Ask a peon who works for the related pic anything. I have a wee bit of interesting knowledge, not anything earth shattering.
What, in general, are you knowledgeable about in Marvel Studios.
I'm an assistant to a certain individual. I do a variety of things.
Small tidbits, I knew about the hiring of the Dr Strange director two weeks ago after he had a meeting here. I knew about Bradley Cooper as Rocket before it was public knowledge. Seen two versions of the GotG script.
>Who are you assistant to, if not a name then at least a profession?
>Do you know the names of any actors officially being looked at by Marvel to play Dr. Strange?
>Aside from Dr. Strange and Ant-Man, what other films are likely to be included in Phase 3 or Phase 4?
WHEN THE FUCK IS THE GODDAMN DEADPOOL COMING OUT GODDAMN FUCK
I KNOW ITS NOT GONNA BE THE EDGY HUMOR THE FIRST SERIES WAS GREAT AT, ITS GONNA BE THE LELMESORANDOMINTERNET MAYMAYS BHUT I STILL NEED IT
Ryan Reynolds is perfect and funny. He has the dark look I'd imagine real Wade Wilson has. But they completely fucked the canon up in the movie. He's been fucked up far before (Scars on his whole body) even messing with mutants. But in that movie miraculously hes fine. Hell house better be in it. That's all I'm saying.
When Sony is done with him, no real knowledge of those situations, sorry.
The big thing is the Netflix series, that's where most of our attention has focused after Guardians was finished.
Whatever makes you feel better, believe it.
Downey. Always Downey. The mood changes, it becomes electrical, it's just an all around good time. You really feel his presence, he's a great guy. Wouldn't know me if I fell on him probably.
That's FOX, not us.
The thing with Reynolds is that he either puts on a God-tier performance and wins the whole movie, or he fucks it up and makes it unwatchable, like in Green Lantern.
I do agree that they already fucked it up, but it would be difficult to justify spending millions on an A-lister just to bag his face for an entire production. I also agree on hell house, it is a must.
Well we'll never be seeing that.
Marvel could make so much money if they didn't split their shit and sell out. Spiderman has to be raking in the mucho moneys and sony is reaping it all.
>Personal least favourite of the MCU films? Reasons why the dislike/insider knowledge of said film/s?
Actually, they have been trying to get the rights to these guys back for a while. If Marvel and Fox play nice and everything goes as planned, I hear Spiderman may make an appearance in the third Avengers. Also, Quicksilver and Scarlet witch were allowed to be used in the Marvel Studios universe specifically because they are NOT referred to as Magneto's kids or mutants.
>not understanding that x-men copyrights are to fox instead of disney/marvel.
>En sabah nur btw.
what's the situation with ant-man? any info of why edgar wright left?
I love that GotG is making a good impact on people, though I meant:
> Your least favourite of the MCU films out there currently
Sorry. I like them all, but the weakest to me was probably the first Thor, I still liked it, though.
Norton was angling for more power in the Marvel Studios, big star/little studio thing. When Marvel cut 10 minutes from Incredible Hulk he refused to promote it, arguably costing the studio up to 20% in movie going revenue. He really wanted to be Hulk in Avengers, but after Disney bought us, they asked the question to the Studio execs "Do you really want to risk it?" the answer was "no.". Mr. Norton kinda fucked himself.
Of course you are.
Way wrong company and Ryan Reynolds sex life is none of my business.
Well, FOX seems to hate everyone, Sony and Disney/us have a wonderful relationship, but Fiege insists Spidey can stand on his own, although the Oscorp tower in the Avengers ALMOST happened and only did not due to budget constraints.
So...Johnny Depp is going to be Dr. Strange, right?
interesting. budget constraints took it out? i had heard it was due to a last second dispute, but due to film knowledge, what you said makes a lot more sense, actually... interesting. know of any plans to film near detroit ever? also, did you get to work with Evans both as Captain America and Jhonny Storm?
Director chosen, active meetings with leads. Here's the biggest possible inside info I have, Cumberbatch was at the studios in direct relation to the Strange film. I also saw David Tennant's name on some significant inner-office papers related to Strange.
Anybody with a brain knows that Terrence Howard wanted a huge paycheck upfront...and was an asshole about it too.
