Itt: animal noises

Just imagine you're in the woods and get you just before dawn. You pack up and head out in the chilled, misty fog. You here a call, distance first. You tread on, compelled to answer it face to face. After a while of walking and listening to the rustle and bustle of morning birds, you see it. Antlers rising from a hill top and the silloutte follows, casting it's shadow from the rising sun behind. It calls again.

Sup lads, im in need of some advice from someone more knowledgable about cats than me.
My cat here recently had a nasty fall, i saw her land and heard a loud crack noise. I rushed her to the vet, got xrays done and everything, for them to tell me that nothing whatsoever is wrong.
I thought that due to the crack, she might have torn a tendon or damaged a joint, but the vets didnt really want to hear that and told me that none of her bones are broken so shes fine.
She seemed to be doing better and her limp went away almost completey, but an hour ago she came up to me, growling and limping worse than before. She must have re-injured whatever it is in her leg that was bad, and shes in pretty bad pain it seems.
What the hell can I do, and what could her injury be? I locked her in my room away from her brother with food and litter but i really want to help treat her pain.

Is three cats too many?

A kitten was found where my mom works and after a day of testing at the vet, we decided to take him in. We don't know yet if we're keeping him or just fostering.

I have always drawn the line at two. We currently have a 1 year old and a 17 year old, and a 13 year old dog, and another puppy coming in the fall.

We have the time and money for all of them to live well, but three cats just seems like a lot.

Never too many,
I work at an animal shelter.
We have 56 currently and one woman who has adopted from us has 14.
Sounds like a lot but she has a large property and all are well taken care of and vaccinated anually.
If you have the space, the funds and the heart to take another then you are welcome to do it.
>>
Three is my personal limit for cats and dogs. I have two permanent dogs and two permanent cats, and keep the third open in case I suddenly come into possession of one or the other(such as strays).

But I also live in a big house and have a large property, so.
>>
>>2447316
>>2447321
Yeah, I forgot to mention property. We have a barely-occupied 3 bedroom house with a big "den" downstairs, and a medium-sized yard. I think there's plenty of space for three cats and two dogs. No, we don't let cats go outside without a harness and leash.

In your opinion, what is the most aesthetically pleasing animal?

I nominate the endangered snow leopard.

Snow leopards are gorgeous, as are equines.

I still think nudibranchs have some of the most beautiful patterns in the animal kingdom.

Okay 4chan I need all the scientists, biologist, archaeologists, honestly I need all GREAT minds up in this one today. Great spark of curiosity hit my thoughts today as I was researching Blue Whales! Ready...

What's UNDER the "Atlantic Ocean, or really any ocean that once held prehistoric life"? Fossils maybe that are NOW buried there but honestly we simply can't reach it due to logistics.
In other words
Truth is we have very little data on oceanic fauna from any other time period; finding the fossil of a prehistoric land dweller is far easier than finding the fossil of an ancient reptile that lived on the Atlantic because of logistics. Finding a bone in your back yard after digging maybe 10ft is not the same as finding a bone 10,000ft under the atlantic ocean, and after digging maybe 100ft of sedimentary sand. The latter just won't happen. The few ancient giants we have discovered are a result of their corpse petrifying in ancient seas that have ''dried up'' and are now on land, in access of archaeologists. Those ancient sea's were not that deep, and you don't find blue whales in shallow sea's.

Imagine the possibilities of MASSIVE fossils and "crazy/bizarre" creatures that may have once existed!
INPUT!

Not gonna happen.

People would rather throw money at pitbulls and pot, no one cares about this stuff they are just waiting on their welfare check to come in the mail.

Too many shitty people in this world with no priorities.
>>
>>2447112
you're asking an engineering question. you basically need to design submarines that can stay underwater for weeks while being highly maneuverable (so no bulky military subs) with the capacity to dig and secure fossils. Basically someone needs to make deep sea exploration much easier and accessible sort of like what musk and spacex is trying to do for space exploration/travel.
>>
>>2447112

You make a series of incorrect assertions.
Marine life fossilises more readily than any other, so the marine fossil record is better known than any other.
The fossils found in your back yard may well have died on the floor of a deep sea millions of years ago - tectonic uplift does the rest.
Oceanic life is a little less well known, but aside from deep-sea specialists, most oceanic life finds its way into continental shelf deposition zones, so is far from unknown. Whale fossils - some of very large species are well-known, for example.
Deep-sea specialists tend to be rather archaic groups that have retreated there due to evolutionary competition, so their ancestors are often well-known in the fossil record.
The geology of ocean floors is actually geologically young since most oceans are the result of tectonic plate spreading, there is comparatively little sediment due to distance from sediment sources, so sea floor geology is mainly igneous with a thin veneer of youngish sediment. Oceanic crust is also pretty thin compared with continental crust.
There are known limits to organism size in different environments that are unlikely to have been *significantly* surpassed by as yet undiscovered forms.

So im a total newb into crabs and im planing to make a harem - 1 male 2 females, burt this is where the troubles start...
1. The male will be a Halloween crab, can one or both females be a Rainbow crab (Hybrids wpuld be cool and technically speaking the rainbows would get blacked :v))
2. How big should the aquarium (Terrarium? idk) be so they are comfy & general tips regarding the setup
3. Sand or gravel for the land part?
Pic semi-related, I kindly thank you for all advice

A week back my rat had an incident when he got his tail stuck under something and he lost a part of his tail's ending (not that much, pic related). I read that's a normal defensive mechanism. I've been curing him with medicine trying to make it better, clean up his cage to prevent infection and so on. From what I've read, in severe cases, it's either the rat drops off the exposed bone or it needs to be amputated.

>Is it necessary for him to lose the bone? >Doesn't that compromise his health if he doesn't?
>What can happen to the exposed bone?

Please reply, I'm worried about him a lot.

>>
Seems pretty shallow but could use amputation if the bone is exposed, so you should go to the vet. Would you go to the doctor if you could see the bone of your finger after it got cut off?
>>
Had one rat accidentally deglove the tip of his tail. That part just dried up and fell off in a few days.

It'll probably fall off soon but you can always have a vet remove it.

Bump for curiosity.

Also, we used to have TONS of gray tree frogs around (they'd be louder and more numerous than the crickets some nights), but I havent heard them at all this year. Any amphibifriends that might know what their activity cycle is like?
>>
>>2446863
I hear them too, and I ignorantly assumed they were cicadas. Upon further inspection they're almost definitely katydids.
