It's just a toy
But what is the animal the toy is model from
Has anyone here have used fish-street? If so how was the experience/costumer support.
I'm in the EU btw. It looks legit, I'm just a bit uneasy on buying something from there without seeing feedback from other people.

So I found this little fellow in my university grounds. It's been a sort of attraction to the students and professors there. The bird doesn't seem to mind someone getting close, although I do make it a point to tell people not to get too close to it.
I'm just wondering what bird is this (just out of curiosity)?
a white hawk, assuming you're in tropical america
>>2461113
This is from the Philippines though
Pretty sure it's a brahminy kite, but i'm not great at bird identification.
god dammit this venomous looking dude just casually crawled from under my desk. I've never seen spider like this in this area, nor any where else in my city. Can someone please recognize if its dangerous or should I just shrug it off?
I can bump this post with corgi/shiba/dog memes
shameless self bump
I believe it's lice in English.
Not sure though
Can you wipe your lens and post another picture? It's not dangerous whatever it is. Especially at that size. No, venom is not more potent in smaller arachnids.
93% sure it's a spider.
I saw a pink dog while walking in the summer time!
Don't worry, you'll be old enough next year to go to school like all the big boys and girls
I'm considering studying oceanography next year at university, so when taking a biology course next year at uni, should I take a cell biology course or an animal biology course?
Which one would be more important for studying the deep sea and its inhabitants?
I also plan on taking a marine science, earth science, math I and II, and physics I and II courses
That should give me a good grounding on how the ocean and earth systems work
Since I study 7 courses first year uni, the courses i listed above plus cell biology or animal biology equals 7 courses
Should I take cell biology or animal biology?
>>2461048
Take animal biology and set yourself up an aquarium. To understand a closed system will help you understand everything. I suggest you try to breed a particular species in a closed system. Understand it's natural biology and get that in a closed system. For example may be try to breed microdontichromis tenuidintatus, a species endemic to tanganyika. Or just breed Molly's lol!
>>2461059
Since the marine science, and earth and ocean science courses are similar, should I do the cell biology course instead of one of those courses?
Or is cell biology not that important for deep sea science?

dumping my birds!
on the upper right is my newest bird that i just got today. she is a white zebra finch, still deciding on what to name her.
on the lower left is my bourke parakeet, she is probably around a month or so old. i got her from a shady dealer when she was 4 weeks old, so i wasn't able to hand feed her and bond with her. i'm working on taming her. her name is mingo.
the bird on the right is tapu. shes a 3 month old kakariki parrot i hand fed from when she was 2 weeks old. she is super playful and curious, definitely more loving than most kakriki.
>>2461041
heres one more of tapu
>spent three years feeding crows outside my house
>fed them on my sidewalk
>then driveway
>then the lower roof part of my house outside my bedroom window
>still skittish as fuck and only two or three would stick around my roof
>one learned to tap at my window
>they fucked off every winter but would come back
>hear owls sometimes
>peregrine falcon moved in
>see crows less
>peregrine dive bombed a robin 2-3 feet in front of where I was sitting on the steps to my back porch
>was metal as fuck, robin fucking exploded
>redtail hawk family moves in
>don't see peregrine anymore
>crows haven't returned once this year
I was working so hard to gain their trust. I hear the soft distant AWES from a raven once in a while in the early mornings.
I miss my old house growing up because we had a shit ton of different songbirds every day in my yard. Woodpeckers(a pair of pileated woodpeckers were my fav), songbirds, cardinals, bluejays, golden finches, a pair of barn owls lived in my shed, saw a great horned owl in my yard a few times, redtail hawks, cooper's hawks, ospreys, turkey vultures, saw bald and golden eagles flying by a bunch, herons, hummingbirds, a pair of sandhill cranes chilled in the neighborhood, turkeys, pheasants, wood ducks, plovers(killdeer?), terns, comorants, a white egret hung out at our park, harrier hawks, etc. If they weren't in my yard they were close by because of the marsh.
Here now I just see european starlings, house sparrows and occasionally a blue jay or a mocking bird besides the now-gone crows and redtail hawks. Sometimes some normal ass seagull.
I hear snowy owls pop up here and in Maine so I'm going to try and go somewhere to see them when they fly down here from farther north.
Any idea what this bug Is? Bastard flew into my house and I managed to kill it after an ordeal (was chilling on the light fixture on the ceiling). I thought it was a male mosquito at first but it looks sort if like a weird cross between a wasp and a butterfly.
Pls respond
It looks like a kind of parasitoid wasp. Harmless to people. They lay their eggs in living hosts, usually the larvae of other insects.

ichneumonidae wasp, male.
What's the biggest hoax regarding nature and animals?
Stuff like free range chickens that aren't free range, or why Peta is hypocritical (not sure about that one) or Global Warming being a hoax. What about the actual dangers of beef and/or meat industry or random vegan shit. What are the worst hoaxes out there regarding nature and animal?
that they have emotions
Probably still the lemmings running off cliffs thing.

