see the rest of it until you mentioned it. I caught Gundam Seed and just went straight for that.
>Not shamelessly enjoying shitty shonen
Step it up nigga
It's like enjoying DarksydePhil. When he's not being a little bitch he's a decent enough guy to watch. Then he gets all fannyrashed over a bit of difficulty. I've only seen him get upset over one design flaw.
Welcome to the NHK
GOD DAMN! ANOTHER ANIME BAIT THREAD! TOO SOON....oh well, let's do this.
Spice & Wolf
>No Game No Life (inb4 bait, it was good, come on)
Strike the Blood
Shingeki no Kyojin
Nurarihyon no Mago (maybe)
Fucking NHK, man
I thought it was gonna be a comedy
In many ways it was but, damn the final episodes were sad.
What are you even talking about? The guy just gave a generic criticism that Gurren Lagann was shit, and that it is furthermore only on your "favorites" lists due to its inexplicable popularity and, therefore, accessibility.
The six shows you listed are some of the post popular ever created; works of historical significance, one of the the highest selling action shounen, and even shit linked with early internet memes. They're not inherently bad, but it's the equivalent of claiming your favorite movies are Fight Club and Inception, and justifying it since you also watched Christmas with the Kranks to fill some bogus obscure quota.
The latest one is kinda good or so i heard, personally i haven't seen it
>only on your "favorites" lists due to its inexplicable popularity and, therefore, accessibility.
That's funny... I remember watching it because... what was it... they had those things they had in Big O and Giant Robo... fuck I can't remember.
Hey, I'm I never said anything about the series, but making out about that some anon disliked it is inherently elitist by default and going on to retaliate against cute girls is entirely left field. I just scrolled through the thread, saw this huge pile of WORDS and thought I'd point out why they annoyed me
Well apparently they are more frequent in XY
Also there's a mega-evo special
I liked higurashi, I thought it was great tier.
I dont really watch anime but i very much sora no otoshimono and arakawa under the bridge. And katawa shoujo had me feeling for weeks. But not really related.
Patlabor TV series
Darker Than Black
Ghost in the Shell
Kyoukai no Kanata
Spice and Wolf
Honey and Clover
Get on my level
Nobody else is here and I'm lonely
Shion is best higurashi
I've never seen Lain though
SAO, Code Geass, Deathnote and AOT, any other choices are purely incorrect.
>katawa shoujo had me feeling for weeks
The mods here generally frown on KS discussion, but whatever. KS is a fairly entry-level VN, TBH.
Sage for off-topic and not attracting attention.
Oh? I thought it was bretty good. Could you recommend me some other ones?
Finally caved and watched everything so far. It was so fucking good.
hdchchdbskcbdkdksjsk d hdjd
They're all pretty well known though, and most are considered required viewing anyway. You're missing a lot of similar post-2008 works, but anyone on /a/ at least will have already watched all those years ago.
"Entry-level" doesn't necessarily mean "bad" (though literally everyone who has played VN's seems to have started with that one). It's not bad but there's way better.
Here's a list of things I recommend, from personal experience:
>Muv-Luv and Muv-Luv Alternative
>Grisaia no Kajitsu
>Yosuga no Sora (if you like incest, be warned that the game is not fully translated yet)
>Yume Miru Kusuri
Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, FLCL, Hellsing Ultimate, Irresponsible Captain Tylor -and I'm going to go ahead and add Attack on Titan to god tier.
Films: Spirited Away, Tokyo Godfather, Howl's Moving Castle, The Wind Rises
Honorable Mentions- Samurai Champloo, Wolf's Rain, Porco Rosso, The Girl who Leapt through Time, 5 CM per Second, My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's motherfucking Delivery Service.
If you dont agree, you're wrong.
in your heart. Idk why I didn't put it. main reason is that stardust crusaders has been a little disappointing lately and its not like I can just put everything
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
Kino no Tabi
Serial Experiments Lain
Armored Trooper Votoms
Future Boy Conan
Sailor Moon S
Yuu Yuu Hakusho
The Big O
Shin Mazinger Shougeki Z-Hen
Cutie Honey Flash
almost every Getter Robo
Ping Pong the Animation
Bounen no Xamdou
Suisei no Gargantia
had to try to avoid listing films and manga and limit it to just series for brevity here so cut me some slack
probably missing a few that don't spring to mind right away
like Moyashimon? that one was pretty good. So's Yakitate Japan.
and I didn't even list Akagi? like wtf
too many shows
Did anyone here enjoy Hyouka? I'm just trying to gauge its accessibility given /b/ reflects the general public surprisingly well.
Thanks! Ill be checking those out. Im more of a gamer than an anime watcher so seeing some thing with elements of those is pretty cool.
Baka to Test
Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch
Full Metal Panic!
High School of the Dead
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
Kara no Kyoukai
NHK ni Youkoso!
Sora no Otoshimono
Bebob does have its faults, and I would have enojyed it much more if a a stronger overarching storyline existed beyond Spike's backstory. It did popularize anime in the west, so it's not exactly surprising to see it appears in every "best anime" list written on this side of the globe, but I can understand how someone could be pissey that it receives so much attention.