But RDJ waived a hefty start-up paycheck and opted for a sizable % of the movie gross profits instead.
Wow. Downey took the secondary salary because he was uninsurable at the time and he knew this was the role that would fix everything. It was smart on both their behalves and I promise you Mr. Downey doesn't view it as you do.
Nothing immediate, I've not seen Detroit's name in association with either upcoming movie or Netflix stuff, BUT I seldom am aware of locations, they are not what we primarily deal with.
Also, I've met Chris Evans during the Avengers shoot, but never during F4 as that was FOX as well. We worked hard on him for the role of Cap.
Avengers 3 or a possible different brand involving the Avengers and others.
That's the idea, the infinity gauntlet will be the plot device that does so, but this is fairly common assumption.
very cool. where are you at? like, did you work at the main office for marvel, do you travel on location, etc.? i helped make an amateur batman flick with my buddy (not posting because, sadly, im not incredibly proud of it) and i am making another this summer, which i have a LOT more control in, so the quality will be way better. based on the things you've seen, do you have any tips to making a successful indie fan film? working on movies is kind of the dream, so any advice would be highly appreciated.
Has there been any talk about including She-Hulk or Miss Marvel in the future?
I'm assuming the plot hasn't been discussed, but if Cumberbatch was at the studios, and Tennant's name was on papers, my personal prediction is Tennant will take the role of Strange, Cumberbatch will play Dormammu
Also, question for you, Are there plans to fix The Mandarin fuck up in Iron Man 3? Yes I saw the "All Hail the King" short, I want to know if they'll follow that up
my interest was raised in studios trading lead actors. seen Reynolds in a bunch of stuff since blade 3 and seems to have done his job. could you touch on those points about the marvel knights series?
I interned for a little under a year when my boss hired me directly as their personal assistant.
I've been on set of Avengers, Cap 2, Iron Man 2,3, Thor 2, Guardians, and Avengers 2, but it is not a common requirement for my job. I've been in the studios they SHIELD in more than anything else.
No real advice on fan films, sorry. I'm not in on the technical and artisan side of things as much as the "get it done" behind the scenes side. Contracts and script approvement and possible hires and such.
Who do you think would be the best "face" for the Marvel Studios brand:
1) Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man)
2) Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury)
3) Clark Gregg (Agent Phil Coulson)
4) **any dark horse candidate of your choice**
...and briefly tell us why.
when are they going to do me justice in my movies? If you are lying, you will feel the pain on my penance stare!
Several possibilities, but the primary reason is it is all Chris would agree to at that time. As for Civil War? It has been talked about and seen some memos mention it by name, so...you are talking a bit of time, though.
Carol Danvers is in Avengers 2, that's all to be said about that. She-hulk is mentioned very much in passing, but the biggest chance for her is in the second phase of the Netflix plan.
Every other month something gets floated and ends up in the ethereal. My guess is eventually, but that's just a guess.
but I'm a /b/tard
I like your line of thought, I have no hard info on who is playing what yet, they could both be up for the same part, but I have yet to see Mr. Tennant.
The Mandarin is not considered a fuck up, it tests well with non-canonical fans, and there is a possibility he will show up again, about a 60% chance, in another follow up, though probably not a movie.
Not sure what you are asking?
Hells yes. I saw one cool animatic being floated.
Downey IS the face of Marvel for now. I don't know of anyone better. If my boss were to answer this, the answer would be it's an ensemble. No eggs in one basket sorta thing.
No talk of you at all.
There are ideas about Planet Hulk, but that's not even in the serious consideration stage.
Not even in the beginning stages of a possible Cap death. Cap is 90% likely to survive till Avengers 3.
Okay then, In regards to The Mandarin, the "All Hail the King" short made the implication that though Ben Kingsley's character was certainly not The Mandarin, The Mandarin was very much real, very much in charge of The Ten Rings, and very pissed off. TL;DR, Are we going to see the real Mandarin, and if so, will we actually have ten magic rings with said Mandarin?
Fucking awesome. I dunno why, but I really got into the Nova stuff more than most other things for a while.
Different note: Aside from Cumberbatch and Tennant, have you heard any other names for Doctor Strange?
Not hard, just a bit of creative effort, really. And no, while we wouldn't let a reasonable chance place there is no behind the scenes fights for the rights going on that I've heard of, and I'd more than likely have heard.
