Like it or not, David is now without a doubt the single most important character across the Alien movies. He created the version of the Xenomorph we're familiar with, he created the egg and the facehugger, and he's somehow responsible for the Derelict landing on LV-426 carrying the eggs, which led to all the later Alien movies.

I honestly don't see how this is possible. The derelict they encounter on LV-426 was ancient, and David only "created" the xenomorph in 2104 AD. Alien takes place in 2122 AD. There just isn't enough time for the ship to crash and reach the fossilized condition it was found in.

I'm leaning towards the theory that the xenomorph (or I. Raptus) definitely predate David's machinations and that David managed to recreate a cousin of the xenomorph that we're familiar with. I think this is supported further by the fact that the life-cycle we were presented with in Covenant was markedly faster and distinctive from the one that exists in Alien through Alien 3 (chestbursters now occur within minutes of fertilization, chestbursters are omitted entirely in favor of fully developed, albeit miniature, xenomorphs, and the maturity cycle is unrealistically fast). If anything, the creature we see in Covenant was David's attempt to "improve" on the existing xenomorph formula, especially considering how much faster its life-cycle has become.

ok story time /b, as of right now there is a tardette poking through my art supplies and I get the urge to kill her. anyway here's how all this happened. my dad's friend's girlfriend brought her downy daughter to my house and I wasn't made aware of this. So basically I come out of my room to take a shit and my mom is like "oh there's anon!" and starts chatting it up with the lady about how great I am (I know I know), anyway the lady get's tired of watching her daughter and pops the question "hey do you think out daughters could hang out?" my mom forces me to take tardette into my room, I have named her Saltine. As of right now she's still going through my things.(PIc unrelated)
