Sup /asp/, I'm wondering if anyone here practices parkour? I've really like the idea and was wondering how you start ?
A lot of people learn from YouTube videos, but gyms have been becoming more popular recently.

>how you start ?
It doesn't matter.
There're a few fundamentals that are very good to learn, though.
>wall-up
>roll
>vaults
Not to mention the good old
>standing long jump
>long jump
>sprint

To supplement, join a judo gym and learn how to fall properly. Helped me out a ton. This parkour rolling tutorial is just a judo forward-rolling breakfall:

Falling properly is super important because when you fuck up, you don't want to get fucked up and have to miss out on training.

>This parkour rolling tutorial
I'm almost certain that that's a slap-out tutorial, not a roll tutorial.
These are roll tutorials:

Isn't a slap-out just an ideal-form roll?

A slap-out is landing with your legs, and then leaning forward to disperse the energy through your arms.
A roll is a roll, landing with your feet, using the arms to absorb some energy while guiding your body into the roll, where you disperse the energy through your shoulder and back.

Your description of a roll sounds a lot like the ukemi-style roll in that video you called a slap-out. Either one of us is missing something or there's just a miscommunication somewhere.