PETA are unironically cunts.
Im having a very hard time deciding what reptile I should get Im very torn between a Leopard Gecko or a Ball Python. I was also considering a Blue Tongue Skink but they are a quite a bit more expensive to buy. Are there any owners here that can help with my decision?
A ball python or blue tongue skink require much larger tanks. The care for either of those is more involved than for a leopard gecko. Skinks have specific dietary requirements that you will need to do some research on. BPs are very fussy about their humidity and also can be reluctant to eat for long periods of time.
Other reptiles you might want to consider are corn snakes (and king snakes, milk snakes), rosy boas, western hognose snakes (not legal everywhere- check local laws). All of those are less annoying to care for than BPs. For geckos, you have crested geckos, gargoyle geckos, pictus geckos commonly available and easy care.
All of that said, leopard geckos are great and definitely worthwhile first reptile.
Mexican indigo.
Mangrove snake. Cheap, very active, fun to handle.
Help me.
>listen to dog barking in the kitchen
>go to check
>one stray cat is stealing trash
>block its path while watching it
>gets nervous
>runs towards the exit behind me
>scratches my leg while doing so
>check injury and see a tiny bit of blood from the scratch
>wash it with soap just in case
>ask parents if maybe i should get the shots
>they say no and have no money for them anyway (am neet)
>present day
>have no symptoms but still paranoid as fuck about it
What should I do? The cat is nowhere to be seen anymore so I can't send it for tests. I researched online and a gov page says that there have not been any registered cases of dog rabies in the city for 11 years but I can't find shit about the fucking cats.
Pretty sure you have to get bit to get rabbies. It spreads through saliva. That's why they start foaming at the mouth
>>2460872
The thing is that if they have saliva in their paws/claws then scratching can be infectious too.
>>2460867
You're probably fine. Rabies is almost always fatal, but still incredibly rare. shit, it was practically a month or so ago, and you didn't mention the wound at all, so you probably didn't so much as get a bacterial infection from the thing.
Next time, don't block the escape path of a possibly feral animal, or else you might get worse than a light scratch.
These fuckers are $4 dollars per chick; what's it like owning chickens?
It depends on how many chickens.
You dig a lot of holes.
Do chickens and/or ducks make good pets?
>>2460814
Well that all really depends on what you Wang to do with them.
>>2460814
They're fun and affectionate, but shit everywhere so much and are hard to train towards a certain shit spot
Can't speak for chickens, but ducks are so messy. They shit constantly as babies, and very often as adults. They will take any source of water and make your entire yard into mud holes if allowed to. They require very specific care, supplements, and a lot of research to keep happy and healthy, especially as ducklings. Also every predator ever will go out of their way to kill your ducks. You have to drop a fair amount of money to make their home predator proof; simple chicken wire isn't going to cut it.
The plus side to ducks is their personalities are goofy and friendly, and they are far less prone to diseases than chickens. They are definitely receptive to bonding and come in a lot of neat breeds. The ducks I know will eat from your hand, follow you around, and two of them like being held. If you have an acre or two to spare for them and the time and money I say go for it. If you live in town don't bother, they are just as loud as chickens with the exception of the Cayuga and Muscovy.
How long should chickens stay in their coup for?
>>2460804
It depends on how biv the coop is, how much you care about the chicken, and what breed it is.
For example, Sillies can stay in a coop all day if it's a good size, though I'd let mine our every day anyways.
And other breeds like araucanas can't stand being locked up all the time.
But just because it can doesn't mean it should. If by coop you mean that whole enclosure then they should be fine if you have one or two.
If you mean coop as in the actual small house it's self I'd say only at night for them to lay their eggs and then close it the rest of the day. I wouldn't leave a chicken in there for more than the night.

I just rescued a kitten yesterday and other than being underweight she seems to be a very normal active kitten. However, we noticed that her paws smell really bad and discovered that two of her paws have some sort of fungus or infection on them. She doesn't seem to be in any pain at all, it doesn't bother her when I squeeze or touch her paws, and she doesn't limp--she just stinks. We're going to take her to the vet soon, but does anyone know what this is before her appointment next weekend?
>>2460799
Fungal infections can occur on kitter feet. Especially in ill-kept kennels or cages. The vet will probably perscribe a topical anti-fungal and oral anti- fungal as well. Change her litter every day while she's on it and wash anything she sleeps on really well before she uses it again. Toss it if need be. Nothing else you can really do besides washing the paws in the meantime. Best of luck, with your kitter kat moving forward.
it's a gross disgusting cat, what did you expect?
>>2460883
Oh yeah, she's truly revolting
