I may be killed in my sleep tonight but this needs to be said, Rick Flair is the most overrated wrestler of all time
Thanks to the current post-millennial contrarian fanbase, Flair is bizarrely coming close to being underrated these days.

he is overrated but at the same time its hard to ignore his contribution to wrestling.

Why is current WWE so bad?
Blame the goddamn Mexicans.
Think about it: there is one thing killing WWE, and that is MMA. MMA is surely scripted, hyped and sometimes even relies on pre-determined outcomes (though this is achieved through complete skills mismatches rather than co-operative fighting, eg: CM Punk).
All WWE has to do to grow a fanbase is to rediscover its worked-shoot origins.
If they turned everything into an MMA-style shoot contest, it would still work on every level. The legit badasses like Brock would remain legit badasses. The comedy elements like Elsworth would remain comedy fools who failed any time they tried to have a real fight.
Instead, WWE is chasing the luchador / tumbling clowns type of circus sideshow entertainment. They are literally turning their "superstars" into clowns. Why? Because Latinos are a growing demographic in the US and WWE wants to chase that market.
They is dumb.

Doink was the reason thousands of image-conscious young teenagers tuned out in the early 90s - before he "got good".

>Thus far, business is G-1 is also strong. At press time, every show but one, the 7/25 show in Fukushima, sold out in advance, and that show did end up being sold out. It was almost weird on 7/24 when the word was out the day before the show that there were tickets available. For a comparison with last year, four of the first even nights were legitimate sellouts and overall business based on the same period last year is up nine percent from what was considered a strong tour.
>Another amazing stat is that the Japanese language feed of opening night, which was available free, did 600,000 live views. What that shows is that in Japan, there is great interest, but the mentality of paying for a streaming service isn’t there as New Japan World only had just over 60,000 paying subscribers at that point. The WWE Network, for the same reason, hasn’t done well in the Japanese market.
