What happened to society anon? Where did we all go wrong?
Just because we stare at a screen instead of paper doesn't mean things were better before.
I mean like.. do you actually want to talk to people? They're as dumb now as they were back then, as a whole.
They are learning of the events around them
The phone is them trying to BE that event.
>>LOOK AT MY VACATION PHOTOS ON FACEBOOK
>>OH MY GOD WAITING IN LINE AT WALMART ON TWITTER
One is trying to educate themselves, the other is a plea for attention.
Look over the shoulder of someone on their phone in the bus or subway....... they are on Twtter or Facebook, not reading something relevant
nothing, people have never been better than this. You are making yourself feel better without doing any work.
By complaining the world has gone to shit, you are implying you are seperate from this. You are implying you have, through some means, transcended this decline and are looking down at it, shaking your head.
You are not better than people because the walk with their phones out.
Go lift weights and make money. Be proud by making yourself great, not by convincing yourself the world sucks. It is what it is and there is no great decline.
You imply that the people in the photos I posted are reading about current events. I understand that as a 12 year old, you haven't actually seen a physical newspaper. Get this, more than half of a regular newspaper is filled with crap. You may as well read twitter.
>no concept of IDs
Shut the hell up samefag
Jesus christ, kill yourself immediately
We are in a transitional point. It is a product of rapid growth and technological advance. Relax, we'll hit a cap in about a decade or two, and things will stay pretty steady for another thousand years.
>dubstep is what nikola tesla was waiting for
>implying that technology is evil
>implying youre not a neckbeard who spends all his time on /b/ being a LEET LIBERTARIAN
>mfw you voted for ron paul
pic related, its you
Oh shit, sounds like we touched a nerve.
Literally everything is wrong with being Jewish.
Yes, that's exactly what I think.
"OH NO PEOPLE TEXT EACH OTHER INSTEAD OF CALLING NOW OH HOW HORRIBLE WHERE IS SOCIETY." How about you go fuck yourself. I mean literally, find something cylindrical and ram it up your anus. People like you are the new bitter grandpas of our generation, who sit in brown wallpaper rooms with their fucking hifi, telling anyone who will listen about how much better shit used to be. Fuck the fuck off. If you want to sit in parks or read newspapers or drive standard transmission or whatever the fuck people like you do "because otherwise it's the death of society", be my guest, but don't act fucking condescending to those who text, gets their news from the internet, and drive automatic. We are not zombies, we are not killing civilization. And by the way, before you go and claim people are "dependent on technology", do me a favor and smash every lightbulb in your fucking house. God knows hypocrisy is bad.
bitch, ill report the shit out of you
started when the internet got commercialy intersting. followed by older people missing the trend and letting the web ruled by a young gernation without disciplin. continuing with the followed youth trend and older people following it. never before the opinions of people under 25 matterd till the uprise of social media like myspace and facebook.
there is like no solution to this because it's way too late to live without social media. and you can't start to forbid it now.
I was, kinda, but now I'm happy. Because, when faced with a coherent argument against your ideological position, you resort to stale memetic 4channery. You're worse than your original picture or anyone like it.
In my opinion, technology is conformed to the existing economic, cultural, and political institutions.
So, cell phones, although they have the potential to be a center of enlightenment, are used as sources to inculcate robotic vanity amongst the populace.
I think what is best is to first understand that whatever we as a mass society do, is morphed to maximize the profit of a select few people that have, throughout history, coercively monopolized the ownership of capital.
i hate this argument HATE IT people did not shove newspaper in thier pockets and check on it twice every 30min.. people didnt take that shit with them everywhere they went 24/7 this is people on a bus. yea sure it similar to people looking at thier cell phone on public transport but as soon as they got off the bus they put that shit away they didnt shove it up thier ass and check it every 2 min
I think the solution is to localize production so that we, the workers, finally have a say-so in the things that determine our wellbeing. Build local food gardens, water sources, learn to build shelter, beds, etc.
Is it lonely having no friends to chat with or news that impacts your life to check or any real hobbies or interests to check up on? Just sitting there on the bus, staring at graffiti?
because a newspaper doesnt update every 2 minutes.
you know what people did in those days when they walked from place to place? they fucking walked. they were literally less productive and less interactive with their environments than they are now
"Autism" is a buzzword meant to marginalize the authority of anyone that doesn't conform to existing norms and dominant narratives/perspectives.
It's meant to discredit any dangerously radical opinion.