>doesn't know what jojo is
Yeah, no. Get the fuck out.
ok you're in for a ride my friend
it's basically a series where each arc features a completely different character in a different time/universe, each somehow related to the last
also their names are all shortened to JoJo
most of the anime revolves around the curse of Dio, the original Jojo's step brother
so basically each JoJo does really, really manly things involving sunlight power, extremely fast punches, and a corporeal manifestation of your soul
but they're also /fabulous/ you see.
it's actually kind of hard to describe, so i'd advise you to start watching Stardust Crusaders, the newer version, then go backwards in time
and then read the manga
Probably just that its Stardust Crusaders. The pacing really sort of drags on around the middle part of SC when the plot progression is so classic and typical of that sort of gather friends and go on this important quest sort of story thats thousands of years old. When SC was fresh it was fine because stands were such a novel idea, being a badguy of the week sort of thing didn't harm it at all, but when you compare it to the originality and simply unusual and bizarre construction that's present in the later arcs that feature stands, SC just doesn't age well.
Or in other words its not really that anything in SC is bad, its just that Diamond is Unbreakable and Vento Aureo and Steel Ball Run are -too good-.
The first two parts arcs don't have this problem because they're basically perfect and pretty much timeless.
this is the god tier anime thread not the I'm addicted to this japanese shit and must have more of my fix every single year and must devour everything thats in any way palatable
not the rebuilds tho
Durarara was just a generic action series, though, while something like 4½ Tatami Galaxy fits closer with Kemonozume. It's a little strange to see Kyoukai on there considering it's modern Kyoani out of nowhere.
if you're 14, then you can watch Beck and Escaflowne and Witch Hunter Robin after and feel good about your enlightened preferences or something.
once you're like 20 you can probably just skip it.
Slam Dunk is Better
Sakurasou Pet na Kanojo
Both discusses natural talent vs hard work or some shit like that.
>All these faggots not saying Monster
Only animu I could get my dad to watch.
well you have to look at the air times. At least it wasn't like Tokyo ghoul where they censor fucking everything.
The characters are great! The relationships are incredible. Character development is lean in most cases and each character fits snugly inside the world as a puzzle piece within a greater picture.
From Rei to Kensuke, I'd say the characters are very apt for their purpose. But the relationships are even better. Shinji and his father are beyond fascinating. Even if Shinji's constant self-victimization is the lowest point of the anime, even it serves a purpose. Because in the moments that he conquers it he and his eva are beyond badass which is in keeping with the series' general theme of transcendentalism and the confines of self projection.
Fly me to the moon.
Am I the only one who thinks Gons recovery was a mega fucking asspull? I mean seriously.
the time where he blows his arm off in the most badass way possible or the other time when he loses his arm
if he loses his arm a third time you can actually shut the fuck up for criticizing the way imaginary superpowers work in this beautiful manga
Welcome to the NHK, Gurren Lagann, Nichijou, The Tatami Galaxy and FLCL are all my shit.
Show him To Love Ru Darkness
Who says someone can't like both? My favorite anime is Lain yet I still have fun and watch monogatari or Yuru Yuri.
No his more recent recovery. Its already happened in the manga so if you're an animeonlyfag then you haven't seen it yet I guess. But Gon is now A-OK without any consequences.
Towa No Quon was amazing and also
its very good but its gets old
they reuse the same techniques
Nichijou lost its appeal for me pretty early on going into it. The only reason I kept watching was for Nano. Especially that scene with the flying airship and the princess. Damn that dragged on.
I'd have to agree that it got pretty stale during the last 40ish episodes for me.
Still my favorite series though.
>the movie could have been better...
Nobody ever mentions this masterpiece. Fucking watch it.
Yu yu hakosho
Couldn't upload gif because too large
past the first couple of arcs, thery were pretty damn good
esp the one with this chick
Kill la Kill is my guilty pleasure anime
God Tier Animes;
>Serial Experiments Lain
>Code Geass (inb4 shit tier)
reason I got into anime
Shit I didn't finish my first post. About Jormungand I mean. I was planning to watch it but it looked pretty boring to be honest. I'm just going off of the OP here though. I was tempted to torrent it yesterday but just opted out with kyousougiga and the second CCS movie. Is it worth giving a shot?
>Sword Art Online
>Shingeki no Kyojin
best girl for sure, that throwing knife scene is fucking hilarious everytime I watch it.
Subs 4 Lyfe
>Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
Is there a version of this thing that's 240p+?
Man that shit's great, Kuwabara is the manliest character in mostly believable circumstances.
there are some relatively minor consequences
it pretty much hit the reset button on his nen abilities so he'll probably get to make up new ones whenever this zodiac shit stops happening
nen abilities are kind of ridiculous to begin with, they're more like stands than FMA alchemy, I don't know why your expecting some sort of equivalent exchange shit to happen here
All god tier and you mean Kimba the white lion.
Deathnote - No explanation necessary.
Ghost in The Shell- guns, cyborgs and tits. Win.