You are telling the truth.......Innocent.
I understand, I saw it. And as I said, probably not in the movies for the near future. But there are other venues.
It may not have anything to do with Dr. Strange, but for whatever reason I really FEEL as though it does, though i have NO evidence, but Katy Perry has visited. Again, probably nothing to do with any movie part, but I just had the feeling...
I half wanna call bullshit. Last I heard Bucky is signed for longer than Chris Evans. Plus the newest marvel movies have a tendency to follow comics closely, and Steve ends up shot by Crossbones on the courthouse steps. This event inspires Bucky to take over.
Not even a consideration on whether a project goes forward.
Where's my money you fucker?
I'm aware of that, and the comics are just used as suggestions for possible directions. Bucky is signed for longer than Cap. There are NO solid pieces of evidence that Cap is going to die in Cap 3. He will probably be around till Avengers 3.
Direct connections to Avengers.
Movies. Possibly him and Widow in a spin-off. Possibly his years being used, a period piece during the cold war. Both ideas have been floated.
You are close to a Strange announcement about the lead actor. About a month? possibly around the time Guardians hits?
Just saying, she was there, I assumed it had something to do with Strange.
That's the idea, though you will NOT see any x-men or f4. Spidey is a long shot, but possible, depends on Fiege and Sony.
Can you get me a job? I just finished a 3D/VFX course and no one is hiring anyone with less than 5 years experience
That's close to Warners overall attitude.
Covered both, and I didn't think that was such a big secret. Big announcements are fairly frequent throughout each year.
DC specific, no. Warners yes but only for soundstage use, or possible conflicts, standard stuff.
I'm sorry for the aggressiveness about it, I just have a hard-on for the New Avengers.
Any chance we see Nova, Spidey, Luke Cage, and that white tiger chick in a movie anytime soon? Once you get spidey from Sony, of course.
No. There is always talk of what to do when Mr. Downey says goodbye, though. The Iron Man franchise will go forward even after that.
Nova will be a movie. Spidey is a Sony property so far as movies go, but the Spidey cartoon features all that, doesn't it? Spidey away from Sony will be at least 15 years, more likely 25 years from now unless Sony just really needs money, and they don't. Luke Cage is a Netflix series with Daredevil Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist who will form the Defenders and, current thinking dictates, cameo in the films.
We wish we could take credit for that.
Too early. But look for the Nova members from GotG to return.
I've spoken to no one about anything. I see and hear things, and Disney and Sony have a good working relationship.
I love comics. Read X-Men since I was 10. My boss will occasionally ask things like "Who the fuck is Ronan, again?" Meaning she knows he is an adversary for the Guardians, but asking details about his history, I told her what I knew and then wikipedia'd the details. I've prepped bios for most the Guardians, The Chitauri, The Warriors Three, Clea, The individual Infinity Gems, Warlock, just to name a handful, in the past. Also sacrificed some of my TPBs for the cause. I get an expense account though.
How wolverine die and how is revived?.
We are talking to Universal about Namor.
We seem to be uncertain as to the proper venue for runaways, but think either animated or Netflix series.
Not at all, we expect BvS to top the first Avengers at least. Good chance Transformers 4 might do it. Our biggest jab at BvS has been to pit Cap 3 against it because we know Warners will ultimately blink and we will get a headline in Variety that reads something like "Batman and Superman run from Captain America".
>Luke Cage is a Netflix series with Daredevil Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist who will form the Defenders and, current thinking dictates, cameo in the films.
I can fap to this! Cheers OP.
After casting Ben as batman, I'm at a loss. I just want to drink the poison kool-aid.
Everything is lost. You might as well cast the ceasars pizza guy as the green arrow.
Again, no. Ant-Man has a clear direction, a director is altering (or attempting to alter) his schedule for the project. CIA what now?
We feel it's gonna kick ass. It is a real success and takes things to a whole new level.
Ok...worst debate was over Kingsley's Southern Baptist accent, the director won. Ms. Paltrow never seems to be clear on what's going on. I can not answer the best win because I would lose my job over that bit of info.
Very well. Very. Very. Well. BUT- that's not indicative of much. You will see for yourself August 1st.
As best I know? Development limbo and Reynolds has lost most all cache after RIPD.
