/an/, what do you think about taxidermy? Should be allowed, for example, in museums (like pic related), or should it be banned, for public and private spaces?

Who the fuck wants to ban taxidermy that's weird.

Why would it be banned?

Allowed for public and private... It's a decent hobby.

I have a fox skull at home from a taxidermist years ago and I still refer to it when i'm drawing foxes.

Why ban it? I think it's a bit unpleasant but for museums it is great. I wouldn't want a taxidermy piece in my home though.
>>
Bad taxidermy should be banned. For science.

I loved visiting the local natural museum as a kid, it was great being able to look at all these animals from so many angles.

I don't remember if they said anything about how those animals ended up there, but I guess many of them were literally from a different age (before 60s or so, before the animal rights movement became a thing). Ethical taxidermy is a weird discussion, but perhaps it is better to take your kids to a natural museum (dead animals) rather than a zoo (live captive animals).

You give no option other than only for museums or complete ban.

Taxidermy is great. Good for science, art, and education. It's just animals.

I'd love having some pieces, but I can't because my cat would almost certainly tear them apart.

I've learned so much anatomy from taxidermy specimens. Access to the specimen labs back in school helped me ace all my biology classes, and amped up my art. Taxidermy of legal species is legit.

Is this about that deer roadkill thread from earlier this month?
>>
Why? We do something similar to human bodies in science displays. Nothing wrong with preserving the dead.