Well, you're both kind of right. Things haven't changed, most people have always been zombies. It's just easier to see it now that we're all connected. Seriously, 80% of people are way too dumb to have opinions of their own, they only regurgitate whatever they hear in the media. The ones who control the media, control the herd and thus, the world.
lel if what you said was "dangerously radical"
all your spergy rant really said is "people want to make a lot of money and will exploit the lower classes to do so". Wow, so radical
>we, the workers
Sounds kinda commie-ish to me. But, I do agree about the individual responsibility thingy. It's what our forebears did to build our nation, or so I'm told.
You're point about 'inculcate robotic vanity among the population' is, i think, the main point. We're like this because it's propping us up emotionally. Prolly won't be long till 'A Brave New World' is upon us.
The way it's used today, it is.
"Ooohhh you don't wanna go clubbing, you want to sit at home alone and play a videogame? Well you're a little autistic, ain't'cha?"
Autism is a serious, debilitating mental disorder. It is not a synonym for people who don't watch American Idol. That's why it's a buzzword. It has basically degenerated into a synonym for "not mainstream".
nothing's wrong. things are great. people are more beautiful than ever before. crime is down. more mouths are being fed. materials are lighter, easier to produce and ship. we have greater out put with less input from our agriculture than ever before. the average person is more informed about their world and can travel to any part of it easier than ever before. there's a part of us on mars. things are fantastic.
Ok, remain apathetic so you don't do anything in real life about it. Just sit on your computer and type stupid shit.
It's dangerously radical to even mention the exploitation of the lower classes, let alone solutions to them, which is also what I proposed.
So, you're just being sarcastic without considering the whole of the idea. Which mean you really have shit authority on what I'm proposing, which is changing the system in a radical way, without involving the government or capitalists or any of that shit.
I have friends that pay more attention to pornsites and twitter than they do to people. It's fucking pathetic. One female friend in particular that is on xhamster all the fucking time, only will talk when she needs something. Fuck that bitch.
This. People who whine about petty bullshit like OP need some fucking perspective.
i dont want to forbid it too. im a technocrat. but imo this is going in the wrong direction. i think if we dont do something about the youth of today and the coming generation we will face problems like global warming. normaly you see mistakes only after they happen.
The working class definitely exists. They're are the ones who take orders from the owners of capital. Take any person that has to take an order from someone in order to live, or to live humanely, and they are pat of the working class.
My idea is to get rid of the boss system so that people can live in peace and cooperation with one another while producing what they need to whatever their desire is.
>forebearers, so I am told
Exactly, so you are told. But, in reality, "our forebears" were genocidal colonialists who created political systems that perpetuated their privilege, mainly under the power of the federal state the U.S., which they also created. I recommend you check out pic related.
I agree, though that we're moving closer towards a system where people are mainly controlled by petty pleasure rather than brute force.
Did you actually stop to look at the OP anon?
All good points you make. But at what cost? If you don't want to consider the cost as anything of value, that's fine. But at least realize there is one. It will be a far greater one in the future, imo.
>just sayin, kthx
Because it's fun, could get you women and friends, and could make you money, if it's strategic, which unfortunately it usually is.
It only gets dangerous when we build enough local power to be a a threat to the legitimacy of the state's services and their cronies, like local drug lords, pimps, hustlers, etc.
Then, we'll enter the militant phase, but only the real motherfuckers are going to be around, then.
Let me guess, your were boring in the wrong generation right? You only listen to real music like Queen?
>we're moving closer towards a system where people are mainly controlled by petty pleasure rather than brute force.
First world problems, eh?
Very interesting comment, anon. Can you explain more pls?
Do you really think we've 'lost' it? I mean what I'm looking at is a societal thing basically, isn't it? What you're mentioning seems more of a individual's heart thing.
Yah, I think your point is kinda what I'm getting at (with or w/o teh porn thing, lol).
I think one of the hidden effects is that we're treating more an more ppl as 'things', instead of the people they actually are.
Good point, though.
Simple things to keep a safe distance from the herd. For example, I seldom read emails on my phone, I never use it to access my bank account and I have a monthly 200 MB limit that forces me to use my 3G only when necessary.
Kids these days just stare at their phones. And what do they stare at on their phones? Themselves. It's a population of people staring in a mirror 24/7.
Nobody reads the news unless it's entertaining. Bunch of morons and zombies
Oh, I see. So that's how you marginalize yourself by limiting your exposure to it.
Does this behavior have any influence on you relative to your overall life, do you think? Like, socially or something?
Thanks for the input. I think that's part of what I get out of it, I guess. Doesn't seem much like it at any given moment, but yea.
>Kids these days
Are you my father?
HAH! You can't make me rule teh universe with you!1
I see. Also, do you think you'll keep that sort of approach up long, or do you think you'll start becoming more 'traditional' and using your phone, etc. more? I feel naked if I don't have some tech nearby and in use, almost.
Yep. But what about sunlight? Won't we have solar cells errywhere when it all goes down?