I am very happy with my income though the job is practically 24 hrs on call interrupt anything anytime.
I was in college when I started the internship, never finished because this chance is THE chance for me and I do not regret leaving college for a second. I paid off my student loans with my first year's salary.
sorry, I'm just processing the thought of meeting Ms. Huey Lewis's Daughter.
who is edging for a chance to make new spoodermovies though??
>if you cant name the studios you are a confirmed plob
i will release the name and probable director when you dont respond trolfag
I really appreciate you answering all this, man. Do we have any chance of any Spawn related stuff as I know Angela is apart of 616 universe now so I wanna if you guys have movie rights too because I love him haha
Damn. That's really what I want.
Any future plans for Cable? That would be pimp.
Cable is at FOX with his X-brothers, but I read in an article that Liefeld said there are no movie plans for Cable that he knows about, take that as you will as I don't work for FOX
Yes, they also are in the Spider-Family movie option thanks to Ultimate Spider-Man existing before the movie deal even though Miles came after. BUT there has been talks of Miles being in a different format, as a matter of fact, a great deal of chatter on that. We are unclear on Spider-Woman, meaning that a possible Quicksilver-esque deal could be arranged.
Yeah. She was stuck in the banished 10th realm or something? Anyways I guess that's understandable. Also nice to hear about ultron, that story wasn't the best. Are you guys thinking about iron man 4 since you are continuing with or without Downey or like any standalone hawkeye action? I feel like a Netflix series like his current run could be great and fit in with the street feel of the other announced guys getting series. Thanks for answering, man
Stan has the superior business sense, and I think more creative input than many give him credit for. Kirby and Dikto had most of the ideas, though, and, and this is the kicker, terrible business sense.
Yes, he probably wouldn't remember me no more than Downey would.
Iron Man 4 is not a priority until Avengers 3 is under way. Hawkeye and Black Widow have been discussed (Black Widow gets paired a lot when ideas are tossed about)
Avengers 3 is a ways off, but if he was to be in another movie, that'd be my guess.
No, he's just Stan.
Coolest rumor is Tennant as Strange. Oddly enough, Bill was mentioned in association to a possible Raccoon laced sequel, don't get too excited though.
Always talk, nothing more at this point. Cheadle likes us and we like him.
When are you guys gonna start hiring porn artists?
I'd watch that. You guys should totally make that happen.
Yeah, realllllyyyy not gonna happen. Sorry.
He's sometimes mentioned in connection with Planet Hulk. BUT again, Planet Hulk is only sometimes mentioned itself.
god I hope he ends up being Strange
I can't prove it aside from your saving the thread and seeing what I say is true. But yeah, I'm stoned and actually been somewhat okeyed doing this provided I don't give away certain secrets. It's a form of viral promotion and it is damned fun.
What the fuck? Slapstick is a real thing?.. I don't know how to feel. It seems like he's a combination of Freakazoid and the Mask.
Killian was the power behind "The Mandarin," shot fire, and had a dragon tattoo. He said he was The Mandarin, but really, he's as close as you're going to get to Fin Fang Foom.
I was going to apply for an internship in the editorial department (in New York, not with Studios) for this summer but couldn't do to it being unpaid. Was your internship really helpful for you getting your start at Marvel? Or was your prior experience doing this type of work the key?
The fact that you guys even put in a hint is exciting haha. Thanks for answering all these, I'm getting pumped & your whole viral promotion gig sounds awesome. How many sequels should we expect coming up opposed to new heroes like ant-man and strange getting movies this next movie phase?
My speculation, and it is purely speculation, would be you are more likely to encounter him in one of the Marvel Cosmic movies than in Iron Man. But still, NO real mention of him at all.
My experience and quick thinking in a particular situation made me stand out. It was part timing, part ability. Your mileage may vary.
GotG 2 is a go, even without official word we are behaving as though it's a done deal. Avengers 3, Cap 3, Thor 3. Ant-Man, Strange and Nova, The Netflix series I've mentioned, Agents of SHIELD, and one big thing I can't hint at. Of course there are other things as well, but most are speculative or blue-sky projects.
Good, you will be happily surprised.
Was the internship a good experience overall though? Would you recommend it? I don't live in New York and it'd be hard to pay for living there for a summer, but being there seems like a major step?