FMA (Brotherhood) - Creative as fuck, deep character development and doesn't drag on forever.
Pokemon - Fuck everyone, Pokemon is love, Pokemon is life.
No Game No Life - Too much nudity and shit, but the story is still engaging as hell. Creatively, it's beyond many similar animes.
People are posting the most current "popular" stuff claiming it as God tier, but let's be honest Attack on Titan was "good" at best. The main characters are annoying as fuck and the plot is kinda shit. Jojo's Bizarre Adventure couldn't get me interested by episode 3 so I assume it's the same garbage all throughout. Sword Art Online is creative and visually everything a gamer could ask for, but the way each arc has ended is sorta bogus.
I remember watching this on tv as a kid. Still watch clips of it every now and then.
You must have watched Attack on Titan Dubbed. The original cast never once struck me as annoying. I had low hopes, and I couldn't stop watching. So now I'm a believer. Then again, I love anime with real consequences, which many simply don't have. Typically the newer it is the shallower it's likely to be. Can't comment on Jojo.
Neon Genesis Evangelion, End of Evangelion and Evangelion movies
Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi
Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei and sequels
Ookami to Koushinryou
Toaru Majutsu no Index
Bakemonogatari and sequels/prequels etc.
Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica and 3rd movie
Shingeki no Kyojin (inb4 haters)
Kill la Kill (inb4 haters)
No Game No Life (inb4 haters)
Hatsu Inu the Animation
Detroit Metal City
Yondemasu yo, Azazel-san.
How about Lupin the third?
>OP accidently his own rules
>probably on purpose to get responses
>and is still a faggot.
In addition to NGE and >>Picrelated:
Darker than Black
Good Ghibli (Porco Rosso, Princess Monenoke, etc)
Voices of a distant star
5 wallpapers per second
>This is obviously only of shit that I've seen, I've heard good things and play to watch other shit, but his is just what I have gotten through, and both subjectively liked and objectively think are good.
Rebuild is ok, it's even really good, but NGE exists and just sort of make sit look like shonen shit. If we ever get proof of the cyclical timeline theory though.....
Muh mad negro scienctists
We can share in the intellectual experience that is Dr. Pepper.
I am your lord and master.
*plan to watch
*makes it look
Grab it by the neck, tie let someone get a rope and tie it to a post!
WTF is so hard about that?
When i was younger i watched an anime with my father that was pretty bad ass, cant remember the name and have been looking for years, the main protagonist has a metal stick that harnesses wind, and is a master of drunken fist, it was centered around different everyday objects called (insert japanese name) that controlled different forces of nature like elements and gravity, the main dude dressed like a monk and fished without bait, anyone know it?
I get bitched at for not watching this because I don't like mech shit.. whatever, haters.
Yes they are. Did your forget about those giant robots?
this squinty eyed cracka is right
its tiem to stop enjoying things
>ladies contain your orgasms
It's not as fun as you might think
i fuckin love you for mentioning fist of the north star
nobody remembers this
in none of these threads have i seen someone mention it until now
And Champloo was pretty excelent, but saying it had the best music in anime is incomplete if not incorrect. Especially when you've said you haven't watched Eva. Try watching Katanagatari if you haven't already. It's not really anything like Champloo, but it takes place in a somewhat similar setting and involves samurai, with an orgasmic soundtrack.
Implying spoilers have ever actually made anything good less enjoyable.
But it's not a mech, it's a electronically interfaced angel clone spliced with shinji's mother's DNA and soul.
the biggest problem would be my paranoia after I did it. I would think I was gonna get caught. I am not as perfect as you.
>thinking youre the only one
Hueee don't worry about getting taught, and you're perfect...not me..
Oh shit, you took a screen-cap of a website's page about evangelion and it has a mecha genre listing for evangelion. You sure got me.
Who (that isn't retarded) actually cares about genre anyway? why not just watch whatever and if it's good it's good?
You know just how to spoil me. I have missed you. Bye
D-don't miss me..it makes me all blushy and spagetti .///////////////.
Best anime I've seen in a while. Really puts you in feels mode after it's over.
Well I think the issue is that it gets grouped in with mecha (which people turn their nose up at because Gundam and Code Gayass) when it shouldn't be because it's completely different and just happens to have "mechs".
Mecha also sort of carries a lot of shonen staples with it.
that is the worst anime ever. Attack on titan is stupid whiny bitches staring at there friends getting eaten. Armin ruined the anime, even though it would still be pretty awful without him, find real anime weeaboo. Gurren lagan, trigun, Jyu Oh Sie, desert punk for keks
I don't like giant robot fight scenes, never watched gurren laggan or whatever either. I can have my own preferences, eat a dick.
>mfw animefags havent realized manga is the superior medium.
Well somebody has to do something.
I didn't think season 3 would be made. But now that I think about it, they did leave some things unfinished.
OP, at least try to give a god tier anime
Ghost in the Shell, samurai champloo, rurouni kenshin, trigun, darker than black, hellsing ultimate, black lagoon and akira.
In no particular order
