>The Wrestling Observer is reporting that WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon apparently wants the upcoming WrestleMania 32 event to be the start of "several years" of Roman Reigns in the company's top spot that was formerly held by John Cena.
>According to the report, "the plan is for Reigns to go over and be the top babyface in the company for years to come."
>The overall attitude within WWE is that it doesn't really make a difference if the fans boo Reigns because, as is evident with Cena, cheers and boos aren't damaging to the babyface of a franchise such as WWE, and diverse reactions from fans can often be seen as a good thing since they can launch stars to bigger levels of business. However, it's also well known that Reigns is not as big of a star as Cena, even though his merchandise numbers are good.
based fucking vince, the roman empire will reign supreme!
the IWC neckbeards BTFO
>Vince doesn't care about who fans like or dislike
How is this news? The booking of Roman's rise to the top has just been Vince saying
"I literally couldn't care less if people like him, I'm pushing him anyway. Because...he looks cool?"
Except for that one kid that yelled "Roman you suck" right before Trips hit him with the bell.
Kids cheer for the one that looks the coolest, and that's Triple H.
I've never understood how anyone can think Roman looks cool in his tacticool gear. It looks like the most generic action figure ever.
And then Triple H comes out all pissed, wearing his awesome t-shirts and jeans, wielding a sledgehammer and a waterbottle and spits water like a fucking dragon.
Now that's cool!
maybe the trailer parks or tumblr but even tumblr doesnt like ambrose anymore.
> However, it's also well known that Reigns is not as big of a star as Cena, even though his merchandise numbers are good.
This is actually a huge problem.
It didnt matter that Cena was getting booed cause like every casual and mark loved him.
Reigns isnt even that over with normal fans.
Kill yourself Vince.
>ROMAN REIGNS STANDS TALL!!
Rinse, lather and repeat until the product dies.
See, little kids think that's cool. Triple H posing on the ring and spitting mist up in the air.
Roman is just, I dunno, he's dressed in black gear and he's tiredly fistbumping his way down aisles escorted by businessmen. Then when he's in the ring he jerks off his fist, jumps and punches, yells his stupid battle cry and spears. Not very cool gimmicks.
>>smarks liking someone because of a chant
the dwayne says hi
and the marks liked him because of the duck dynasty gimmick/look and the chant.
Look at smackdown and raw this week, the chant is over as fuck and it wasnt directed at bryan hell it was directed against hhh who it was used against during bryans run.
>even though his merchandise numbers are good.
whos buying his merch?
I've never seen a roman shirt in the crowd, tho Ive never actively looked for it and i have no clue what they look like.
But smarks have stopped watching, that's why the ratings keep going down. But Vince already said he doesn't care about ratings either.
It's not going to get any better so might as well just stop watching.
>implying someone would by a ticket to an event just for one match on the card
>just so they could boo it
I know you think smarks are retarded. But they aren't as retarded as you claim them to be,
You were saying faggot?
Fix your teeth before you post again
Wow thanks Meltz I had no idea that Vince was going to have Roman Reigns be the top guy thanks for the heads up!
>smark: ugh wow how unbelievable i'm upset and i rage as if i had no previous knowledge but i'll keep watching for those years
>anti-smark: argh how dare you say that smark i'm going to post google trends proving you wrong hahaha take that smarky!
This will happen for several more years
>>The Wrestling Observer is reporting that WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon apparently wants the upcoming WrestleMania 32 event to be the start of "several years" of Roman Reigns
Wow profound news here Dave Meltzer. I'm going to subscribe to your newsletter ASAP to get the latest scoop in the mandrama business because I had no idea they were planning on making Reigns the top guy until I just read this!
>stick with the marks
Marks are turning on Roman. For example, in one of the threads about the broken nose work there was some kid thinking it might be legit and saying that would be a good thing because it would mean Roman not headlining WM.
The only people sticking with Roman are Vince marks, and they'll ditch the guy the moment his push ends.
Standard Vince mark strategy. You can't rebut the point made, so you try to change the argument to insult trading.
Yet it's very clear that Roman is being turned on by marks. He's getting jeered by children. The third hour of last week's RAW was a big turn-off for women. The claims that anti-smarks have been making about Roman's core audience are being demolished by the evidence, and there's nothing to take their place.
It won't. Vince is a millionaire and on his way out; he cares more about his vision being put into place than anything else and he'll bury anyone who the fans like more than his paramilitary tacticool babyface
Stop watching RAW; Stop watching Smackdown. Watch good matches online after they've aired but don't support a product you don't enjoy as a whole
>and the marks liked him because of the duck dynasty gimmick/look and the chant.
Oh, look, it's THIS guy.
You are by far the most retarded poster on here, and that's including Poochador + Jewcucca.
>He can still be a face
Every time he's gotten stymied by heels (MITB cash-ins, Bray costing him MITB, HHH breaking his nose) the crowd has sided with the heel.
The longer he remains a babyface that nobody likes, the less chance there is of him EVER getting over properly.
>the delusion of an anti-smark
Bryan only reached Austin levels of popularity with the chant. Austin was there at at least three years prior. How over was Bryan before the post-Wrestlemania smark crowd decided to chant yes, and it caught on with the casual viewers? Or better yet, where was he in 2011?
There is no comparison at all. Whether or not Bryan was over or could've gotten more over, the chant was absolutely instrumental in what did happen and that is absolutely not the case for Austin.
Did you miss the part where WWE was basically attempting to force the YES! chant onto somebody else?
Bryan stopped doing it basically right after 18 Seconds and only started doing it long after his popularity skyrockted
I don't believe for a second that Ramen's merch is near Cenas. Cena gets a lot of shit and rightfully so, but Cena is gi-fucking-gantic. Normies know who he is and he's done four thousand make a wishes.
I wouldn't expect anyone who hasn't watched wrestling consistently in the last year to know who Ramen is. And by that logic, his merch is probably not remotely close to Cena'a
It was already associated with him, it really doesn't work like that and that's a pretty silly argument. I'll give him credit for doing it during his entrance, esentially creating the chant and getting it over, but it esentially grew and ended up getting him over.
To be honest I might have jumped in at the wrong point, if your side is arguing against the claim that Bryan wasn't over, which he clearly was to some degree. My point was that comparing it to the "WHAT" chants and Austin is an absurd comparison for the reasons I mentioned.
Regardless, you didn't address any of my key points.
The point is, silly, that if it was only the chant then co-opting it somebody else would've worked (it didn't) or he wouldn't have gone for the better part of a year without doing it only to get even more over.
RAW on the 22nd of February drew 4.2 million viewers in the first hour. Second hour drew 4 million. Third hour drew just 3.4 million. It wasn't just women flicking the switch, but they did so in larger numbers, despite Roman working the main event.
It's an open question as to why women stayed for the second hour but didn't want Reigns, but the anti-smark's article of faith that Reigns is super-over with the female audience is in pretty bad shape regardless.
They did it for literally every popular wrestler. They do it all the time, with or without Bryan. Even when he wasn't doing it, he was pretty much pandering to it and they were doing it because it was associated with him. They couldn't stick it on Brie because she didn't create it.
Still doesn't mean he wasn't as over as he was because of the chant.
I don't believe that you have an idetic memory of the entire year of 2013 to the extent that you can exclude all occurrences of a chant which was popular at that time. Unless, that is, you're autistic.
I'll give you one example without having to look: Raw after Wrestlemania.