It paid off for me. I can name 4 people I knew personally who it didn't remotely pay off for, and more than that who some how, even if in a minor way, it benefited. I hit the intern lottery as it put me in the right place at the right time.
We ever going to get some of this dude?
That lineup is pretty solid. I figured we would see more hulk before Thor 3 but I guess people love Loki. I wanna ask about Adam Warlock or Cosmo but I don't want to get it spoiled/disappointed for gotg haha. Is strange gonna be more horror-like because of the director's background or can we expect it to feel like a traditional hero movie?
I don't remember the last time I screamed at someone. I have been screamed at.
Not for the near future.
Not a silly bit, it gets "ohs" and "ahs" at the screenings so far.
All New is My favorite, Uncanny, Wolverine, Amazing X, Does uncanny Avengers count?, Nightcrawler, X-Men.
My working theory is now star-lord's dad.
New question: do you actually think the new F4 is going to make anything? I know it's not your jurisdiction, but it looks like it's going to be utter shit.
Just reading this whole thread has been an experience in itself. Thank you based Marvel peon. You coo.
I don't know why that'd get ohs and ahs. Peter quill has a dad this isn't surprising. Ohs and ahs I presume are usually when something is revealed or are things usually readers only get (like the tesseract cube at the end of cap)
I think Nova casting would be more likely which I personally would love to see Fillion play.
The ONE time I saw Sentry's name in anything it was refered to in a character description as a "drugged out Superman" with a very comic book twist of never being remembered by his peers. Or something to that end.
This was in a standard list of available characters floated about three years ago
Sounds great, we need more cool supernatural stuff in comic movies.
I can't believe I just now thought of this, but are there still no black panther plans aside from that tiny Easter egg in IM2?
I like Fillion more for that role. Nova has always seemed to me like "pretty boy comedic super hero" and I think thats more his angle than Diesel who is more deadpan serious casting.
I go see every marvel movie in theaters on opening night. Even the ones that are stupid. (I'm looking at you, wolverine standalone's.) I don't do this with any other franchise.
Now can i hear about diesel? Lol
Don't give a shit. I just browse now and again.
That had so much potential that it somehow completely missed.
What you said. It's reading as more "It's Captain Mal" thing.
Bendis is highly regarded here. He is way fun to be around once he gets going.
Black Panther appears simpler to handle than it actually is. There is always an ember there just waiting to catch fire in the right circumstances.
Capt. Mal is not a Nova.
He is Groot. (insert evil grin here)
Its good to hear his work aside that hes a cool guy. I like a lot of Bendis' stuff he just isn't my favorite. I get scared sometimes when he takes over certain characters. His street level stuff has always been great and I regard Ult spidey as one of my favorite series.
I guess its not Nova then. Damn. I'm just more excited to see Nova on big screen I may go re-read all of early cosmic marvel.
Wait, I have a question.
Who's your favorite super hero?
You're a bastard, but on another note.
I'm going to school for music production. Generally the more computer-oriented studio side although i play everything.
Do you know if Marvel does in-house audio or if they just hire a specialist company?
It would be heaven if i could combine 2 of my favorite things for work.
tell both companies to stop sending interns to /co/, wile it does create animosity, it ruins the community by dividing us so much. Seriously, you guys just send in a few and it's like i'm on a v consolewar thread
saw the same 'development' from dc's last batman trilogy. was reading brubaker & co.gotham central stories, but ledger didn't die at end of it.
>>killed the movie for me, but still love crime noir.
Hero because he was building a lazer to fend off Galactus in Lego Marvel Superheroes?
Just kidding. Do you have any knowledge about a sequel to that game? Lego or not, that shit was fun.
More Lego stuff on the way, not sure about a direct sequel, and that's my answer as a fan of Lego, not in any official capacity because I doubt I'd know much in the merchandising side of it all. A lil but not much.
Do they ever talk long term goals like beyond Avengers 3? New avengers, recasting and revamping? Or do they plan on just running the cap,IM,Thor,Hulk thing until it just won't make any more money?
Yes, but no "New Avengers" mention. Yes, not recasting per se rather the eventuality of it. There is a plan. A very long term plan, the goal is not to milk it dry, it is to milk it well and indefinitely.
pic related. cover page of one issue in series.
